This bass is the exception - the exception to the rule that you need to spend at least $500.00 dollars or more or your getting a poor bass. The Peavey Fury is the only bass IMO - that you can get for anywhere from $100 to $500 dollars, depending - that will play with ANY bass made. The sound is that muddy pbass sound that everyone loves. The bass is light and sturdy. It has a vibe all its own - the thing that will amaze you is how when you play it over and over you will be saying "how did they make this quality bass at such a cheap price?" Well Peavey just priced it fairly - all the other guys are ripping us off. I have owned boutique basses up in the thousands as well as vintage Fenders and this bass is my bass - I could pay more and get some fancy smancy bass but this little gem will take you through the night and people will come up to you after the gig and tell you how great you sounded and want to know what you are doing to get such a great sound out of a Peavey. It is just that darn good - you will never want to dump thousands into some Koa flame maple topped bubinga lined birdseye mapled bass again!

The great thing about the Fury is the action is set very low - which leaves you room to arrange the action the way you like it - I personally like low/mid set action. This bass has a fact action and your hand will fly along the fretboard.

It is a workhorse and stays in tune - how I don't know but all I usually have to do is tune before the show and check between sets, but I rarely have to change it - it just stays where it should - this peach is awesome.

Fender Precision Plus is the only bass that I like better than this Peavey - but I honestly play the Peavey Fury more. I have four and I will probably buy several more before it is over.

This is a simple older style sound but is amazing, For under $20 you can buy a P bass wiring kit on eBay. That will help the sound and tone control immensely and get rid of that hum or buzz. It will be better than any Fender Bass you can get for under $1500

When looking for a new bass, I went to every Music store in the area, trying out every 4 String Bass I could find. Finally the sales guy at guitar center said "I got a bass for you to try, it's already sold ...but I just want you to try it and let me know what you think...I have the same Bass"

He came out with this beat up scratched up Peavey...and it played better than ANY bass I tried out...much better than the Geddy Lee Fender even...I was amazed. Ended up finding one in pretty good shape off their website for $149. Just feels so much better than even the fender lite! It is a little top heavy but the body is so light, what can you expect??! Even when I got it before I set it up...it still played better than anything in the stores I tried.

I will be taking this Bass on tour with me...and plan to buy more when I see them up for sale...amazing deal on this amazing little known bass. People sometimes wonder why I play such a simple Bass...until I let them play it and they all just say....wow!!
This Bass is like a timex...can play all night and not need to tune up even after hard slapping. It's simple...and that's why it's so great.

Generic Made in USA 1989 Fury, broomstick neck, P pups, F style bridge w/ one mismatched saddle, F style tuners that have developed a rattle. Cheap looking 1 ply pick guard. 21 frets, maple board. Pretty simple. Body wood is poplar, I believe. Not a lot of features, but that's not a negative. It's a P bass clone, black, white pickguard, aftermarket chrome knobs.

I have had a bunch of diff basses. I buy 'em, sell 'em, like 'em, hate 'em, the usual. The old Peav is a keeper. Sound is what the perfect P bass would sound like. The Peavey Pups are hot and sound amazing. I generally run this through a 100 watt Genz Benz rig and always run Ernie Ball med flats on it. I can't say enough about how great the sound is on this poor old thing. People are stunned at what many consider a "starter" bass from Peavey back in the day sounds like. Amazing. Not noisy, original pots and wiring going strong. Used for all types of music. Fat, yummy, tone-tastic.

I got this used for 63 bucks ages ago. It stunk. It was sticky w/nicotine. I scrubbed w/a rag soaked in ammonia and got the smell off. Got some rattley tuners that I silenced by putting drops of super glue in the knobs, reattaching them to their shafts. Neck was missing a screw and the hole was stripped ou. Tooth picks and a mismatched screw and it was good to go. Body is a bit thinner than a P bass, and neck dive requires a fat strap. pretty light overall, though. Really gotta say that the single ply guard was a cheap option on Peavey's part. Body has some dings and dents, neck too. Neck is like a J bass, body is like a P bass. And the action is lower than my LesPaul's - it's uncanny.

Simple as a shovel. Or a canoe paddle. Works great, never, ever let me down. Bullet proof excellentness. Does Peavey still make 'em like this? tI would never go on w/out a backup idf using a Fender product, but this is the craziest work horse ever. Can't say enough about it, quite possibly the best made bass ever.

I HAVE dealt with Peavey, and they were really, really nice. Sen't me a saddle, free! Great people. Same w/their Amp people, outrageously helpful.

I am constantly amazed that this beat up old dog is ultimately my "best" bass. 63 bucks! The sound, playability, reliabilty, quiet pups, etc. make this a crazy winner. Whenever I buy some new fancy big $ rig, I end up comparing it to this bass and it loses and goes to eBay. Freakish.

this is a 1990s USA Peavey Fury precision bass copy. It has a maple neck. First off let me give you the run down of the basses I've owned: 1960s Fender short scale music master bass, 1974 Fender Precision bass, 1980s Japan made Tokai apb-57 57 reissue bass and this one. Of all of these I would choose the Peavey fury as the easiest to play and lightest weight bass. I am convinced Peavey makes the best basses and for the price they are unbeatable.

You can play anything on this. Pickups sound equal or better than any fender. I believe they are alnico magnets. Quiet. Not sure how the shielding is on it but never felt the need to check

Perfect action. Easy to set up. Best neck of any bass I've ever played. If you can't play this bass you need to give up because this is the easiest playing bass out there. Neck is skinny and tiny. So easy to move around on this I love it. The tuners seem to be a little bit more modest than fender or tokai but they've never gone out of tune to me and actually hold tune better than Fender or tokai. Lighter weight than both Fender and tokai. It doesn't feel like a fender though. It does feel a little cheaper all around but plays and sounds much better

It's peavey. That means indestructible. I've heard stories of people dropping these out of four story windows on cement and not putting a dent on them. If I was buying an instrument for my kid or a gigging musician who needed a instrument I could rely on no matter what I would take this bass.

I will keep this bass forever and don't care if people make fun of me. I've had the best and I would take peavey over them. It's like an old dodge or something. It's cheap but it does the job and you can depend on it. I can remember a time when I thought peavey was a joke. I would only play vintage, expensive instruments. Then thought MIJ japan was great (it is but everyone else caught on to it too now people are paying three times what it's worth.) Then I took a second look at Peavey. Hey, there great. $85 I paid for this off ebay and it's like new. A USA made fender copy. I've thought about just buying a bunch of these and putting them in my closet. One should last forever though. If your short on dough, don't play bass but guitar and just one to noodle on get one of these. I will keep this for life and would like to get a foundation to go with it

Built like a tank. Somebody stole it once and it was my brother in law. She freaked and I calmed her by saying we could knock down the wall with it and yank it through to the other side and it would still be in tune. I hope eveybody on payday in that mining town played it in the pawnshop that Friday. But I was gonna pawn him if he didn't bring it back. He did and it was relatively in tune. He forgot the case here when he stole it.

