This is the CNT5 Bubinga.
It is the budget-version of de the Cirrus made for Europe (as mentiond blow). Is had 24 frets,a necktrough body. 2 humbuckers and 2 volumes and tones. It's quite heavy!

Sound : 8
I play in a Red Hot Chilli Peppers coverband and Ibought it because I needed a 5-string for about four songs. Because it's not my main axe I didn't want to spend to much money. The sound Is quite good, When you have both pickups on it sounds very punchy with lots of highs and lows, good for slapping and fingerpopping! The neck pickup sounds very P-bass like (duh!). My only complaint is de brigde pickup...by itself its sounds like a really thin jazzbass, very whimpy and annoying!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Very narrow stringspacing, not good fore slapping. The B-string is okay ! The body looks very nice...a bit too nice actually...

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
This is fine,heavey as hell!

Peavey rules!!! they will do anything for you!!

I've played enough basses to know what I like and this thing beats the competition in it's pricerange. Yahama is okay if you're into gospel,OLP just SUCKS, and Ibanez sounds like they look...crappy and hissy and so you're better of with a peavey! By the way if you come across a peavey t-40 buy it it ROCKS!!

Mine (a C5-NT/TG) was made in 2002 in Vietnam. Twenty-four frets, 34" scale, five strings. The top is made of a beautiful, satin tiger-eye (Brazilian flamed maple?); core is some sort of hardwood, very similar-looking to teak or palisander; back seems to be composite of pine, beech, maple, teak. The neck is five-pieces of maple and mahogany. Roseewood fingerboard.
Four controls: a volume and tone for each of the two passive humbuckers (Peavey VFL). The giant tuners are of unknown origin, but do they work well. Neck is rather narrow, somehting I like not having a very big hand.

A beginner, I got this bass more for composing than for acting. I play in several different styles, ranging from blues, to metal, to dub, to fusion. This bass is very versatile, and fits well any style. The blend between pickups may produce nasal, middy tones, very suitable for slapping, as well as round, warm, deep chesty ones, that make a perfect basis for blues and rock harmonies. Sound is sort of "traditional", very solid but not immediately impressive. It follows your fingers very well. You can make it sing, or produce very deep, ground-shaking tones. Heavy fingering, and the right amplification, can give you a considerable "growl".
I'm playing it mostly direct-in in my studio. A hint of EQ boost with my old Quadraverb GT gives it that 3d-quality it deserves. Tried it with different amps and D.I. boxes, it clearly showed hiw it is asking for a meaty amplification to really shine. Fat and powerful is better, with this bass, more than flat and surgical. I feel this bass is more at home on stage. It needs action. While very quiet, with a ton of output, and very good for recording, I think it is a little "on chains" when in studio. Just a matter of feeling.
I like it very much, and I'm learning to like it more and more day after day. It is not impressive at first, but it fits your needs perfectly. I feel it will be very difficult to be tired of its sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I received mine with a very low action and a lot of buzz. Adjusting the action with the supplied key was a breeze. Original strings were not so good (not so awfully bad either), so I changed it with a different, much better set. As noted by someone else, pickups come a little on the way when slapping, but - as with any other insturment - you learn how to find your space between or around them.
Woodwork is a masterwork. I hope the workers who did it are aware of how well they did on this bass. No apparent flaws. Perfect finish. The only minor (cosmetic) flaw was a small grit on a fret. The rest of the work is really great.
On the contrary, I'm not too confident on electronics. Metal parts, like goldened knobs, look of a high quality, but I feel the mechanism behind them are not so solid. Other C5's I tried failed immediately on this issue. Anyway, accessing the electronics is very easy from a back cover, so no problem if anything fails.
I give it an 8 because of the electronics; woodworks alone would be a 10.

Reliability/Durability : 7
This bass looks very sturdy, even dangerous... My only fear is the electronics, but it has not give me real troubles yet. I had to tighten the jack connector, that got loose and unscrewed, but it is working fine now. Strap buttons looks solid enough for this rather weighty bass.

Never dealt with them.

