Hand built 5 string jazz bass with flame maple neck. Controls are volume, pickup pan, stacked bass & treble with a pull slap sound. 35" sacale length to give a tight B.
You can pick any specification you want so I was relatively conservitive with my choice. A little EQ can help but too much can have you tweaking all day.
Sound

Very warm bass, there is enough tone with the bass flat but when you kick in the EQ the options are vast. The pull slap is spot on for that style of music. The bass boost is huge.
Action, Fit, & Finish

Action is perfect, the build quality is briliant. I have encountered some surface cracks on the laquor which is a minor flaw bit bad for an instrument of this price.

Been playing 34 years and owned various 4, 5 & 6 string basses. The J5 is a real do it all bass. Everyone should have the chance to own a custom built bass but the problem is, where do you stop with the specification!
If this bass was stolen I would need to think long and hard about its replacement. I wouldn't think twice about getting another Overwater, this is my third one and they are excellent.