I bought this from the internet in some earlier day. When it got here it had a 3x5 card folded up in the neck pocket and the action was crap. One pickup was dead and it had three strings. This thing has come gratefully to life and taught me luthier skills. I added the Basslines and it just sprang to life. It will never leave me. Easy truss rod adjustments with the proper tool.

I guess bricks stay in tune more consistently. But what's the tune of a brick?

I asked them for a truss rod tool and it got here by Friday. Two of them in a hand addressed envelope. AJ on the website answers questions all day long. Fabulous.

It's like a precision, really, but with a playable neck. Chose because I was poor but can play. So I had to budget. I sought cheap and American and ebayed. Have since upgraded to other bass names but I keep going back to that sound. It's unique and versatile.

Since it was the first piece of equipment I ever bought, I've used this bass with every piece of equipment I've ever had. I ran it through a Peavey TNT 130 when I was a kid, a Sunn stack when I played professionally, and a Crate bass amp when I was poor. I'm currently using a Trace Elliot RAH250SMX with a Hartke 4.5xl cab. The tube amp responds best with a great passive bass for that incredible growly tone. I've never played a bass that does that better than the Peavey, but I hope to build one someday.

Great passive precision/jazz Steve Harris/Geddy Lee sound. Tone for days. I've recorded and played live with it. It's light, well-balanced and durable. The Peavey is my favorite bass in the world. I've spent a lot of money on other basses I've wanted, and none of them can top the Fury.

The bass was a floor model, and I chose it because the three pieces of wood were perfectly matched. It looks like a single piece of wood. The chrome hardware still looks as good as it did 20 years ago when I bought it. This bass was perfectly set up, and so was the one they pulled out of the box in the back that didn't look as good as the floor model.

This bass is a tank. It was built back when Peavey built everything in their plant in Meridian, Mississippi and they used the best tools, the most critical quality-control and had to do it better than everyone else in order to survive.

I bought it with saved up lunch money when I was in eighth grade. I've done everything to this bass. I accidentally launched it across a friend's front yard trying to throw the bass over my shoulder like Steve Vai, not realizing I needed strap locks. I snapped all the strings off it in high school, threw it across a room in college, caught it in a ceiling fan jamming at a friend's house in junior high school, I've refinished it at least five times, put stickers on it, taken it apart 10 times, replaced the pots in it (I didn't know all I had to do was clean them), and it always comes up grinning, and always sounds great. I've never had to adjust the truss rod in 20 years. The ceiling fan bent the shaft on one of the tuners so it doesn't turn as well as it used to, but it stays in perfect tune. I've bought other basses, but when I want the best tone I always go back to my Peavey.

I did break one of the plastic tabs off the back of the pickup and had to put a flat washer under the back of the pickup to hold it to the pickguard. The pickguard itself has warped over the years, either from all the paint and chemicals I've put on it, the number of times I've removed it, or just plain old wearing out.

I also modified the hold-down for the D and G strings with flat washers years ago. I don't remember why I did it, but I met Billy Sheehan at one of his gigs in Austin and he suggested it to me. You'd think I'd remember the conversation better, but I do remember that it improved the way the bass played. How cool is that?

I took it apart about two weeks ago and I'm converting the finish to blueburst and re-fretting it. It doesn't really need re-fretting, but I need the practice. I'm also going to tru-oil the back of the neck to give it that old American Charvel feel. The fact that none of the wood has ever cracked or split or broken with all the abuse I've given it is amazing.

The hard-shell case is moulded polyethelyne I think. It's indestructable, but the rod that keeps the lid from opening too wide popped out after about 8 years and the foam lining of the top came loose and I had to glue it back down. That said, it's in better condition now than my Ibanez case was after a year. I think the case was free with the bass.

I bought a truss rod wrench and a new graphlon nut about two months ago. Peavey was incredbly helpful and friendly. The parts cost next to nothing and they shipped them quickly. Their website also has loads of information, manuals, and a forum with mods to answer questions.

I've had this bass for 20 years now. I can't believe it. I skipped lunch for a year and played bass on an electric guitar while I had this bass on lay-away. I got lucky that the only music store in walking distance from my house was a Peavey dealer.

If this bass were stolen, I'd scour the earth for another one. If my restoration goes well, I'll probably buy another one or maybe a Foundation from the same era.

I had a friend that bought a black Precision at about the same time and we couldn't keep the neck straight or the hardware from coming loose. It sounded good but it was a piece. I've never regretted buying the Peavey. Of course I dreamed about it for a year before it was mine. I'd go to the music store to visit it. I certainly can't say I haven't gotten more than my money's worth out of it. Now it's a classic. Maybe it'll be worth what I paid for it someday! Doesn't matter because I think it'll probably be cremated with me. If the urn rattles, it's those indestructable machine heads.

This is a 1984 Fury bass, before they started making them with the split P pickup. Mine has the slanted, 'super ferrite' pickup. Made in USA. 21 frets, 4 string. Volume and Tone control, Passive electronics. Your simple 'P' style bass setup. Not a ton of features but just what you need...No nonsense.

Mine has the natural wood finish, with triple-ply black pickguard, and maple neck and fretboard. The body is a nice thick slab of Ash...with a nice satin finish over it. Tuners are very Fender like, yet nicely compact. Regular '34 inch scale. Neck is chunky like a P-bass neck but not overly fat.

This thing screams vintage Fender P tone. The slanted 'super ferrite' is pretty hot for a passive pickup. BIG low end thump, with clear and crisp highs. Not much in the way of midrange, but if you want mid-heavy tone you should be looking into a Jazz style bass anyways.

I play a little of everything...and this bass is great for any kind of fingerstyle funk, reggae, punk, ska or rock music. Perfect sound for classic rock...very vintage. For louder genres like thrash metal and such...it would hold it's own, but I would want the higher output of an active bass.

Not much variety in the tone, but like any P-bass...this bass was meant for simplicity. The tone knob is pretty much useless. Turning it down basically changes the basses' awesome tone to mud. So just leave it cranked. Not at all noisy through a good quality amp.

