Features : 9
2006 Cirrus 5 string, made in Meridian, Mississippi. 24 fret neck-thru fretted. Walnut back and neck, with Bubinga top and pau ferro fingerboard. Volume, blend, bass, mid, treble with 18 volt electronics. 35" scale with case, straplocks, and a couple allen wrenches

Sound : 10
This bass is beautiful! When I opened the case I was blown away by the craftsmanship of this instrument. I play rock/heavy rock through an Eden WT-800 and 2 4-10 XLT's, and the tone is rich and full, with a slight bump in the mid/low mid frequencies. The bass is dead quiet on the settings I have used, and I am sure it will be wonderful in the studio.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The action from the factory is very low and fast. Almost too low. When digging in, there is considerable buzzing. Heavier gauge strings (I tune down 1/2 step) and raising the action a tad will most likely correct this. I will be taking into the shop where I got it for adjustments to my taste. Pickups are a little high for my liking, but again, a simple adjustment. There is not a single flaw on this guitar. It is crafted perfectly. Not a sanding mark, glue line...nothing! The bubinga top is a bit lighter and not as figured as the bubinga topped ones in the brochures, but very classy none the less. The fret work is also excellent, with no file marks or high spots I have felt.

Reliability/Durability : 10
As with most Peavey products, this will last forever. The hardware is of good quality, especially the bridge. I assume the hand rubbed finish will need a waxing occasionally, but the beauty of the guitar is worth the effort. Straplocks are solid. As with any guitar, gigging with out a backup is irrisponsible in my opinion.

Customer Support : 10
I have never dealt with Peavey. My dealer is absolutly the best I have ever dealt with. He stands behind the products he sells, and I can only assume the company does also. (The rating is for my dealers service)

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing pretty steady for 20+ years. This is the nicest bass I have ever owned. I replaced a warwick corvette double buck, and an ernie ball stingray with this bass. My gig rig is an Eden WT-800 and 2 4-10 XLT cabs. I also have a couple Peavey amps for rehearsal, and a bunch of P.A. gear from various manufacturers. My decision was between the Warwick thumb 5, Elrick 5, and this Peavey. After weighing service, price and tone/playability, the Cirrus won hands down. If you get a chance, try one of these out. I think you will be very, very surprised.
