Wow ....where do we start?...I don't know where or when this bass was made but I do know it's a pretty bad ass bass for what i payed for it
4-string 22-fret rosewood fingerboard 1 "Peavey" active humbucker its black finnish and the neck is really thin like a jazz bass 34in scale
with med-jumbo frets 4 knobs 1 vol and bass/mid/treb

Sound : 9
all i can say about this part is it sounds really versatile because i play mostly thrash metal but i think it could be played with just about any style

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
actions really fast but my damn A srtings starts "frettin out" on 8 or 9 (ill fix that)]
but im happy

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
i think I could use it live (I hope...its the only one i have because being a lefty is expencive)

Customer Support : 4
i emailed Peavey.com and all they said is no manual is avalable for this bass because its no longer made but they gave me a number to call for questions

Not sure the year it was made. Maple neck, w/ 24 frets. Didnt come with any accessories. However, doesnt make any noise in the background while active, which is a good thing. Not alot of features, but understandable for the price i paid.

Sound : 7
I play mostly rock/ metal and some slower stuff for church. Doesnt suit the rockier stuff very well in my opinion, but not too bad for slower songs. No problems as far as noise. To me, the sound is average, seems kind of empty, hard to explain

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The overall set up is pretty good, with the exception that the neck seems sort of flimsy. No major flaws as far as i could tell.

Reliability/Durability : 8
As long as your not tharshing around while playing hard music, it should stand the test of time. The finish is decent. Strap buttons are solid, overal pretty durable

Played guitar 2 years then switched to bass. Played bass about a year. If this guitar was destroyed or something like that, i highly doubt i would buy it again. It was okay for begginning to play the instrument, but not much above that. It needs more tones. For the 3 tone controls it had, i could never get any different sounds out of it.

Converted guitar player. I picked this bass up for a little nothing at a clearance sale at a music shop. They have had it stored in the back and forgot about it. Standard Fury II, it plays great and with the thin neck it's an easy conversion from guitar to bass.

Sound : 8
How does it sound--well that depends on how you play it. It has a lot of different sounds, all good! I have a varied music style so the bass fits me very well. I am currently running it through a sweet old Randall 125 bass amp--a wonderfully creamy tone. There is no noise to the bass at all the active pickup works very well. It is nice in the studio or stage. Just a good all around bass.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The setup isn't perfect but it isn't bad. The pickup is fine, the intonation needed a little work. The finish is great. It's a very nice looking bass. The tuners seem to be nice, easy to adjust and they hold well. The saddles are plain, but work. This isn't a fancy bass.

Reliability/Durability : 8
You don't want beat this bass up. With the thin neck it won't take abuse. If you treat it right it should be fine. If you use it as a stage hammer, you get what you deserve.

Been playing bass for about 3 months, guitar for decades. If it were lost or stolen I would get another bass but wouldn't particularly look for this one. It's nice but there are others out there.
I like the thin neck. As a guitar player it fits better. What I don't like, the thin neck. You can bend it out of tune if you aren't careful when playing. I bought it due to the low cost.

My Peavey Fury II was made in Korea, I don't know the year though. 20 frets, fretted. There's a single soapbar-style pickup with four control knobs. The pickup is active, with an onboard active EQ. The four knobs are for volume, treble, midrange, and bass. The pickup it'sself it nameless, so i can only assume it's peavy-made. The neck is maple with a rosewood fingerboard. The grain of the fingerboard has small gaps in it, the quality of the wood used is not that great. I don't know what the body is made of. One thing that really dissapointed me about the Peavey Fury II is it's compleate lack of info or owner's manual. There is an owner's manual that you can download from Peavey.com, but it's for the Peavey Fury, which is an early 80's style bass, and nothing at all like the Fury II. The finish is a flat black paint, which is incredibly difficult to keep clean, but that's no fault of the bass, black is just a hard color to make seem clean. One thing that did bug me about the finish is that it's easy to damage. Granted I play alot, I don't play with a pick, and my fingernails alone have createda worn area in front of the G and D strings. I suspect it's from slap/pop playing, where when playing fast, my fingernails tend to smack into the finish before my fingers get under the string for the next attack. The body style is unique to Peavey, I don't think you can call it a Jazz or P bass style body. Actually, I think that the body shape is one of the few redeeming features. The tuners are no name, so I can only assume they are peavey's house-brand. They work really well, but there are plastic washers on the shaft of them between the part that you grab onto and twist, and the part where the go into the gears... They act as a friction reducer, but the top two strings' have lost theirs to stress cracks. I think it's just that the pressure of the knob pushing down against them was two much for the thin plastic over time, which is a feature that peavy might have concidered when making it. The bridge is a heavy duty solid chunk of metal. I would say that it's comprable to a badass II. The neck is disgustingly thin. At first sight I loved the feel of it, it was very fast, but it's not very solid. Another problem i've had is that with the lighter gauge strings that I prefer, there is an awful amount of fret-buzz unless the action is raised. The truss rod in compleatly loose, but the neck still has no curve to it. Technical playing, like tapping upp voicings, then becomes more difficult with the action rasied. The frets are medium sized, and aren't the most solid. There are small gaps underneath between the fret and the fingerboard, but that's understandable on a low end bass like this. The bass came with no accessories.