Bass is 20 years old so I seriously doubt its the factory setup. But action is great as is...no adjustments needed. Seems like it was recently setup by someone who knew what they were doing. I had to adjust the pickup a tad because it was a little too close to the strings for my liking, but thats purely preference. The pickup mounting ring doubles as a great thumb rest!

The body is a gorgeous slab of Ash, with nice wood grain showing. Suprisingly light compared to my other basses.

Construction is top notch like most Peaveys from '78 - early 80's. To steal a quote from a similar old peavey review, this thing is "built like a soviet T-40 tank on its way to berlin." If you closed your eyes and played this bass, youd think you had a $1000 USA Fender in your hands.

This bass will absolutly withstand the toughest live playing and road abuse you could dish out. Hardware is rock solid. I dont trust the strap buttons, though. They look ok, but im just paranoid about dropping basses. Get straplocks if you play live. I play this bass regularly without a backup.

Peavey is one of the best companies when it comes to customer support. You can order the peavey truss rod wrench for only 5 bucks shipped, (you'll eventually need it, you cant use just an allen key for neck adjustments.) although I havent had to use it yet.

You can even find the original owners manual on their website...And they will date your bass with a simple email with the serial number.

I played guitar for about 3-4 years, before getting caught up in the bass world a year and a half ago. I own another peavey bass, a 1987 patriot. A Yamaha BB200 which I defretted, a couple acoustic guitars and a washburn electric. If this bass got stolen id be super pissed and probably look for another one, but I most likely wouldnt find one in this good of shape again.

Old Peaveys are fantastic values. Always on Ebay for cheap because not alot of people know about them. Try to buy between the model years of '78(when they started making them), and the early to mid '80s. In the late '80s their quality may have slipped a little in my opinion, since I also own an '87 peavey bass that still decent is not nearly as solid and reliable as my older Fury.

Typical ?P? bass sound. Real lowdown. Needs EQ on the amp to boost the high end response if that?s what you want, but can?t quite get the ring like a ?J? bass even with some serious fooling with the EQ. High output pickups compared to other ?P? basses I tried.

When I got this guitar it had a few nicks and dings in the wood so I decided to refinish it. It has a tight neck to body fit and upon stripping it down, I discovered a nicely patterned multi-piece hardwood body. I stained it in a medium dark walnut shade and finished it in hand-rubbed satin polyurethane for an oiled finish look. This bass plays wonderfully and hangs real nice ? comfortable and balanced.

Solid Guitar. Looks like it withstood a few years of hard use and survived.

I?m new at owning a bass guitar. I have played over the years but never owned a bass or an amplification system specifically for bass. I?m very quickly becoming ?preferential? as to equipment needs. I like the ?P? style basses. Simple yet solid. No extra pots, switches or BS. I prefer to shape my sound from the amp EQ and the effects on board. I have a Behringer BX3000T 300 watt head which provides that capability.

This is a USA made 4 string Fury, vintage 1983, Peavey's version of the Precision Bass concept. Contoured solid body finished in a black poly, solid white pickguard, maple neck with 4 in-line tuners, and top-loading bent steel bridge. The passive electrics are simply a split P type pickup with a single volume and tone. On the plus side, the maple neck is thin on the order of a J bass; on the minus side, the pickguard (being just 1 piece solid white plastic) appears - and is - cheap. A 3 ply tortoiseshell guard would probably make this look fabulous but it appears Peavey put the value of this bass in its function, not its looks. As I got it, there was no case or bag or even knobs to turn the volume and tone pots but I can't complain since the price was right.

Sound, this is where this bass shines. This is the finest passive bass sound of any I have. There is no noise to the pickups, and each string delivers a rich, full sound that never gets muddy or indistinct. I have only run this through small practice amp but this bass is alive with sound that can be colored with the tone control and where I pick on the strings. The pickup is just the stock original but it has a lot of output, though not on the order of the popular aftermarket types. I've A/B'd this against 2 MIM J basses and a Tele and this is definitely the winner for sound and that elusive element of "tone". Playing this bass is almost effortless, though the fact that I had the nut replaced and the bass professionally set up is likely part of this. Yet, there are certain instruments that just feel right when they're in my hands and this is definitely one of those.

The condition in which I found this bass was dreadful. Part of the nut was broken away at the E string, there were no knobs on the volume and tone pots, only 3 of the 4 screws that hold the neck to the body were present, the bridge was rusty in spots, and the body was scratched and chipped. But, the neck was fairly straight and there were no signicant dents or cracks in the body so, for less than $50, I took a chance. I disassembled everything, adjusted the neck, cleaned the rust off the bridge and the saddles, installed new knobs on the pots, and touched up the chips and scratches on the body with automotive touch-up paint after a thorough cleaning. At that point, I could tell that this bass had live feel, a crisp and distinct sound even though the E string was inoperative. So, I got the nut replaced and the bass set up by a pro and the sound and the feel is magical.
I really don't buy anything new, I much prefer finding a tired and worn instrument and seeing if it can be restored to a semblance of its former glory, such as it might have been. (Rating is as restored, not as found.)

This bass survived over 20 years being treated as something less than a musical instrument. As it's restored, it will definitely handle live play. As the neck is thin and unfinished, I would expect that the truss rod would need tweaking now and again but this isn't a major shortcoming. I haven't gigged in nigh on 25 years now but I never gigged without a backup. Yes, any instrument I used in the day was solid but, in the same way that a police officer carries a backup piece, a musician should always have a backup, just in case the unexpected or unthinkable happens.

Peavey has excellent customer support with someone available via phone or email and manuals available in a PDF format online at their website. I called to order a T-40 truss rod wrench a few days after I'd bought this bass and I mentioned it in passing to the tech to whom I was speaking. He asked me if I had the serial number and I gave it to him as the bass was sitting near me and he said that it was 1983 production. Friendly people and top-notch service.

I started playing way back in the '60s, quit music totally in '79, and only recently got back to fooling around basses and guitars again. I've got 20-odd basses along with about 10 guitars and an indeterminate number of amps. I bought this bass as restoration project and it's been a real surprise as far as the sound and playability go. The only 2 things I'd change on this bass would be the pickguard as the stock one is bland and the lack of finish on the neck. Plain to look at, but sounds great.

I bought my peavey fury back in 2000 at a pawn shop in baltimore, MD for $125. I bought it for my father. Then i bought a Fender J-Bass/P-Bass. And gave that one to him anf take the Peavey. My fathers been playing nearly twice my age.(I'm 22) Anyway a few days later my father said give me my Peavey back needless to say. I'm leaning to play on the Fender not the cheaper Peavey.

