4-String acoustic/electric bass bought used in 2004. Single cutaway, red finish with Piezo-electric pick-up and 3 band eq. All simple but effective

Let's just say I was playing a $2,000 Warwick bass at the music store and it sounded just OK. I plugged in this used $200 JB Player acoustic and many of the store personnel came over and said "Wow - what are you playing?" The bass has an awesome plugged in tone; deep and full bodied; rich and warm. The acoustic sound is fine for practicing. I also like the deep tone plugged in better than my new Carvin LB75P.

I bought it used. Set-up is OK but as with many acoustics, the action leaves something to be desired. Particularly above about the 9th fret. Still, for $200 it is better than expected.

Seems to hold up just fine.

I've been playing bass for 25 years now and have owned a pre-Gibson Tobias, Ibanez SD GR, Hofner, Gibson EB-3, etc. and must say that for an acoustic bass, I really got my money's worth here. The only thing I wish it had was a 5th string because I get a bit lost since all my other current basses are 5-string.
