3 band EQ, pick-up blend switch, passive/active switch, hip-shot tuners, neck-thru body w/ Bartolini's p/ups. One of the best set-ups I've ever seen, considering it's $599 @ the local G.C.

Sound : 10
Hands down outperformed anything in it's price range/class. Whether your looking for Warm or Bright tone, Growl, this bass does it all. Great in the studio! I've paired mine up with a Mark Bass 2x10 combo, and I'm living the dream!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Could not have been set up any better. Great finish. Kudos to whoever engineered this beauty.

Reliability/Durability : 10
No problems so far. Everything placed on solidly and looks very dependable.

Customer Support : No Opinion
N/A, have not had to deal with them.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing it for a month. Do yourself a favor; find it & take it home w/ you. BIG DADDY doesn't know what the heck he's talking about. He surely reviewed the wrong bass.

This a Ocean Five String TB75 2008 model and it is extremely versitale as well as comfortable to play. The Bartolinis and 3 band eq/active passive switching, Hipshot tuners , high quality from Platnum bridge to Brass nut riding on Hard Rock Maple/Wenge laminated 5 piece).

Sound : 10
The sound versitility is the best I've owned and I owned Warwick Corevette 5 string, Washburn (USA Custom) XB925 and Fender Precision and I replaced all those tones and more withe the Ocean.
Probably the most non recognized new line on the market.

Tone of the bass if perfect on Brdge scompressed snappy ( not at all brittle or harsh) however hits the accents wonderfully. If you want a primary axe that plays like Butter and responds to the

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The bass came in with action a touch low on the B and E strings, however quick Hex adjustment and I can cover all the styles especially Funk and man is't tight/Focused, tight punchy but not boomy like so many active basses.

Neck is like butter! Mine is a absoute joy to play ( easier to play than any of the big names I owned.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Built to be a durable axe that can wither road abuse (with in reason of course) No problems and since GuitarCenter/Musician Friend owns the operation they deliver ou a axe they stand squarely behind at a fraction of cost.

Top notch Service/Support!

Customer Support : 10
Excellent, even though I have not ever had to use for the Ocean Bass. I have on other products and is no hassle!

Overall Rating : 10
Considering all the valus and at a price that no other credible bass company can touch!

i have only played this bass in the store and am about to buy it, nd i have been playing for almost a year, and i know the difference between good tone and bad tone

pay no attention to the other reveiw, he probly only played it for 10 minutes
i have visited guitar center multiple times just to play this bass

i love how easy it is to play, how it looks, and its just the sound im looking for

its definately up there in quality with american made fenders infact if they were both the same price, it would be a tough decision

They look good online and the pickups and tuners are premium items (although the word "Licensed" is used) but it takes more than some big name items to make a good bass guitar. While shopping for a bass I saw these online and tried one at a large retail music store... you know the one. Anyway, the one I played had a knob spinning on the shaft, a broken toggle, and would not stay in tune.
It felt like a boat oar with a piano wire on it. As far as poping, it was like slapping a rubber hose.. thuddy and dead. I do not know what bass all these online store reviewers played but it wasn't this one. And $799.00? for a bass made in Indonesia?

Sound : 1
I plugged it in and was instantly dissapointed, tried to tune it for 10 minutes.. got bored fast. It sounds like I was hitting a rug with a tennis racket. I had to play a Fender Jazz for 20 minutes to cleanse myself of this plank of driftwood. Again, I don't know what bass these other guys played.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 3
They one I played was the blue-wash kinda finish. I don't know what the color was trying to acheive but it would go well with my girlfriend's towels. It looked like baby blue stain over roughly sawn wood. The paint and finish were somewhat reminisant of the wood cars you would build and stain in Boyscouts. Once more, what bass were these other reviewers talking about??

Reliability/Durability : 1
I don't think it would last long. It didn't survive the showroom from what I saw. AND.. it was hanging high on the wall, not in the line of fire.

Customer Support : 1
Let me tell you about the customer support. I emailed them (only way listed on their site) and asked questions because I was very interested in them. They responded 20 days later, after I had purchased my Yamaha BB615 for almost half the price of the Laguna.
By the way, the Yamaha is the bomb! You may want to wait for their "Going Out Of Business Sale"

These guitars and basses seem to be recently released. When I was shopping for a bass in January I couldn't find any info on their company or where they were manufactured. Asside of the Bartolini pickups the word "Licensed" come up on the other premium adds. It seems as though now there are tons of rave reviews on this bass now and I thought I would share my experience because it's kinda weird how there are no bad reviews of this bass. Perhaps the wonderful reviews at the retailers are manufactured in Indonesia as well.