You know the old-school Fury: One "slant" pickup, volume, tone. What else do you need?

The pickup mounting ring is molded with a built-in thumbrest. That's super handy!

The pickup doesn't look to be a standard size, so I don't know if you could even get an aftermarket upgrade. Of course, if you wanted to be anal about it, you could send the pickup to Seymour Duncan himself to custom wind it for you.

The maple neck is a bit on the skinny side, sort of halfway between a Fender Jazz and an Ibanez Soundgear.

The bridge is a bit flimsy. It looks to be stamped metal, rather than machined.

The tuners are solid.

I don't know what the body wood is. I suppose it's alder.

The bass came with a surprisingly solid molded hard case.

Like a P-bass. No surprise, considering the pickup configuration.

Great for just about anything but stuff like fusion or prog rock. But why would you want to play that junk anyhow? Stick with the basics: Motown, Funk, Mullet-rock, anything where you need a nice, warm, round tone.

The pickup gives a little bit of hum, but it's not noticeable in a live setting.

It may just be me, but the tone control is just about useless. It will roll off the highs for you from a well balanced tone to solid mud. I took mine out. I guess I voided the warranty, har har har...

I bought it well used, so I can't really comment on the fit and finish out of the factory. The guy who owned it before me took pretty good care of it. No complaints.

Unless you're a freaking lunatic, this bass should last forever.

One note: You may want to replace the bridge with something a bit more substantial.

A great, simple bass. You want a P-bass but don't want to spend the money? Get this.

This is for a Peavey Fury IV bass. Apparently it's made in Korea, although I certainly can not tell the difference; Korean-made guitar products are notorious for their lack of quality, but this bass outshines most instruments of much high price that I've seen made in the USA. It has 2 active pickups, a volume knob, tone knob, blend pickup knob, and separate controls for bass, treble, and midrange. I subtracted one point on the large amount of features, as this generally gets in my way, and another point because the blend knob for the pickups crackles a little bit when it's turned. Plus, to me, there really aren't a lot of good sounds that you can get coming out of this bass: the neck pickup by itself sounds too transparent while the bridge pickup sounds too trebly and doesn't rumble. Keeping it between both pickups exactly then equalizing it in the amp and adding effects has been the way to go for me.

I've played in two bands with this bass. The first is my band, which does a lot of punk and ska music. I generally find this bass to be extremely well suited to both. I find the setting I mentioned - straight between both pickups - to be one of the most amazing bass tones I've ever heard. If you equalize it right, it blends perfectly with the rythmn of the guitar for punks songs so that you're just thickening up the sound. For ska, it stays just punchy enough to stand out through the treble-dialed guitar but retains warmth. I recorded our demo with this bass on a Roland digital 4-track; the result was fantastic! Drums (with just an overhead area mic) and bass (direct input, no effects or anything, just natural bass sound) sounded completely professional, top-of-the-line. I also did some work for a metal band heavily influenced by Tool. These guys have a little bit better equipment than my high school punk rock band: dual rectifiers, mesa studio preamps, tube power amps, half-stacks, etc. I walked in to the rehearsal with my heavy-ass Peavey TNT bass amp and my Fury IV. After a sound check, the lead guitarist asked me how the hell I had such a good bass tone coming out of my shitty amp. With just a touch of chorus, I was hitting better than their studio-recorded demo's bass tone. With this job, I learned that the Peavey really shines on playing higher frets, playing bass chords, and handling effects like chorus and flange. This is truly an amazing bass!

I didn't really know a lot about basses when I bought this instrument. I just walked into the music store and picked up the affordable one that had the best acoustic sound and action. Stupid of me, I know, but I got a great bass. I had figured I would replace the pickups and electronics if I needed to; there was no need. This bass has the lowest effective action I've ever felt; it's easier to bend than my old guitar.

I've dropped it a lot, and it rarely ever goes out of tune. Feel solid as a rock. Plus, I've never had a Peavey product break on its own accord. I've done stupid things with them, and have watched them break, but they've always held their own to even abusive practice and stage use.

I've never asked for Peavey customer supporr and I didn't read any warranty. This is the first new peavey product I've bought.

This is truly an amazing bass. One of the best values on the market today.

Basically, it's a P-Bass knockoff. Staggered pickups in the middle, one volume, one tone. White finish that got covered in stickers (I was 14). I didn't know shit about guitars, so everythign stayed stock and I never got the intonation adjusted. And it managed to hold up damn well for about 5 years.

No real sound to speak of.....kinda sound slike a less full P-Bass. Kinda noisy (needed to be grounded and shiielded). Plenty bright for me when iw as trying to get the 90s Epitaph records sound (Bad Religion, Pennywise, NOFX). Equally mediocre live and recorded.

Good action, nice and natural to hold. Nothing fancy, but definitely better than many basses in the same price range or slightly higher. Never ha da strap button break or come loos. tuners always stayed firm. Bridge never gave me too much trouble. The neck did eventually warp and buzz.

Yeah,t hat neck...i abused the shit out of that bass (not on purpose, I just didn't know how to treat and instrument). The neck did warp and start buzzing, but it could have been fixed by adjusting the truss. Of course, i didn't know that and went and got a new bass. Until it got too bad to play, it never let me down. I've dropped it,t hrown it, got a big spiked bracelet caught int he body and ripped a chunk of wood out. It kept going.

It was my first bass, and it wa sgreat to learn on. It's lack of any real "tone" to it's self was a blessing in diguise...i was forced to really learn to use amp eq, effects, playing style etc to get the sounds I wanted. Cheap, reliable, durable....the prefect beginners bass or backup bass. Definitely better than the Squier P-Bass. If you want a P-Bass and can't afford it, gett his instead of the Squier. if you need a bass for just starting out, this is a good place to start.

my fury iv is 2001 or 2002 korean made (i think), with dark red finish (which is beautiful and the only one i've seen with this finish), has 20 frets, two VFL humbuckers, active electronics, master volume, active, mid, bass and treble controls, quilted maple cap body, rosewood fretboard and an open truss rod thing. overall pretty good for the price, although nothing like a case or gig bag was included, i had to get them seperately. but this bass is fantastic, with the thin neck etc which makes it so much easier to play. The humbuckers and active electronics give me that extra punch my previous bass was missing (a crappy ibanez).

