Creme yellow finish.Body is solidbody, style like dreadnough with one cutaway. Bridge intonation all strings and and lift like tune-o-matic. And one screw on back side, maybe so the bridge can be used like a one way tremolo. Good quality. bridge.Ovation quality tuners. Comfort neck with Gibson scala and easy and fast to play. Original Case. Made in USA 1979. 24 frets.2x Ovation single coils size of mini-humbuckers., 3-way selector, volume and tone control. Pick-ups are something betwin sinle/P-90. Passive elecronics. I do not what kind of wood.

I play rock/blues/country rock, and little bit jazz. I have been playing for 45 years and owned all kind of guitars. I have used a Fender Quad Rewerb from 1972 for years. The big heavy thing with 4 12" speakers. No effects.
This guitar sound extremly well. Little bit wider than tele/strat. I have read on the web -very well known guitarplayers says - that original Ovation solid bodies are very underrated. And I agree, indeed I do. You can get Your on sound with this guitar without effects.

Very easy to set up. Easy to adjuse pickups. Easy to play and fast to play.. The guitar is nearly 30 years old.

Use it like Pete in the Who on one gig, and you can use the guitar in Jazz ansamble in the next.

Basic Features that appeared to be adequate. Positive rating for simplicity of design.

Clear and consistent sound. Nice warm bottom. Somewhat thin on high-end. Buzzes on a and d strings on 2nd, 3rd and 4th frets. Local shop couldn't explain; local/authorized dealer couldn't fix. Regional Sales rep didn't return my call to fix. (see below).

Great action. Makes you want to play. Feels solid, yet without that thin, wimpy feel of other "low" action makes.

HAD SEVERAL TECHNICAL PROBS (AND I'M NO TECHNO-HEAD). THE BUZZ'S (SEE ABOVE) COULDN'T BE FIXED. THEN A PICKUP DIED UNDER THE D STRING. JUST THE D STRING!!. THIS HAPPENED RIGHT AFTER A STRING CHANGE...DON'T HAVE A CLUE, NEITHER DID THE LOCAL STORE WHERE I BOUGHT IT.

1 - I bought it on sale -- the store said it was a new "factory overstock' so didn't have a hard case. I ordered one (paid upfront). THe store told me a week or two at most. Well, it didn't arrive until 2 MONTHS later. Schlepping around a high-end instrument on make-do cases. Another time, I couldn't get rid of buzzes in the a and d strings, nor could the local authorized dealer, who suggested an inherint neck problem. I called the regional Ovation rep via phone and e mail severtal times for assistance and not once was the call returned. BE WARY OF CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM OVATION.

I;ve been playing 25 years in a wide variety of genres. The ovation, i hoped, would have been my own Crown Jewel, finally, after gigging all these years. Initially, it was--felt GREAT and sounded great too. But the tech problems and the service KILLED it and I returned it. Won't go back to Ovation.
