Features : 10
i have the identical bass to the magnum 3 rated above with one exception. this model has a built in 3 band equalizer. the electronics are not passive, they are active, requiring 2 9 volt batteries.i love this bass. the feel is smoothe and fast. i have the strings extrenmely tight, and i never get a buzz unless i snap the strings excessivly. other than the odd balance of body to neck weights, wwhich i adjusted to pretty quickly, my only complaint is that the slide controls on the equalizers tend to crackle when they are adjusted, which is a drag onstage. also the beast eats batteries . i go through 2 in an average night. ouch. the feel and the playabilitu=y are so unique, i recomend this guitar if you can find one. i got mine for $250 with the hardshell case. i feel like it was a great bargain.

Sound : 8
the equalizers give a beautiful range of sounds. i do not play pop bass or stress the strings to the degree that the neck pickups are an issue for me.it is a great bass for a player with a strong left arm.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
the action is tight and fast. the pickups were reset by the former owner and although i fooled with the height settings a little, it is essentially back where it was when i bought it. because of the neck length and the deph of the headbridge, i have t be sure to specify longer strings than normal, or the yarn wrapping tends to lay over the nut.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
the ovation solid bodys are a rock. the neck is superior with laminated polycarbon inlays, the guitar is a monster.

Customer Support : No Opinion
no repairs yet, no warrantee, second hand. ovation is excellent in terms of supporting their product, whether the owner is the original purchaser or not.

Overall Rating : 10
playing for 25 years, stage and studio.i have a steinberger (1976) and an old fender jazzmaster(1964?) i also fool around wjith a fully beat up "alien" (no idea what year)
the price was right, and other than my battery jones, i have no issues with it.
if you see one around and you get a chance, get it.