i play anything alternative, such as funk, punk, ska, and of course good old fashioned rock, and i must say it suits all those styles. it's versatile and i love the two humbuckers. I have a recently purchased Marshall Bass State 65 watt combo which sounds pretty damn good and emphasises the low end punch and sweet high end tone much better than my crappy old practise amp. I've played a couple of gigs with some monster Peavey amp (borrowed) and i must say the bass and the amp work so well together, well, i mean, they're made by the same company!

the variety of the sounds it can make is pretty damn good - it has a 3 band active eq so i can get a nice warm sound out of it or something a little more contemporary if i feel like it.

live and in the studio this bass is fantastic, no doubt about it. im in a band with some mates and after i got the peavey it made my playing sound so much better!

when i got this bass there was a bit of string buzz, which i sorted out myself, but apart from that it was well set up.

as i said before this bass works brilliantly live and the hardware can survive my playing technique and my occasional carelessness. unfortunately ive messed up my truss rod (i think) as there was no instructions on how to adjust it, and so, being the fool i am, i tried to adjust it and did something that made it not work, and so the strings are little too far off the fretboard for my liking.

i have been playing for about two and a half years now, and i can confidently say this is the best bass i have owned so far. i am from Britain and i got the bass in a really great shop in clearwater FL while on holiday there, and as it survived the ten hour journey back across the atlantic i am pretty confident in its durability etc. I wish i had asked how to adjust the truss rod, and if anyone has had the same problem as me or knows how to fix it (i dont want to get an unnecessary service for it) please dont hesitate to EMAIL ME!

when i was looking for a new bass i tried a mexican made fender j-bass and a musicman stingray copy to name but a few, and none of them matched up to this magnificent instrument. i love it

This beautiful bass was made in 2001 in Korea. She had 21 frets. She was made in solid maple neck with rosewood fretboard and 15 inch fingerborad radius. Peavey put a single master volume control and 3-band active equalizer.In bonus, I've got a case, 5 feet cable and a srap!!!! :-)

It`s a 2001 korean-made Fury 4, Cherry red with a nice quilt top. 4 strings, 21 frets (I would rather have 24 but, hey nothing's perfect...) 2 active Peavey VFL humbucker with volume, balance, bass mid treble. No center position though... Body and neck is maple, with a rosewood fingerboard. Kind of heavy-metal-looking, but upper frets access is un-beatable, 34" scale of pure heaven, wide, thin and superfast!!!!!

I play blues, folk, pop and hard rock and this is an incredible bass. Its versatile and sounds better than basses that cost twice as much (Hello ESP-LTD ????)I use an Ampeg B-100r with a Danelectro chorus milkshake, and a vintage Big Muff and with my poor workingman setup, it covers everything I do. This is an awesome bass for the slap-and-pop style. I love it. The only other bass I'd rather own (and deserve a 10) is a Peavey Cirrus 4...

I receive this bass and it was flawless. The action is really low and it doesn't buzz. All the adjustments were okay, but, hey, I am doing gigs 10 nights a month, so one of my best friend is the luthier... The double-action truss rod is working really fine, and it is one of the greatest feature on a bass so cheap...

I've been using it for 1 year now and it's by far the best bass I've ever had. I've 100 shows with it and, save for a blasted volume pot, Nothing has broke on it... A suggestion to peavey: put some glue on the string guide under the bridge, cause when you put the strings through the bridge, you lose them!!!!!!!!! The finish is solid, I play hard and it managed to survive this hard year with 2-3 scratches max... Here in Canada, because we have a long winter, all guitars have to be adjusted 3-4 times a year, and mine is no exception. Also, I never bring another bass live, but I plan to purchase a Fender to have one crap-sounding bass ah ah ah !!!!

No trouble with the support, I haven't need any.. The Peavey-dealer in my hometown (quebec city) is super friendly and their luthiers are the best.

This is a perfect bass for intermediate and pro, because of its features, such as: good look, excellent playability, incredible sounds. Usually when people saw the Peavey tag, they go : "Peavey, yuk!!!" But when they hear it, they asked where they can get one!!! I compared this bass with other basses: Fender (crap), Music Man (not for me, those baseball bat necks) Ibanez (shit-sounding electronics) and Godin BG-IV (a really close second, the problem is, it costs twice as much!!!!) This american peavey fury was made circa 1986. it has a well applied black finish with a white pick guard. It has a solid figured maple neck which i defretted myself and it has 4 strings. It has a single passive split coil p-bass pickup and vol/tone controls. 34" scale bolt-on.

I play jazz and fusion so i took the frets out to compliment my style. the pickup is fairly bright and clear thru my amp although it buzzes when you crank everything up. the pickup is above average. it could use a little more low end umph though.

I like the action medium low and it was set a little to high for my liking but all it took was a little tweaking. the pickups were great from the start. there were no flaws.

its indestructible...it never goes out of tune. it never needs adjusting.

for the price...there is nothing better. i would take this over a mexi or japanise fender.

Ive been playing it for about 5 years. Like all american made products, this was built to last. Im finally moving on to a Austin 5 string. Wasnt for the color which I am god sick of looking at the black and white. I would play it till it broke...

I have a 99' fury II, it was made in japan. It has a 3 band eq and volume control with a single humbucking pickup. It is active.

I play a rock, punk style and with some EQing it puts out a quite sufficient sound. I play on an SVT4-pro(ampeg) with a classic ampeg 8X10 cabinet. The bass plays bright (with a pic) but can change by fingering. The positioning of the pickup helps aid in many different sounds because of it's ease in repostioning your hand around it. It's definatly better stage than studio.

I had to slightly adjust the action and pickups but the bridge was adjusted and tuned nicely. all screws were straight and tight.

I've been playing shows with it for 1 1/2 years and have had only to replace the battery, and I have used it and trust it to play a gig by itself.

It is my first bass and my baby and a GREAT all around bass, recommend it to anyone looking for a great cheap bass (great quality compared to other basses in it's price range, by far)
I compared it to Fender, Ibanez, and Squire and thought the sound and most expecially the feel of the peavey.