While the features on this bass are plentiful for a low end bass; ( active pickups, on board EQ, comfortable body shape, massive bridge ) they aren't very good either.

A good begginer bass (It was my begining bass!) for someone who plays either country, rock, or anything else that requires you to play only fingerstyle or with a pick. If your a dumb punk rocker, this is most most bass you can get for your money. If you are a little more technically inclined, or looking for big raw sound, look for somthing else.

Sound : 6
It doesn't much suit my musical style, being made more for rock, punk, or country or somthing. I run it through my SWR working man's 12. I use no effects. It's isn't noisy untill the battery runs down, which is a nice feature, (reminds you when to change the battery so you don't end up on a gig with a dead bass!) With the eq flat there's lots of bottom, lots of high, but no growl, which I have really taken a liking to since playing upright. You can try to compensate for this by rolling off the bottom end to let the mids stand more on their own, but it ends up being more nasal sounding that i'd prefer. It's a good bass for those who want to be dark and cold sounding.

It's a got a great slap tone, and good fingerstyle and dub bass sounds. The tapped sounds are really good too, but becuase of the problems with the action, more sophisticated stuff in the upper region of the neck is difficult. Not impossible, but defintatly a challange.

I havn't done any recording so I can't tell you the difference between the studio and playing on stage.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
The bass played like a dream when i first got it, but the strings were much heavier than I'd liked, and when I changed them, the entire bass's charechter changed. Poor quality wood I allready mentioned. I didn't see it at first in the fingerboard, becuase it had been filled in with the finish, but this has cracked over time, and the wood is starting to show it's true nature.

For a low quality low end bass, it was set up really well.

Reliability/Durability : 8
For all I've been putting this bass down, one thing I will say about it is that you can't kill it. I've only had one problem in the 5 years I've owned it, a small problem with the input jack, and the repair cost 5$. I wouldn't use it on a gig without a back-up unelss I had a spare pack of 9v batteries with me. There's been a couple times where the tone didn't start pooping out to warn me of a batter change being in order untill the night of the gig when it stopped working compleatly. The neck seems really weak though, but it's just really really thin.

Customer Support : 2
There's no owner's manual, or if there is, you have to buy that sperate from the bass. The warentee did run out before I had any problems with it, but then, it was only a one year warentee. I guess now peavey has updated it to a three year warentee, but I've had the bass for 5 years, so it doesn't apply to me anyways.

Overall Rating : 5
I've been playing for about 5 years. This bass was the second bass i've owned, the first being a no name p-bass copy I got 7th hand from a freind, which has since become my project bass... The peavey fury II is a big step up from that, and it's a solid bass, (aside from the neck, which is flimsy and thin)

I compared it against other basses in the same price range, like fender mexican jazz basses, but i was dumb and ended up getting it instead because of the body shape and active eq. I wish it has a more substantial neck, and a more solid feel to it.

