Natural matt finish, what looks like walnut over mahogany back. Thru' neck. Ebony board. 3 band eq and in house made pick ups. Jack and XLR outputs.

Sound : 2
Well, it just doesn't sound good at all. Why is anyone's guess. Maybe it's as others have said, dull, lifeless and uninspiring. The low B is particularly poor, and sounds like a thud when moving from E to low B. It doesn't sound terrible, but most $500 basses will beat this hands down and I can't think of any that would sound any worse.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Good.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Too soon to tell and I doubt if I will keep it for any length of time to find out.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Got it second hand

Overall Rating : 2
Just not a good bass. If I paid $500 I would be dissapointed. Probably compares with a sub $300 bass.

A follow up to my original review. It's got the rio rosewood facing. Has a lot of OK d\stuff but just really average....cachunga, cachunga

Sound : 1
It is worse than I first reviewed. Absolutely lifeless, kapow, uninspiring, oh noooooo, and utterly ungigworthy, ooooffff

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
This is OK, but the bass used to get really dusty standing in the corner untouched for months on end.

Reliability/Durability : 5
It worked, whenver I picked it up. However, never picked it up that often....also, when I did the dust got all over me. What a mucky little bass...bad bass, bad bass......

Customer Support : 4
Wouldn't take it back....

Overall Rating : 1
I just tarded the worthless lump of wood for a MIA Precision. That hurt, but at least I can use the precision.

Been playing 10 years and picked this up real cheapo considering the price of a new one. Now I know why. Gonna sell it real cheap also - reckon I will get my money back then some from some poor sucker.

2001 model picked up second hand. nice looking flame maple top on top of a mahogany bod. 5 piece neck with roswood 'board. In house pups and bridge. Nice touch was the XLR and jack outputs. Not nice is the lack of active bypass and no string through body option - so 2 points nada here.

Sound : 1
Wow, plum duff. This pudding would sink the hearts of the least discriminating player. It sounds absolutely horrid. The problem must be the strings, I think having strings on this bass is a no no. Become a percussionist and take the strings of and tap the pups with some sticks, now we are talking.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
No problems. I picked it up second hand and played fine. Everything in place but I doubt it was used much so why should it fall apart?

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Looked like new for a 5 byear old bass. That says something....has anyone played this.

Customer Support : 1
I telephoned them to ask whether I had a problem because after putting a new set of rotosounds on it still sounded bad. I was told it must be me as everyone they had sold a progress to loves the sound and it is an industry standard amongst pro's. Ho ho ho, ha ha ha, hehaw

Overall Rating : 2
Well, I can't use this lump of wood as a musical instrument. But then, at leat I have been educated by the Overwater boys that it is me at fault and not the bass.

This is a follow up to my previous review which was completed after only owning the bass for two weeks. Now I have had time to get to know it inside out, the review is based on a year of owning the bass. The features are common with my previous, and all other, reviews. My bass has the rosewood facings. The active electronincs are quite limited.

Sound : 2
There is very little I like about the sound of the low B. It is ill defined and dull, even with new strings. The other strings sound OK, but certainly not what I would expect for a ??2K plus bass. Quite frankly, this bass just sounds poor.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Excellent fit, finish and all the parts are top notch.

Reliability/Durability : 6
Well, it looks pretty new after one year. But I never gig with it and play at home where ultimate sound is not a consideration.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never really had too much contact. They are friendly.

Overall Rating : 2
I can only assume that the problem with the bass is down to poor design. The workmanship and quality of components are really high. The electrics are limited in use, but the basic sound just doesn't inspire. I have tried selling it but at ??1200 (nearly ??1000 less than I paid) there were no takers. Maybe if I went below ??1000, but then what's the point. It looks nice so maybe I should just leave it at that.

2 pups, active 3 band pre with jack and XLR sockets. Thru neck, walnut wings over mahogany. 35 inch scale.

Sound : No Opinion
The secret of this bass is in the XLR connector. Using the jack it is really lifeless and dull. Plug in the XLR and it's worse. Can't say enough about how little this bass makes me want to play. Wanted to get into 5 string, but want to offload without loosing too much cash.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The good part. Well put together although the satin finish looks a little cheap.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Can't asay I ever want to find out

They talk a good story but don't deliver the goods. The best customer support they can give is stop making this model.

Overall Rating : 5
Everything about this bass screams pants. Camn'y convey just how much it hurst paying so much for so little. Luckily, I earn loads of money so a few grand doesn't really matter. But boy, what a turkey, only this has as little use at Christmas as the rest of the year.