2000 model, made in korea. sunburst quilted finish, beautiful. It has 5 controls, volume, pan between pickups, mid, treble, bass, active. two pickups.
don't know what the body is but the neck is maple with rosewood F/B.
It also has string thru body. the bridge and tuners have a peweter color and are somekind of metal, not plastic like some other bass's.
The neck is very thin and very easy to play, i don't need my plyers to hold the strings down, as on my other bass. (Cortez P-bass copy)hey, whadya want,It was free, the cortez that is,)

I played this bass along with other basses at this music store. Although they didn't have some brands I was interested in, of the ones they had, this was the best sounding and easist to play in this price range (i.e. 400 to 600 clams) In the store i played it thru an SWR. i don'tknow what model, but it was a big one. It was the most versital of the basses i tried. I could get all the sounds I wanted to hear from this bass. Keep in mind this is a $400 bass. it ain't gonna sound like a $1500 bass, oh no. One problem, the pickups buzz when the treble is maxed out. Not in the store, but in my studio. When i record I have to be close to my computer, as this controls everything, and because of the close proximity of the monitor I get a nasty buzz. But not a big problem, I will eliminate it.

When i pulled off the shelf, it was set up perfect. I don't know if the store set it up or if it came that way, but it could not be better. Not flaws, no rust, every thing tight

I'd buy this bass again, but maybe another color. What really makes this bass so special is the way it plays. so easy and effortless. As I said now I can use my plyers for what they were intended. I played a Fender jazz, an Ibanez, EDB600, EDB605, some other Ibanez's
some other Peaveys, ESPF205, and several others i can't remember. I chose this one for the bang for the buck mind set. and it possessed the best action and felt the best in my hand.

Made in USA, 1990 Peavey Fury bass. Snow white with a W/B/W pickguard. One-piece maple neck, clear gloss finish. One passive Peavey P-type pickup, chrome bridge with Schaller-type tuners. Volume and tone controls. Basically Peavey's version of the Fender Precision bass.

Sounds like a P bass, but is a little thin in the lows. A replacement SD pickup is in the works. I rewired the pickup into series mode and added an all-controls-bypass switch and now the stock pickup sounds MUCH nicer. This bass will ultimately have a Schaller roller bridge, SD Hot-P or QP pickup, and DM SR2000 strings.

Impeccable fit and finish. Bass is almost 12 years old, and looks like it was made yesterday. NO flaws. I wish Peavey still made the old Furys and Foundations, they would be a viable alternative to the asian Fenders and such that clog the market these days.

This bass will handle anything it's asked to handle. Solid everything. I would not be ashamed to play this bass at any occasion. No backup needed. Old Peavey basses are SOLID.

This bass will compare favorably with any other P copy under $1000. Solid, dependable meat-and-potatoes bass for the masses. Prices are still very reasonable. I love everthing about this bass, especially with the wiring mods that I made. Once my upgrades are completed this bass will ROCK. I also a 1989 Fury; see my earlier review of it for more info.

This bass is a 2000/2001 import model that has just about all the features you could wish for. It's a 5 string with active humbuckers. It has a beautiful transparent blue quilted maple top and a thin wide neck. It plays very easily and has great tonal control. 5 pots control master volume, active pickup control, low, mid, high eq. All hardware is a matte silver finish which looks absolutely amazing. Everything seems solid, but I need to get the action adjusted on the low B string (it rattles a little) and I need to get one of the pots cleaned because it crackles when turned.

The Fury 5 has a lot of tonal control and sounds great, as I said earlier. I like to play heavy rock music as well as acoustic guitar pieces. It handles them both wonderfully. I am currently searching for a preamp which I can use for direct recording, but I have played it through an SWR workingman 15 and it sounded amazing. Until I get a preamp, I'm playing it through a POD Pro (guitar version) and it does the job, but doesn't do it great.

The action seems pretty good except for the low B string which needs to be adjusted. The pickups are setup great and the finish is pretty damn good. Not the best quilted maple I've ever seen, but nice just the same.

I haven't had much time to test out the durability, but it seems really solid. Nothing loose or rattling, and no problems with the electronics (other than that one pot).

Overall, this bass rocks. I've been playing guitar for six years, and picked up bass a little while ago. I run everything mostly through preamps or mic'd cabs into a digi001 which feeds my G3 450. All dsp and eq-ing is done digitally through a sequencer. I knew what kind of sound I was looking for, and this bass delivered. I debated between this and an Ibanez SR405 because they are extremely similar. The Fury 5 won out for a few reasons: it's cheaper, it has a nice finish (Ibanez SR405 only comes in black or natural), it's got hot looking hardware, and it plays great. If anything happened to it, I'd most likely buy another one.

4 string, P-bass body, ultra narrow neck at the nut. 22 frets, passive P pickup. Volume, Tone controls. I own two of these. One black w/ a white pickguard, the other white w/ a black pickguard (so cheesy, I know. Average top-loading bridge, nice big elephant ear tuners. Simple, classic, great.

As far as I've known this bass has really only given me one sound: P-bass. But it's damned good at it. Nice full tone, with healthy amounts of midrange. Not the bass to be playing slap/funk on though, unless you got some serious scooped EQ happening. Generally pretty noiseless, although it seemed to pick up the ticking of my non-digital watch, which always had me wondering where that 60 bpm beat was coming from. I've had equal success with this bass in the stage and studio, though I've used it predominantly for stage work.

I got my Fury when I was about 13 and absolutely clueless about setup. Felt good at the time, and I really haven't had to do much other than general maintenance.

These basses can take quite a bit of abuse, physically. Electronically, not so much. I recommend using a 90-degree cord for your input, and even then the jack tends to loosen off after a while. I've had to replace it several times, to the point that now I probably have to get the thing re-wired because there's no more play in the wiring inside. (Keep in mind this is after almost 8 years of performance.)
Another minor problem is with the tuners: The giant pegs tend to come loose from the stems holding them, and can rattle quite loudly. I spent weeks trying to figure it out a long time ago before I found the culprit. A bit of a high power glue such as Loctite or Crazy glue between the two took care of it no problem. (Duct tape works in a pinch.)

I've been playing on my beat-up black Fury since 1993. I loved it so much, when I saw the white one I had to scoop it up too. A good all around bass for beginnner/intermediate, and dare I say semi-pro level. I found them used for about $250 (CAN). The input jack could stand to be a little sturdier, I've been thinking about side mounting mine into the body. A solid, reliable, slightly sleeker looking P-style bass, with all the glory associated with such a tag

My bass is a korean 1996-98 something like that. It has a maple neck which is pretty thick. the bass weighs alot. The tuning keys aren't so great, mine comes out of tune easily. It's a 4 string. There aren't any special things on it, it's pretty regular.

It sounds raelly really nice.I play in a hardcore, grindcore band, and it sounds great for that. it can be very deep, and the high end is really nice too. It had a good all around sound, nothing great about it, but it is solid.