I bought the FURY II by Peavey when the music store I was teaching at closed it's doors. I paid $200.00, which was their cost. It did not come with a gig bag or case. The neck is maple with a rosewood fingerboard and one active pickup, active tone controls: bass, mid, treble. As a teacher, I see lots of basses and guitars come throgh the door, mainly Fender and Yamaha, while costing hundreds more don't even come close to this Peavey in quality, not to mention the active circuitry. This Bass stays in tune well, but I do find myself wishing for a brand name tuning gears and and the bridge is somewhat lightweight, but this is being really, really picky for a $200 bass.
You must unplug your cable from this bass or it continues to draw current and taps out your battery! For the battery (9volt) I removed some of the rubber padding from the battery compartment, in order to fit an Ultralife (Lithium) battery. Lithium batteries deliver a full 9 volts constantly, unlike even the best alkalines. The color is a metallic black, with a "brushed" aluminum finish for all the hardware.
A stellar Bass guitar at this price. Most of the Fender's are more expensive, as are Yamaha's and neither of these play as well as the Peavey. This bass was set up for great playing and has a sweet thin neck. You cannot go wrong with the Furry or Milestone basses. The milestone's don't have active electronics, that's basically the only difference. This bass is also contoured ergonomically, and stays put well with a strap.

This Peavy was made in 2000 in Korea. It is good quality and red. Something you should know, this base is completely smooth not furry at all. I bought it from an ad and didn't see a picture until it arrived at my door so I didn't know it wasn't furry. Also, instead of haveing two strings, it has four. So why is it called a Fury II? I thought it would be easier to learn base if it onley had two strings in stead of four, but now I am stuck learning. Oh well it is not as hard as I thought. The bass it painted red and has one electronics that makes it louder and three that makes it sound lamer. I don't mess with the lame one's (I can play lame without it LOL) but I like haveing ability to change volume. Peavy did a good jobb with this base.

Sound : 10
I use Zoom affects with the Peavy. My style is a good style. Mostly I play primarily from a whide variety of diverse styles and types including folk, classical, punk, death metal and jazz. The base suit's my playing good because it can be loud and soft LOL. I also play in a metal band. I'd say this base pack's a lot of "punch" LOL...if you know what I mean. It izint noisy unless I want it to be, and usually I do which is why this base get's perfect ten...from a whisper to a fart LOL.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This Peavy base came in a hard case that was very good. It is made by Peavy. The set up was good but I leaned to do my own set ups so I don't need it anymore. No flaws that I could find. They did a good job on the base the pick ups and the strings were all right LOL.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This base is made good and with stands many major accidents that I have on stage (I play in a violent art musical ensemble). My costume is made of a lot of iron component's and the base gets dinged in the paint but it still plays and sounds great! I had a problem with the strap button so I just taiped it to the base with some duct tape and it stays on there real good now. Never ajusted the neck...don't know how LOL!

Customer Support : 10
Hi Peavy you are good!

Overall Rating : 10
I've plaid for over three weeks now. I have a Crait amp that is very loud and good and sounds like a base should. Before I bought it I wish I had asked if it really is furry--I still can't figure out the name. It also has four strings instead of two so I don't get it. If somebody stoled this base I would get real mad. Besides this base and my Crait BX-15 amplifier, I have three pick's a chord and a red strap. My brother play's drums in a band.

Peavey's International Series (Made in Korea), 2000 model purchased right after Christmas. Four string, 34" scale...other reviewers have mentioned the body/neck woods; someone on the Peavey website said the body wood, "agathis," is an Asian/Australian pine. The one pickup, however, is a USA made Peavey VFL active, with active bass, mid, treble and volume control...a lot of versatility for this price range (I paid $330+ tax; list is $420).
Body style is standard for most Peavey's these days; it's lightweight (compared to Fenders!) and balances well on a strap and sitting down. It has a gloss metallic finish; you can see some of the wood/glue lines through it, but at this price it looks nice. The hardware is all "pewter" color. I've noticed that the treble control (closest to the bridge) gets shoved down against the body when it's in the case I bought for it (SKB type) and it has rubbed the paint off in a circle around the base of the control; all the controls can be pushed flush against the body - I might replace them with some screw on ones eventually.
Tuners are the small "gotoh/schaller" type; they seem to work pretty well. The store where I purchased this had two lefties at the time; the other one was black and the action on it was way too low, which worked out great; I like the metallic finish better (hey, everyone offers lefties a choice of black "take it or leave it," so I appreciate it...thanks Peavey!).

