Sound : 9
I play comtemporary christian music, classic rock, and '80s rock. This bass guitar covers a wide range of sounds. I use this with a Peavey bass amp (18" woofer and a tweeter). Since I like old school bass playing (i.e. Sir Paul McCartney), I tend to select the neck pickup with the treble almost completely cut. This is a very, very quiet bass with excellant sustain. Never tried it in the studio. The only dislike is that it does not have a switch to turn off the active electronics, in case the batteries (two 9-volt), die so it can be used in a passive mode.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Since I bought it used, I was not expecting the finish to be flawless. There were some very minor "war wounds" since its previous owner play in a band for over four years. The finish itself was a sparkle-red and very deep. It appears as if it can take a heck of a beating. I just I had tighten a few screw, adjust the pickups to my taste, fix the strap buttons. No rust or oxidation.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I play every Sunday in a contemporary christian band so I do not jump around with it. The hard is very beefy. The finish seems very thick. As stated before, I had to fix the strap buttons since the previous owner was in a punk-rock band. I have no back-up although I have used Peavey gear before with no problems.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Since Peavey stopped production of this bass in the mid-'90s, I have no need to contact them.

Overall Rating : 9
This is my first bass that I have owned outright. I have played Fender, Jackson, Ibanez, and Carvin. I was looking to switch to bass guitar after play electric guitar for over 15 years. When I saw the case, which was in OK shape, I did not expect much. WOW, was I wrong. This bass played perfectly after the previous owner was in a punk-rock band for four years and it sat in the case under her couch for about two years. The neck plays very nice and the body shape is very comfortable. Again, a passive/active switch would have been nice. Peavey has been around for a long time for good reason: solid and reliable gear time after time. This is a great-sounding, powerful, versitle, reliable bass. If you can find one, buy it!!!