My bass looked fine when i bought it, but i got sick of the glossy black paint job, so i painted it with flat blue rust-o-lium, so that took care of the normal boring shiny black crap. Other then that, i had to readjust the neck and such when i got it, cause i didn't like the action on it. But i think it was fine, i was just messin with it.

Well you can drop it a ton of time, and it'll get dented but still work fine. But the wiring was all messed up on mine. something really nice about this bass is, it's super easy to fix. i mean i fixed mine with tin foil and scotch tape once. they are easy to take apart and easy to put back together, they rock it pretty hard like that. Once you get it fixed though and set, i mean it's sturdy. I whacked a whole buncha kids with mine and it's still good to go. i've dropped it tons of times. I'd have to say how easy this bass is to fix is my favorite thing about it, cause i mess mine up, alot.

I've been playing this guy for a long time, i think it's a good bass for new players. it sounds good, it's tough, it's easy to work on. if mine was stolen first i'd get angry, then i'd go find another used one. i wouldn't suggest a new one, they aren't worth the money, but get it used thats the way to go. Buy one they are awesome.

Replaced pickup.. now have EMG active (1-9v battery). Before it sounded ok.. kinda wimpy, but now it sounds AWESOME. It stands up next to almost any bass out there as far as sound goes.. just keep the battery kinda fresh.

I've had it for well over 10 years.. loaned it to a HEAVY metal bass player and he dinged it all up.. he had it for a year. It still sounds and plays great.. solid as a rock.

Playing guitar for 20+ years.. I keep 5-7 guitars.. including Martin, Gibson, Fender. This is my only bass. It does the job. In fact, combined with my Fender Bassman 60, I could pass as a genuine bass player. I like the durability, good sound, and since it was cheap I don't have to worry about dings. Replace the pickup and you're set for the next 20 years or more. Great for all levels. If you think you're too good to play this bass.. you're either an idiot or you're Stuart Hamm.

Made Sept 28, 1989. Says so on the neck heel! Solid poplar P-bass-style body, one alnico P pickup, maple neck with maple fretboard. Beautiful deep metallic blue finish on the body with a clear gloss finish over the entire neck. W/B/W pickguard with chrome hardware. Schaller-style tuners, and a Schaller roller bridge that I installed myself. Very cool bass.

Smooth and punchy with the factory Peavey pickup, but it lacks a little low end. I have a Seymour Duncan Hot P Bass replacement pickup on the way, and that should take care of that! I use DM flatwounds so I can capture that 60's vibe. Not a noisy bass at all.

I can't say about the factory setup because I bought this bass used, but even 12 years after it was made it is still a fantastic bass. Excellent fit and finish, looks practically new. I did have to shim the front of the neck pocket about .003" because of some buzzing on the highest frets, and I didn't want to use a ton of relief to correct it. No biggie.

Peavey doesn't build 'em like this anymore! Solid as a rock, all American, and built to last. I have NO concerns about reliability with this bass. No backup NEEDED, but take one anyway if you want more than one sound.

I have needed Peavey support only once, about 8 years ago regarding a warranty claim for a ProBass 1000 preamp. It died during a performance, and Peavey fixed it quickly and without hassle.

Playing bass 16 years, but a musician for over 20 years. It's a great bass, and I would definitely want another if this one was lost. No real complaints about it, I knew what to expect when I bought it and it has surpassed my expectations. If you need a P bass but don't want to spend a ton, find one of these on ebay and you will not regret it!

USA made bass, open style tuners with the nice gigantic knobs, very thin neck, maple neck and fretboard, bolt on. Pretty much a p-bass copy made in the good old usa without the inflated fender price.

It sounds like a p-bass, duh. well a little differant, but it is pretty much a p bass. no real dislike for the sound personaly, i would have bought something else if i did not like it.

personally i like it, alot, very good feel to it, well balanced bass that is not to heavey. Like all early/mid nineties peavey copies very well made.

Like a rock, peavey makes great durable stuff.

Well here is a secret, in the early and mid ninties peavey made copies of fender products(p-bass, telecasters, strats). All of these products were made in the usa, and compared to the fender(usa) ones they were a bit better quality(but so were the japanese fernandez guitars). These peavey guitars and basses are very easey to get off of ebay at a very fair price. the fury is a great p-bass copy and are dirt cheap. a very well crafted p-bass copy made in the us, at a very low price second hand, if you find one pick it up...because they are great.

I was damn unhappy when i checked to peaveys website and found out that they dont make fury's anymore, now they make fury II's. But then, a few weeks later my friend told my that my bass is okay, so I was pretty glad although the bass is red and kinda girly ;o)

Sound is kinda warm. I dislike that I can't variate with different sounds so much(because bass has only two knobs - volume and tone), but who cares - I play in a school band. The other bad thing is that it's not easy to slap/pop with this bass. Are you a funky musician? Get another bass.
I play rock and sometimes britpop stuff, the bass suits me pretty well - it played well Metallica bass parts and Oasis's as well.

This bass had a lot of live playing at school parties, a lot of beer and a lot of crashing too, still it lasts. And the hardware to. I haven't changed pickups, but I should - their getting old.

I have been playing bass for 1 year. I love it for his long neck(so comfortable) and i hate it for its long neck to(damn hard to fit the bass into bag, but n.p. with a hard case). Its a perfect bass for an amateur(like myself), maybe even too perfect. I don't use amps, sound goes straight to mixer(in live concerts too). If i have to buy a bass now, i would choose a musicman's 4-stringed stingray.

this is a very good bass all around in my opinion this is probably the best bass ive ever played great pickups, playability the whole nine yards. this bass included a deluxe hardshell case.

this bass in my opinion has a very warm sound, and the reason i likke this tone is because i am a blues player and it delivers the full tone that i look for from bright and tight to fat and sassy, i play through a randall 100 watt head and a 4-10 cabinet with no effects at all.

whe i got the bass i found it to be set up quite to my convenience it played very well the only problem is that the saddles are a little rough and i break more strings than id like to

i thnk that this bass is gonna last a long time i have already put it to the test in some quite harsh conditions and it has held up better than i thought

this is a great bass possibly the best ive ever played so if you are thinking about purchasing a fury do it. its worth it

I'm not sure when this was made...in the good old U.S. of A. It used to have frets but I tooked them out because they made me play out of tune. Now that there are no frets I play in tune more better. The bass is electric. I got it refinished in salmon pink. Many good features.