Sound : 9
I'm a 30+ year guitar player who has been itching to try bass for several years...finally had an excuse to do it because we needed bass accompaniment in our church worship band. I also use it to play rock, bluesy/jazzy stuff and some fingerstyle solo compositions (which are making me think about a five string...).
I use the Fury II with a Peavey KB100 amp at church and through a Peavey Minx 110 for home/office/practice (which sounds great, BTW!). So my next purchase will be a "real" bass rig at some point. Sometimes I run it though a Chorus, and at night play it through my Zoom 505 w/headphones.
The one active pickup gets a variety of sounds; there's lots of control with the three eq controls...it can be very punchy and in your face, or very subdued and upright sounding...the controls add A LOT of punch in each range, so I don't really miss a second pickup, and it makes it easier to play close to the bridge or the neck for tone variety with my fingers.
I've tried about 6-8 different sets of strings on this thing since I bought it in late December: whatever came on it (roundwounds), GHS Precision Flatwounds, Ernie Ball Group II flatwounds, Fender Flatwounds, Ken Smith Rockers, D'Addario 1/2 roundwounds, and now DR Strings. I tried a bunch of flatwounds because, as a new player, I was getting too much string noise. The strings I have liked best so far have been the Ernie Balls (#1) and GHS Precision (close second) for flatwounds, and the DR Strings absolutely #1 for roundwounds...I just put those on and they do sound incredible...lots of definition and balance and they don't sound "hollow" to me like some roundwounds.
I've played the bass "live" (in church) a number of times, and through the KB100, it fills up the school auditorium we meet in; I keep up with our drummer just fine. It will never see any action in a bar probably (since I'm also the preacher!), so I don't know how it would hold up under heavy physical and substance abuse!
Again, for the price, great versatile sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
As mentioned above, the action on this one was to my liking at the store, while another lefty at the same store was buzzing all over the place...but I believe every intrument will need some set-up "off the rack." I've lowered the action until it starts buzzing around the 12-14th frets...the neck relief has been fine, no adjustment made there. Then I reintonated the strings; they weren't bad, now they're perfect! Haven't adjusted the pickup at all, it seems to be fine.
The only flaws are the above mentioned knobs rubbing against the finish (the treble knob had scarred the paint before I got it home, but it's minor, no big deal).
The quality of the fretwork and neck/nut/bridge set-up are above average in this price-range (same for Peavey's International Series Predator Plus guitars; see review there). The woods seem to be average quality; the rosewood board is above average in this price range. I have put lemon oil on it twice since buying it (during a couple of those string changes)...it seems a little dry.
For this price range it was just about perfect!

Reliability/Durability : 8
As I said above, it won't ever see live work at the Zoo Bar in Lincoln (I don't think...), but it's working fine for me in our worship band...I can get a very useable supportive bottom end tone. The hardware seems a little on the cheap side; I wish the bridge were beefier and had strings though the body (I may do that myself someday), but for the kind of use it will see with me (hey, I'm 43!), it should give years of service. The paint seems solid; won't know for a while how it will hold up to arm/finger/thumb/belt buckle wear. Iim using it on our "gigs" without a backup because it's the only one I've got!

Customer Support : 10
I've dealt with Peavey over the years and have found their support to always be the best in the business...they did great customer support before other companiew knew what it was!
On their current website they've answered all my general questions about this product (like the USA origin of the VFL pickup, for instance), and they are quick to refer you to a tech or parts dept. if needed. I believe the warranty is one year.

Overall Rating : 9
Have played guitar for 30+ years, just started playing bass when I bought this Fury...it is a great starter instrument, plus great for live use in a band. I will eventually build a Warmoth lefty bass so I can get some of the options and wood I want (like a wenge neck a la Warwick...those sound incredible!). If lost or stolen, I might replace with this same model; it would depend what's available for lefty's!
My favorite feature is the active pickup, since it only has one. That and the fact that it's not BLACK (like the Yamaha beginner lefty basses).
I compared this to Peavey's other International Series basses, the Milestone III and VI. The quality, hardware and tone on this one was superior to those (and a little higher priced, but not much). I checked out Fender MIM Jazz basses; the action on every one was terrible, and the quality was only fair to average (plus they're just too heavy for an old fart like me!). Same for the Squier Basses; I wouldn't "go there." The Yamaha lefty beginner bass sounded and played above average, but the Peavey just offered a higher quality package.
As I'm progressing in my ability, this bass just keeps delivering nice tone and playability...a great starter instrument!