I'm a piano/keyboard player, who started playing guitar and bass some months ago. (To be true, I used to play in thrash metal acts in my youth, but I'm not sure that was really "playing"...). This is my first bass, even if it is not the first one I kept in my hands. Other basses I had the joy to "play" in different acts were an American Precision from the late-70s, a Japanese Precision from the early-80s (ok, the first bass I really used on a gig), several various cheap Squier and Ibanez.
I could also keep in my hands some Warwick, MusicMan, Yamaha, an old Zon, and a couple Peavey's own Cirrus. The C5 doesn't feature the evennes of higher-grade instruments. It does not "growl" like a Precision, and is less even than a StingRay. It is way less misurated and ductile than a Cirrus. Surprisingly, it compares favourably to the couple modern Warwick I tried - probably due to my lack of experiene with that kind of modern sound. No possible comparison with all the cheap Squiers and Ibanez I tired, being this one more lively, deep, powerful, solid - in a word: musical.
It gives me all I need from a bass at this price. If it was lost after a whiskey- and sex-night, I would buy another, even as a backup bass in case I could afford a more expensive one as my main instrument.
Just, be warned that not all C5s and C4s are born the same. Before trying this one, I went through a bunch of very bad, or so-so--sounding ones. A C4 was even better than this one, but I needed a 5-stringer. Try it before you buy, or buy from a shop you are confident with.

I think this bass was made in 2000/2001. It was made in Vietnam(so i was told). 24 Frets, neck through body construction.5 srings, fairly narrow string spacing ,5-piece mahagony and maple neck, rosewood fretboard. in contrast to the model already described here mine has a body of solid reddish wood (i'm not sure what exactly) with strong grain, it's very hard. Nice oil finish. Good quality bridge with thick brass bottom plate. Tuners are of unknown origin, but work ok. was equipped with P&J Style EMG Pickups + Volume/Volume/Tone/Tone controls. I rearranged it to PU Sitch/Volume/Tone, for the fourth pot always came in my way when using a pick.

Sound : 8
I play mostly rock and some related stuff.i have used this bass with a laney preamp plus exef 120 Watts tube poweramp into a 15" speaker also a Hughes+Kettner basskick 300. tried several amps in a store with it. effects i use are overdrive and autowah. Due to the EMGs its not noisy at all. sound is warm but well contoured. sustain for days. i like that warm sound with nickel wound strings.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
I got this machine used, but almost mint condition. action was too low for dynamic playing, but after adjustment it worked out fine, playability is still excellent. there was a litlle paint on one of the frets. outstanding finish quality. feels excellent to touch. requires some though (oiling).

Reliability/Durability : 7
I have played this bass on two small venues and owned it for about a year. it has never failed on me...

A well made and ergonomical bass with excellent woodwork and a rather traditional than hifi sound.

Made 2000, I believe this is a european only peavey product and appears to be a budget version of the cirrus series. 24 frets, 5 strings, a volume and tone control for both peavey humbucking passive pick-ups, body made of mahogany and maple, beautiful run through neck made from maple and mahogany

Sound : 8
The two tone controls for the twin pick ups give loads of control over the sound. The passive pick ups are remarkably sensitive and work well for the lower b string but don't quite give an all round full sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Action is good but the lower strings are a little slack. Strings are quite close together which makes slap more difficult but plectrum style enjoyable. The two pick-ups don't leave enough space for the hand when slapping.

Reliability/Durability : 8
The body is a masterpiece. The wood on this bass is gorgeous and just does not gain any marks on the hardwood. I have scraped this down the side of many surfaces and scratched them rather than the bass. Run through neck is very strong and saves much unwanted hassle. Tuning pegs are average but don't hold for as long as some other basses in this price range. Only other fault is that the lead socket comes loose after a few months and requires tightning.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Not had any problems yet but I found peavey very helpful with my amp and would guess their customer service is just as good any other times

Overall Rating : 8
Overall this bass is very good for the price paid. The appearance of this bass is better than the playability. Should I have to change this bass I would happily buy peavey again or the or the fender stu ham urge II. A very good buy and excellent fun.