This bass has a good sound. Very loud and good and nice. I use it with a BOSS ODB-3, BOSS MT-2, BOSS OC-2, BOSS FZ-3, BOSS CS-1, BOSS CS-2, BOSS CS-3, Tube King. I have no amp because all amps rob the good tone I get out of my Peavy setup. I use to have a Peavey guitar amp that was very loud but it's tone was no good. Then I got an Ampeg SVT and that amp made my bass sound bad to. I haven't tryed Eden yet but maybe someday. My style is a good style.

This bass was set up good. The only problem was that it was missing a tuner. When I call Peavy they told me I should have notice it before I brought the bass home with me. Then they called me a stupid uneducated bass-playing idiot. They are right. So I bought a new tuner by Hipshot that I think it much better than the ones on this Peavy Fury. There are really no major flaws with the base except its missing the frets but I made it that way so it's not there fault.

I first used Peavy when my band opened for the Pointer Sisters at the Missoula county chili-cookoff. I was the bass player in the band but I was using a guitar that I took off two strings. So I asked the Pointer Sisters bass player if I could borow his base (Alumbick or something) and he said no but he let me use this Peavy that belonged to his little sister. It was red and good. The gig was very good but I ate too much free chili and drank too much free beer and lived in the bathroom for the next eight days. After I got out I went to the store and got my very own Peavy. This is very reliable and high quality. I don't play live anymore because I don't believe in using sound reinforcement of any kind. I want people to hear the amazing acoustic tone of my Peavy. Unfortunately if there is any other sound at all, or if people are standing more than two feet away, it gets harder and harder to hear my base. I tried to have a solo concert once but the food court never invited me back. Cheap bastards.

I like Peavy. They sort of insulted me when I talked to them about the missing tuner but they didn't say anything that was untrue (except maybe a couple of things they said about my mom). I think they are a good company. Eddie Van Halen likes them.

I been playing base for a long time. Other gear I own is already listed above. I also have two picks that belonged to the bass player from Firehouse and a green Ernie Ball strap. The only thing I don't like about this bass is that I might have payed too much for it. After I bought it for over $2000 I saw these bases that have grafite necks for about the same price. Somebody also said I could buy a custom made bass for $2000. So maybe I should have asked how much it was supposed to cost before I bought it. They did give me a very nice gig bag and a book on how to play the base though. If it was stolen I would be very sad. Then I'd steal money from my parents' saving account and buy another Peavy. Or maybe one of those bases that shaped like a V because I want to start a Scorpians tribute band. peavy is good I wish I was an endorser for them. They make good bases.

I bought it in 1984, it was made in 1983. 21 frets, 1 pickup, tone and volume knobs. Cherry fretboard, Ash body (no paint; I think it was treated with tung oil) Neck has a gloss finish. Full-scale neck. Came with a plastic case that is quite ugly but amazingly protective.

This is were this Fury does it for me. This particular one has great sustain and a wonderful tight growl. There is not much flexibility with this bass. If you want a variety of sounds, get something else. Its tone hits a middle ground between a Fender P-Bass and a Rickenbacher. I have played a few Furies and their tone varies; some sound great, others sound simply bad. I got lucky. I have recorded and played live with it in small and large venues, and it has had a consistent sound throughout.

The bass was set up great from the factory, and since I bought it new and knew that it had to be broken it, I spent the money to get it tweaked each year until I learned to do it myself. The bass is solid and has good neck adjustment. The screws on the bridge (both horizontal and vertical adjustment) have gotten rust over the years and have been replaced with stainless steel bolts. The pickguard is one-piece plastic, with wood screws, and has had some warping. The ground wire from the electronics to the bridge is not soldered, so after a while, the wire sank into the wood and was not making connection with the bridge; the bass got noisy. I had to remove the bridge and rig a new ground wire, which I ran to the side of the bridge and soldered it.

This bass has been thrown by stupid, drunk people, It has been puked on, it has been left in a trunk in sub-zero weather over night, etc. etc. and it still is as good sounding, and even better playing than when I bought it. It is the only electic bass I own, and I see no need to have another at gigs. It is very easy to re-string. It has been known to hold tune longer than a Dunlop Tortex green pick keeps its shape playing it. (Dunlop Tortex are heavy picks, and I saw at the strings.)

Never had to call Peavy.

This is the third bass I have owned, I bought it after 5 years of playing and have owned it for 16 years. In the mean time, I have flirted with spending big bucks on a "real" bass, but none of them seem to really deserve it. Especially after paying only $300 for it. When I bought it, I was deciding between a Haegstrom violin-bass, a Music Man Stingray, a G&L 2000 (I think), and a Fender Tele-bass. At that point, I had decided that I was investing, and not spending money, so price was not supposed to be an issue. I got the Peavey, because the price was sooooo much better. If I had paid $800 or $1200 for it, I still would say it was a great deal.

IT was made in '94, in the U.S. It has 21 frets, unfinished maple neck, maple fretboard, nice fret job, solid top body, red finish, 1 volume and 1 tone control, 1 split style pickup, white pickguard, it is a stock pickup. Passive, the body style is a toss up between a Fender Precision and a Yamaha Attitude bass guitar. The body wood is alder, I believe. Satin finish. Candy Apple Red. Std. Fender style bridge. Solid tuners, Fender style. Neck is LONG and THIN; a very long scale feeling neck for only 21 frets. I received a soft shell case with the purchase.

I use it for recording, but have loaned to a ex bandmate for playing when his went out. I had it strobe tuned and frets filed down, and the action adj. and it plays well. He got thru the gig/practices until he got his Ibanez back. He enjoyed playing this one in the meantime. It's not noisy, a good beg/intermidiate bass. Good, average bass tones, no real variety. But not a bad thing, either. Just a decent, middle of the road bass guitar. Definetely not an antique Fender or anything, just a good ol' reliable back up or practice bass.

I had the frets filed, bridge adj. and strobe tuned 2 yrs ago, and it is still fine. I bought it used for $200 + tx. The pickups, bridge were fine; I just had the saddles adj. when the frets were filed. Before this, the action was a little off but now it's ok. NO cosmetic flaws, it's a good bass.

Yeah it will play ok live; it has because like I said, I loaned it to an ex bandmate when we played in the same outfit and got thru the show ok. He was even able to do some popping and slapping effects from the Peavey. So it's good. Everything is solid, assuming one doesn't beat the @#A$% outta it!!!! Pretty solid enough to not need a backup if one takes care of it. ( Why would one destroy an instrument as great as a guitar, bass or any stringed instrument for that matter?)

Haven't had to deal with Peavey, but according to reviews they are one of the best co.'s to deal with if something ever needs resolving. No warranty; it was a used bass.

Like it and am gonna keep it for as long as possible.
