The sound of the bass it self is exelent. It has an incredible sustain due to the ridget neck though construction. The pickups and electronics are bad. They have a lot of hum and noise and a very low output. When replaced, this is the most perfect bass.
The instrument is rather heavy when hanging on a strap.

This bass was an Ibanez prototype. It never whent into production due to some flaws in the construction. The body and neck are exelent.
The pickups and eletronics are bad (as mentioned earlier). This bass has a 7pc wenge/maple neck though construction with 2 truss rods and 2 additional graphite neck rods. This gives an incredible sustain to the bass. But it also makes the neck very stif. On this prototype the bridge was to light and couldn't handle the string tension. It finaly broke in two and came off (with some life hazzard I might add). The original bridge is now replaced with a mutch more sollid ABM bridge. This inceased the sustain even more. Now it's an exelent bass that I wouldn't trade for the world.

Cuz af the fact that this was a prototype it had some flaws. Now that they are solved (under warranty) I never had any problems again.

I only dealt with the music store where I bought the instrument. They fixed all the flaws without any problem under warranty.

I've been playing bass for 14 years now. This bass use to be one of my favourites. To bad it needed some replacement parts. But that was for a good cause. Lately I don't play it that often anymore. I'm addicted to fretless.

This bass will suit almost any music style you can and will play. I've gigged and/or recorded with it playing Rock, metal, prog, electronica, acoustic, and it's always fit the style of music. I believe the active electronics play a large part in this. They are dead quiet, and useable throughout the entire range. I have a Digitech Bass whammy and a Zoom 506 in my pedalboard, and the natural "woody" sound of the bass always comes through.

I purchesed it used, and cannot comment on the original set-up. However, because of the multi-laminate neck, it hold a set-up extremely well. No flaws in the wood grain, finish and fretwire.

I've owned this bass for 4 years, and have used it at many a live gig and studio session. Both the hardware and finish are solid. I've replaced the standard strap buttons with Dunlop straploks, and have never needed to tighten then after installation. It's extremely dependable, I've gigged without a backup, and have never had a problem.

Purchesed used with only the store warranty. I'm never had a problem, and have never needed to contact Ibanez.

I've been playing bass for 10 years, and own an Ibanez SR-800 four-string, and a Washburn four-string strung BEAD, Digitech Bass Whammy and Zoom 506 mult-effects, and Peavey amps. If it was stolen, I would attempt to find a exact replacement (although it was only produced for 1-2 years, and would be hard to find on the market), on another high-end Ibanez. I love the flexability of the electronics, and the thin (for a six) neck. I'd compare it to european made Spectors. It would have been a deal at double the price, and outplays much more expensive basses.
