My OLP MM22 is a black cherry burst model. It really nails the MusicMan look and vibe. It is made in Korea and like many other Korean made basses, the quality, sound, and playability of this instrument is quite impressive. The active electronics mimic the duel pickup MusicMan's design. I appreciate the pop up battery compartment lid (my other active bass, doesn't have this and unscrewing the lid can be a hassel). I dig the 5-way pup configuration switch (there's a bunch of sounds available). The body is basswood (inexpensive, but plenty resonate). Maple neck with satin finish and a rosewood fingerboard. NO DEAD SPOTS on the G-string. The tuners and bridge look and feel substantual.

I have been playing modern praise and worship for over 14 yrs. Our 8 pc. band cover gospel, rock, funk, soft pop, and country styles. This bass is great for this much versatility. I can roll off the treb. and mids. while boostiing the bass for a warm, rich tone, there's serious growl with the mids boosted and this bass begs to be SPANKED. It's hard to keep your thumb off the strings with all the MusicMan bottom + top end snap! When I first started using this bass I a scatchy, static sound coming and going when I had the 5-way switch set in any of the middle three possitions (kind of a low- battery noise) I took care of the issue by accessing the switch through the back of the bass and blasting it with some contact spray. I play live through a GK 800 RB head and Carvin 410 & 210 cabs. while running direct to the church house system.

The bass was set up better than most I play in our retail stores. I know that it wasn't to this stores credit because they don't set up anything! The action was medium-low. I brought the bass home and tweeked the neck(its nearly straight as an arrow) and lowered the saddles a tad. This revealed some pretty awesome fretwork. With a reasonable soft touch theres no fret buzz (even though I expected it- what plesant surprise). The neck pup was set a little low for my taste, but when I tried to raise it, it wouldn,t. I found a thin layer of foam pad under each end of the pup so I added a bit more pad and took care of the issue. I've already addressed the noise in the 5-way pickup selector.

It's a wait and see issue with the reliability of this bass (It's new). I think the hardware is fine. The bass has stayed in tune during one hr. practices and 45 minute worship gigs. I will have either my American Fender Jazz, or my Conklin GTBD on hand as a back up for a while. If the electronics prove themselves, I wouldn't worry about this bass at all.

I've been playing bass for over 30 yrs. I'm down to 3 basses now. The MM22, a 2008 American standard Fender Jazz, and the Conklin Groove Tools Bill Dickens 7 string. From old school to contra bass with all the bells and whistles, these three have the "fretted basses" covered for me. For this bass to be so "on tbe cheap" when comparing it with the other two, I sure enjoy playing it. I would be tempted to replace this bass if something happened to it. I don't have the disposable funds neccessary to run out and buy a "real MusicMan". If your looking for the MusicMan vibe but don't have the pocket book, I strongly suggest you try one of these.

I give this bass a 10 because it if full of features esecially for a budget liscenced copy. i usually prefer basses with 24 frets and if possible a variable 3 or a 4 band eq but this bass is so good i have it a 10. and lets face it a 24fret neck is for the bongo not the stingray.

I played this bass for two hours on two seperate occasions through a fender bassman amp abd a peavey amp roughly 80 watss for both im guessing. I play alot of varying styles my main styles r hard rock and metal but i play weekly at my church andother funk nights so flexibility is a must have in any bass i contemplate owning. with the eq on the bass and amps flat it has a nice even response with a slight bass emphasis as basses should be in my opinion. the eq on this bass is ery responsive, especially the bass boost which can make that low E string thunderous especially when slaping going as far as to shake the map and overdrive slightly when pushed to extrememes. The mid control lends a nice mid range growl to the sound nothing harsh but a warm growl which i havn't found on many basses while the treble adds a crisp feel to the bass and makes those slap notes snappy and bright. i tried each control with the others flat and then combined them to creat any usuable tone i could think of from growly metal tones to smooth fretless sounding jazz tones and many more. when the pickups are switched through their isnt a great deal of difference in positions 2-5 while the neck and bridge pickups solo'd sound good. the eck is bright and articulate while the neck is warm and thick. i found with a moderate bass boost a real big sounding bassy bridge pickup sound very close to if not at the stingray tone which is understandable while the neck pickup adds a whole new arsonal of tones. both combined gines a fat n thick tone with dampened highs quite pbass like but not close enough to sound convincing. positions 2 and 4 on the switch are different coil combinations but i didnt notice much difference except that the saound changed when switching but when playing they sounded fairly similiar to me.

The only real bad point for me about this bass is that its treble control does not go as extreme as my other basses however these have 18v EQ's and so will have more headroom and cost atleast twice the ?? so all in all its sounds are very usable and versetile.

I played this bass in a guita store and so i expect it was set up by the techs there cos it played really well. I think it may have alot been slightly low tuned since the string tensions were abit slack but still very playable. action was uniform low and playable, even slapable up to the high frets however i did notice fretbuz when playing hard on the neck pickup and on the extreme range notes but i didn't feel it effected my playing in anyway. I was able to tap easily on the neck from power chord double handed tapping to van halen style flash solo stuff cofortably.

the finish was uniform and flawless across the bass and very attractice even for a bassist who does not sually favour burst finishes.

iv given it a 7 because of the fretbuzz and slack strings but this may have been the bass i played i dont know.

having only played the bass instore i cannot fully answer this but i checked the tuners and hardware aswell as strap buttons and all apeared solid and stable although i would recommend putting strap locks on asap if you plan on gigging with it. I think Id quite happily gig without a backup although i would require a 5 string aswell so not entirely true.

Iv been playing for 4 years and own an ibanez btb556 6 string bass, a yamaha bb506 5 string jazz bass, a vintage AV4 4 string jazz bass and an acoutsic 4 string. I play in a hard rock band, my church worship band and regularly at jam nights.

I lovethe stringray tone you can achieve and the pickup switch making quick changes easy during sets and songs. the neck is smooth and playable and the bass has an awesome slap tone, which is what attracted me to it in the first place and t looks nice and attractive with good build quiality. I wish it had 18v circuitry and a 24 fret neck but these arn't things found on a stingray so im perfectly content with this bass. if i owned one and it was stolen i would buy another but my mind is one which likes the look of anything i dont or havn't had so i would no doubt be temted to buy a different bass altogether by its new-ness.
