I bought this Kawai from Fogt's Music, in Sarasota, FL. It is the same bass as described below. Odd repetative dots, shot finish, but KILLER tone. It is a 5 piece body, chrome hardware, passive pickups. Currently strung up with d'addidario chromes, and it kills!

Beautifully and gracefully nails EVERY type of tone imaginable. The action is amazing, I have never needed to tweak the truss rod!

The action is so low, it is stunning. The original nut snapped when the strings were taken off, so ithas been replaced. No flaws, this bass is solid as a rock.

This bass could survive a fall off of a 4-story building! The strap buttons are rock solid. This bass is my main/backup/2nd backup all in one! It is the only bass I need!
Customer Support

No Opinion
Kawai has long since stopped making basses, so I cannot contact their customer support.

This is the ONE. It is the only bass you will ever need. If another is ever found, I would snap it up in a second.

This bass seems to be a late 70's model Kawai F2B, but it has only five pieces of wood, 22 frets, passive electronics, and no model number, or serial number.
It's a full neck-thru 4-string bass, with 2 HUGE soapbar pickups, each with their own volume knob, that also acts as a phase shift pull knob. Very strange. It's finished in a dark brown, walnut colored stain.

I use it for Rock, mostly, a little fnk, a general bass sound. Absolutely no buzz, hum, rattle, complete silence. This thing can handle anythrom P-bass low thump, to Alembic sonding glass. Absolutely amazing sound. Stunning.

The action when i got it was perfect. low, fast, smooth. The neck is perfect, the only flaws are in the surface. It was pretty well abused. Some VERY strange, repetitive dents on the bottom.

I beat the hell outta this thing, I toss it around, Hit things wih it, it couldn't care less. Haven't had any problems with it whatsoever. The finish is kinda shot, but, well, I got it used, so....
I still haven't had to touch the truss rod. I lowered the action when i changed string manufacturers, but other than that, it's solid as a rock. Might as well be made out of concrete. I use it with out a back up, there would be no point in playing anything if I didn't have this bass.

I don't think Kawai is willing to admit it even exists.

I absolutely adore this friggin bass. If it was stolen, I'd spend the rest of My days searching for the person who took it, to seek my vengence...
The only problem is, i'd like to buy another one. But, I can't find one. I've seen a bunch of the active pickup models around, and hate changing batterys. Besides, this sounds better than the active systems.
If anyone has any info on this bass, anything, PLEASE contact me.