Pretty much covered elsewhere. My particular bass has a walnut top over a mahogany body.

Sound : 3
Sounds like a hundred dollars, really. No real clarity, B definition is lousy and the eq has very little tnal adjustment. I was starting to think that I ought to pop a different eq into this baby, but this is a 2K bass and really should be a whole lot better.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Very well put together.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Picked this bass up second hand and seems to have stod up well. It was made in 2002 and looks pretty good for the age.

Can't comment on this.

Well, I have difficulty using this bass in a band situation. The sound was OK when I tried it at the person I bought it froms house. He ad an Aguilar 359 and a 2x10 and 1x15 Aguilar Cabs. At the time he stated the strings were old so I expected the sound to be somewhat dull. However, getting it home and changing the strings did not improve matters. What is worse that through my Ashdown EVO there is life to this bass. Other band members thought it was cool when I turned up at rehearsal until I started playing. Then the please for my MIM P bass to come out of the case started. So, there you have it, the common consensus was that a mexican passive P bass had the edge over the Overwater Progress. How glad did I feel.

An original body shape constructed of a flamed maple top over a mahogany back. 5 piece maple and purple heart through neck, ebony fingerboard, 35" scale length. Smooth satin finish. 2 soapbars into a 3 band active pre amp. Overwater bridge but no through body option, which is a minus in my book. Came with hiscox case which is really too loose a fit for my liking and ought to have better at this price.

Sound : 5
The sound is full and really not that inspiring. I could do with more treble bite and edge. Perhaps overly polite is the best description. The low B, despite the claims on the web site, is more a thud than an extension of the tone of the other strings. Although not a bad sound, the price dictates that this should be marked as mediocre.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
ALthough I got this second hand, the action was great and everything was well put together. No rough edges to the frets and the neck is staright and true.

Reliability/Durability : 8
The finish is obviously a plus point as it looks like new despite me being the third owner and the bass being four years old. All hardware has stood up to it. The only nagging thought is whether this bass was played much due to the sound. However, can't complain in this department.

Customer Support : No Opinion
aven't really contacted them.

Well, picked this up as I was looking for a high quality 5 string. I play a Sadowsky 4 string and would really have liked a 5 string version, but these cost over $3.5k and second hand rarely go for less than $2.5k. My mistake really as the Overwater bass is not in the same league as my Sadowsky. Shame as I now come to the realisation that the only way to et what I want is to keep saving. If it were stolen I would definately not get another. This one is going back on e-bay. I wish it had a top notch sound to go with the looks and playability. Not to be I guess.

Good features, just like the others on the page. My bass has rosewood veneers.

Sound : 2
Dull, boring and uninspiring. I can't say enough about how dissappointing this bass is. Won it off e-bay for a good price and now I know why. New strings sound old, old strings sound just terrible. This is a costly high end bass and I can't imagine why anyone would actually buy one if they tried it first. I guess they are made to order and you are obliged to go through with the purchase. I thought maybe I had a rogue bass, but looking at this site I get the impression that they all tend to be like this. A five string squier sounds better and that hurts.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This area cannot be faulted

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I just don't see myself playing this much to ever test this area

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never contacted them and no point. Everything works fine, just sounds naff.

Overall Rating : 2
I wanted something that looked looked and sounded special. Well, it looks good but, quite simply, the sound is less than I expect from a ?200 korean bass. They retail for over ?2000; boy this some outlay. This bass is the biggest disappointment ever.

Built in 2002. 36" scale, 24 fret neck, which is a bit if a handfull. Two soap bars, 3 way in house eq, volume and pan controls. Flame maple top and walnut body. Comes with case which don't fit too good.

Sound : 6
OK. Low B has the same definition as the rest of the bass, which is down to the 36" scale length. The sound is functional but not remarkable, which for the asking price of a new one will be adowner. It is quite mid biased with a nasal quality to the upper registers. I will mark harshly in this catagory as it is a two grand bass.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Excellent. can't be faulted in this area.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Finish, which is some satin mix, has stood up well.

Customer Support : No Opinion
It's reliable so I've not had a reason to test this catagory.

Overall Rating : 5
Been playing 5 years and was looking for a 5 string bass. To be honest, the scale length is too much of a handful for me and the sound doesn't justify either the cost or the effort of this bass. I picked it up second hand from Loot and it may go back in soon.
