i'm very middle of the road on this subjust.
i'm lovin the string through body
i love the red quilt finish and the acoustic tone.
But as for the electronics...
Sound

i won't lie it is the first bass i got so i went on mostly looks and not sound but after three years of ownership i've learned better.
the pickups are nice if you want a late 70's ~VERY BLUNT~ punk hum. and that's not what i want but there must be someone out there.
the pickups are active and you better keep them so, take out the battery and they're useless!
I myself have dropped ALL new electronic in it and since then it's a dream in my hands!

you me the neck is a little too fat but then again i have short fingers and not everyone does.
and my pickup blender died, YES DIED after about a year. so i had just hard wired them both on full.
as i said in the sound Q&A i bought it first because of it's looks. and that it has more then enough of!
i really enjoy the feel of it once i got used to it. my being left handed playing a right handed bass did take some time but it's all good now.

A TANK!
the thing withstands my playing style (Metal/Industrial/HardCore) and and then some!
the stap buttons have made me think time and time again "you need locking ones for what now?" because i've never hads a problem with my strap comming off.
like i said the pickup blender died after a year.
the finish is not only beautiful but very thick.
in the three years i've owned it i only needed to adjusted the truss rod ONCE!
i use this bass a my main and i use NO back-up!

i've been playing for three years and it's been there every step of the way and i can't bring myself to not play it at least once a day.
i think that if it was stolen i wouldn't buy another one but instead find the person whom stole it and hang them with the E-string and take whats mine back.
there is no replacing my fury!

Havn't got a clue when it was made - apperently it hung in the shop for ages, hence I got it for #240 and not RRP #320. Made in Korea, so probably quite recent. 4-string 20-fret rosewood fingerboard and maple neck. No idea about body.
Still not entirely sure about controls - volume and 3-band eq, but I dunno about the other knob. It's either a switch between active and passive, or a flick between pickups (made by peavey)
quilted blue top. no accessories - one pain is that the top horn is slightly long, so not many cases work with it. (I recommend Hiscox liteflite)
Extremely modernised precision style. String-thru body.

Verstile. Can do rock or jazz. Not too sure about slap - the neck's a tad slender. Buy a Stingray and call yourself Flea instead. Really booms - needs turned down a bit, but run passive and revel in the growl. I play in chuch, and have been told that sometimes you don't hear the bass, you feel it. A touch indistinct, then...
But a good rich sound, particularly out a 10 or 12 inch speaker. (I use a Fender rumble 60-watt.) 15-inch would blow the walls out. Pretty good live - I'm happy.

Well set-up. High action, but I play double bass, so I like that. A rickenbacker 4001 would kill me. Good pickups. High quality generally. But controls (especially volume and bass) scratch like mad - probably an easy fix, just havn't got round to it yet.
One absolute pain - input works loose and you lose the connection. A common problem, and about #1.50 to fix. Still a pain.

Aside from input problem, this thing is built like a tank. I have heard of one falling out the back of a car and being none the worse for it. Other reviews claim that they last for centuries. goody!
No backup needed.
Oddly, when new, it ate batteries - but it's fine now. wierd

great sound.
this bass can produce a jaco sound. a growl that is like a jazz bass on steroids. it can also produce a precision sound
all these sounds i discovered can be achieved by simply boosting the bass and treble and have the mids almost at full boost. however strings play n important role in producing ones sound. i have found that using dr hi beams 40-100 to be the strings to use on this bass to produce the sounds that i mentioned

i have been playing this bass for over 3 years. and that is almost every sunday at different churches and also i have been in a few gospel groups and have never had any real problems other than at times i have to tune my bass so i may need some tuners.
i dont feel that i would need a backup at all also i should mention that the volume pot may need cleaning because when i turn the volume knob it sounds a little scratchy but can be easily fixed

customer support is good . i called them and told them about the frequent tuning situation and they sent a set of tuners for free i havent installed them yet. but i may buy a set of hipshot tuners. i play my bass through a peavey combo 300 that i bought used. it has an ev speaker in it instead of the black widow. i had the amp repaired once in 2000 because it was making a crackling sound at times. after it was repaired it has worked perfectly ever since

i have been playing for over 30 years .
the day that i bought this bass i was in the store to just buy strings, and i decided to try some basses out. and the salesman was raving about all the features that this bass has for such a affordable price. and indeed it was the best bass for the money ,compared to all the bass in the 200-600 range. if it was lost or stolen i would buy the cirrus 5

This bass was made sometime recently (2000 or after?). 4 strings, 20 frets. Two active soapbar pickups (made by peavey). There is a volume knob and a 3-way knob/switch that i think switches either between active and passive or between the pickups. Then there are three knobs for bass, mid and treble. The active electronics really give it a boost in the lower tones. The neck is definatly a jazz bass style neck. It is very narrow at the top and very playable. String-thru bridge.
Sound

I play mostly jam, jazz, blues, funk and rock. Definatly isn't funky enough sounding. The bass is boosted and the treble isnt sharp enough for good slapping and popping. The tone is muddy at times. There isn't really any buzz, the pickups are very quiet. The sound tends to be warm and dark at the same time, again muddy at times. This bass sounds much better for studio efforts than live.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The action is kind of high for me and even after getting it fixed, the bass doesn't allow for a lower action. The neck stays straight (no bows, etc.) and there were no flaws when I got it.

The bass is very reliable and durable. The only thing that has happened is one of my tuners broke, the rest of the hardware seems to be okay. The finish doesn't seem to be wearing off. The strap buttons are a little flimsy and lose as well as some of the knobs (they wiggle in their hole in the body)

This bass is good for a beginner or an experienced player who is playing studio sessions for blues or rock music. Isn't good for funk or jazz. Would rather have jazz pickups on the bass and a little more treble.
