JB Player SHB Sledgehammer Bass

this bass doesnt have a massive amount of features to speak of, simple passive pickups nothing fancy.

the sound is deep and full, but it could be fatter or warmer. the pickups lack versitility but this can be compensated for with even moderate EQ on the amp.

the action of this bass isnt amazing, about as good as any bass that ive played with a cost of under $500, however this is due primarily to the bridge which can be replaced easily and cheaply. there are no distinct flaws in it, other than aspects related directly to its age.

this monster is indistructable!!!!! i got it for free from a friend who got it for $50 from a friend who bought it new. this guitar is nearly a decade old, has had three owners, has had no parts replaced, and for that, plays and sounds as good as a brand new bass. the neck doesnt need adjustment even the tuning knobs hold a tune as well as basses ive played that are 5 times this price. its tough as nails, and after allt his time my only complaint is an aged bridge, and slightly lose tone knobs.

as i said, this was used, so i never had to deal with customer support. i imagine its nearly nonexistant, just based on the company itself, being one ive never even heard of.

for the price ($200) this bass is ungodly, and id be happy if its replacement were just as good (minus the 7 years age) after this many years of wear and tear it still looks beautiful not a scratch on the varnish not a dent on the neck, if i didnt know better id say it was new, and that applies to the sound and playablity too. recommend it to first time bassists who will eventually want multiple basses especially.

This is a four string Bass Made in indonesia. guitar is very simple.
Has a volume and tone control, 21 frets with one humbucker at the bridge. Don't know what the body is made of Don't care it sounds great. The guitar has a maple neck and I got it new for christmas in 2000 so its four years old. The bridge is a stop tailpiece. the reason I'm not giving the guitar a 9 or 10 for this category I wish I had a wider variety of tones. you can't change tone much with one humbucker. Great guitar!

The guitar sounds Awesome considering its a beginner Bass. In fact I use it for recording and have played the bass on quite a few tracks as a lead instrument. It helps if you get a good amp This bass sounds best on a tube type amp. Doesn't everything? anyway It has the tone for Jazz blues Rock and Heavy metal. This baby can cut through the mix. I play mostly blues and alternative rock/metal and the bass sounds amazing!

The orignial setup was okay but after I messed with it I got it to have better action than my friends fender jazz bass. I would put this guitar up against mexican fenders and any squire. It is a great guitar the neck is fast for a bass and just the right contour. It is very similar to fender bass necks.

This guitar will last for years and it has never had a problem in the time that I've used it. I have played live several times with it and it will keep up with any bass player just fine. It can also take a beating. this has great strap buttons my strap has never slipped and I have never lost the guitar when playing live.

Never dealt with them wouldn't know.

I have been playing guitar for 3 years and Bass guitar for 4 years but I have played many other guitars for much more money that were not as good. I have a fender Jap strat and A deluxe floyd rose fat strat As well as a 1964 Bruno royal artist semi hollow body guitar and a few acoustics and beginner electrics this Is a great guitar for the money especailly if you're a beginner. Like I said I use it to record my songs and have played live with it. people comment on how they like the sound and then are suprised its not a fender. Buy one of these J.B. players are underrated.