Probably made in 1999 in Korea, 4 sting, 20 frets maple neck with rosewood board, agathis body. Single pickup, volume, bass, mid and treble active electronics. The finish on mine is a dark metalic burgundy color, quite nice. The hardware has a satin steel finish, and the bridge is fairly hefty and easy to adjust. The spoke wheel type truss rod adjusment was also very easy to adjust.

Sound : 10
I play blues, R&B, and just about anything else except metal. I really like the sound of this bass, I am a recent convert from the guitar, which I have played for many years, and I find I can get a huge variety of sounds from this bass. The active electronics are very effective.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The bass wasn't set up that well when I got it, so I researched the net for some info on setting up a bass, and proceeded to get it playing very comfortably. I have tried a few other basses in the stores and haven't found much that feels as good as this bass. Nothing was loose or in bad condition on the bass, and all of the hardware was easy to adjust.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I treat my stuff with kid gloves so it will probably withstand anything I do with it, however it does feel a little fragile overall. I have had it for only a couple of months and have played it almost every day, and so far so good, it survived one drop to the ground when I stupidly leaned it against a chair.

As mentioned above I have been playing only for a couple months, but have played guitar for about 15 years, and drums for about 25, and I must say that I really enjoy playing the bass and this bass just feels like it loves to be played. I also own a Fender USA Tele, Fender Custom Shop Strat, and I play the bass through a Yorkville BM200 Bass Amp (awsome by the way). I wish I had asked Guitar Works for the thumb rest that is supposed to come with this thing. If it were lost or stolen I would probably buy something else if I had the cash otherwise I would buy this again. I love the neck on this thing, it feels better than most that I have tried in the stores, and I have gotten used to the single pickup, as now other basses with more picups feel crowded to me. The color of this bass looks classy, not too loud .

One active humbucker, 1 volume, 1 tone, and 2 others for tweaking the sound. Mine came with a decent gig bag. It is a pretty orthodox shape, and the paint job was a beautiful deep blue with coated chrome hardware that looks almost pewter in color due to the covering. Really sweet looking! Maple neck, rosewood fretboard, pretty standard in that respect

Sound : 10
Awesome sound! The one humbucker it has is a real workhorse. For slapping and popping, the sound is really defined and, clear, and clean. This thing has a great active pickup!! Easily worth looking into, as the price at Dietz (my music store) is around $350, a great price for an active bass.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
When I played the store bass, the action was just a bit too high, but that's no problem, nothing an Allen wrench can't fix. The neck is smooth, thin and quick, and it is a great bass to play! It really allowed access to the higher end notes, and let your fingers dance on the fretboard with minimal effort. Nicely balanced on my leg when I was sitting down, and not too heavy, but not too light, ya know? It really feels built well. (Hey, it's a Peavey!)

Reliability/Durability : 7
I would definitly play live with this, but I treat even the crappiest bass like a little baby. I have a Fender Jazz with EMG active pickups in it, and it is probably much more durable than the Peavey, but the Fender is built like a hammer anyway. So the Peavey is still tough, but not something I would intentionally beat up on. It could still take a licking though.

I have no clue on this one. Sorry folks.

I've played for a couple years, and am really into the aggressive sounds an active pickup system can give you, so I've been checking stuff out. I've been a long time fan of Peavey, and think the world of the company, so I was really pleased on all counts with this bass. If you've been playing bass for awhile, and want to check out what active electronics can do for you without changing the pickups in your current axe, check out this one. I only wish they had thrown in another, second pickup.

1 Active humbucker, Georgeous dark blue color, small lightweight tuners, looks great, best features for price. It maybe would be nice to have another pickup, but the stock pickup is high-quality.

Sound : 10
Great tone for almost all styles. Really good slap tone and also a groovy thump for grooving. Very versitle despite it's single humbucking pickup. The active electronics add a lot. For the price, it simply can't be beat!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Quality is great. Action was set up pretty good, maybe a bit high but not much. Quality is really the best you could get at this price. Plays great. Everyone who plays it loves it- it seems like it should cost a lot more than $300. Perhaps the neck could be a bit tighter, but its fine for me.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Seems very solid. Built well. The paint job is nice and thick. I would gig without a backup. Nice big strap buttons. Doesn't need much adjustment, though truss rod is easily accesed anyway. Very solid.
