I play a wide range of music styles, however I primarily use my fury playin on one of the worship teams at my church, and I get a lot of comments on my bass' tone and sound.
I use a custom Fender bass amp, and a multi-effect Toneworks pedal w/ a built in expression pedal at the church and a 25W Crate amp with built in distortion for all other occasions.
WHile the church setup may be a lot nicer than my other setup, the thing still sounds wonderful.

My bass has had no flaws or problems that have needed to be fixed, and no adjustments have needed to be made.
Plus, mine has a GORGEUS trans red finish.

I have been a musician for over 14 years, and I have quite a bit of expeirience with and own a large variety of instruments, and this one is the second most important to me; only second to my $2000+ tenor trombone.
My Fury is a phenominal instrument, and I wouldn't trade it for any other bass that I've played or seen. All of the other bassists that I talk to are pleasantly surprized by the quality of my Fury vi, and it sometimes gets pretty tough to get it back from them.

It's perfect for me. My first bass was a little crapy, than I bought washburn xb125B and now I have this baby. There is only one problem with EQ. There are three boosts of specfic frequencies. You can't change sound quickly using EQ because you must use volume control as well. Other problem is that when you use pickup balance control there are moments when volume drops too. Of course it's the problem only for the begining. For price I've paid it's not a problem at all.

It will witstand live playing but frets could not stand many years of slap playing;) As any other frets;]
It have active electronics but batteries last long. Therefor backup (passive) it's probably always good for bigger gigs.

I am playing three years I am interested in signal proccesing (signal theory) and that's basiclly a subject of my academic studies. I've some effects amps but the thrue sound is a meaning of all things in the chain. Fury 6QT is not a weak part even for proffesional use. For the price Ive paid it's the best you can get. Otherwise you should compare with other guitars for price;]

I play as a lead bass player with drummer and need to have a wide harmonic range and thusthe additional strings are used. However I like to play metal and rock and it works well there as well. Along with jaz and funk.
I use a GK Backline 115, t has a distortion chip, either way it's decent;y hand;es the highs and lows.
Through varuotions of where to pluck, EQ and tone settigns I can get sounds all over, I would't pigieon hole the sound.

It feels liek it will last me at least 5 years, I wish the previous owner would have been better at not lettign the steel in the bridge corrode, however not everyone is studying metallurgy like me.
I would stan d by this as this is my second peavey bass, and I find them to be very high quality.

This is a review for a Peavey Fury VI (Six string) electric bass. This bass has two Peavey VFL humbucking pickups, the same as a Peavey Cirrus bass, but it does have a different preamp. The controls are volume, pan, bass, mid, and treble EQ. The preamp is boost only, I believe, as it has no center detents, which is my only real gripe in that department. There is a seperate battery compartment which makes swapping out batteries quick and easy. The finish is a very nice transparent blue over quilted maple(?). The hardware is satin chrome, with the bridge allowing for stringing through the body.
The tuners are non-locking.
The neck has very thin string spacing - much more Jazz Bass spacing. This was a little hard for me, as my "main" bass is a P Bass, but it's manageable once you get the feel for it.

I use this bass mostly in church, where we play music that ranges from hymns to contemporary (which translates to pop rock for the ecumenically challenged). I usually use it with a Carvin 500w head through a Peavey 4x10, though sometimes I use a 70's Ampeg SVT head.
The EQ is a bit on the hissy side, especially if the highs are jacked up. This is not very noticeable live, but in the studio, I could forsee this being a problem. I have not used this bass to record, yet.
This bass is good for the bassy/mid scooped modern sound, and even after fiddling with the mids, it's difficult to get that vintage "thump". If that's what you're looking for, check into a P Bass.
Playing with the pickup pan is the best way to very your sounds. I usually leave the EQ alone with a little bass and treble boost, and either have the pickups equal or favored to the neck a bit. The bridge pickup isn't as growly as a jazz bass, but it has it's own sound.
Sometimes I think it sounds a little dark, but that's more than likely due to the amp I'm using as well as the muddiness of the room we play in. At home through a Hartke B60 practice amp, the bass sounds a lot brighter.
Overall, I'm very happy with the sound. Nice and round, and very punchy.
My only gripe with the sound is that sometime the high C string sounds a little "detached". That is to say, its timbre doesn't always add up with the other strings, so it might sound out of place at times. This was more noticeable with the stock strings (which aren't that great). Once I switched to D'Addario prisms, the problem was less pronounced.
Action, Fit, & Finish

From the factory, the action was very well setup. I lowered the string height a little at the bridge, but I like my action a lot lower than most. I bet many people would be pleased with the action as is. The bass came with no flaws as far as I could tell. The finish was gorgeous, and everything was as it should be.

I've used this bass regularly for the past six months with absolutely no problems. The pot movement is smooth and predictable, the batteries last long, and the bass has been a gem on the whole. Considering the clearance price I got it for, I do not regret buying this bass whatsoever, and would go so far as to say it's a fabulous steal, if you can find it it in the same price range, or even a little more. This bass has a dual truss rod setup, and has not needed to be adjusted at all. The strap buttons are good, but I plan on switching to Strap Locks soon, though I do that on all my basses.

I've been playing bass for about six years, and have two Fenders in addition this bass, a US fretted P and a modified Mexcian fretless Jazz bass. They all have different sounds, so I use them all for different things. If this bass were stolen, I think that I would get another to replace it, even if I couldn't find the clearance price. The only modification I would make at this point is the preamp from a Cirrus bass, though I'm happy as is.
I think this is a great bass for the money. I wouldn't have thought Peavey to make a bass that sounds as good as this one does, and is so well-constructed. Overall, a big thumbs up.

This bass was made in korea, it's got pretty damn good worksmanship for being so in expensive. Quilted top over alder body, maple neck and rosewood fingerboard with / dual truss rods. Nice nameless metal bridge with either string through bridge or through body. Decent tuners, seem to be pretty good quality. 5 bolt neck joint, upper register easily accessible, notes intonate and sound good all the way up the neck. Despite all of these positive notes however, the electronics are crap, that is where the cost saving came in. It's got garbage pail quality eq and no passive option so I can at least use my bbe preamp to un-fuq the henious sound that the active electronics make. I really like this bass however, and with some bartolini's and an aguilar obp3, this baby will sound like any of those botique basses. Also, didn't come with any instructions or what not, but pretty easy to figure out.

I play alot of funk and jazz, but also play some metal with some friends, so I've got to get different sounds depending on whats being played, with this basses current electronics, the sounds for fingerstyle funk, and slapping are really lackluster and dead, it just sounds somewhat lifeless to me, for heavy metal though, my main objective is to cut through and provide secondary timing and it works fine for that. It's usable though, don't get me wrong, but I definately am upgrading the electronics. I play it through a bbe 383 preamp, qsc poweramp, and an eden 15 w/ horn. Unplugged, this bass actually sounds pretty decent, and the low b is very usable for a 34" scale bass.

The action was nice and low, just the way I like it. It was almost in tune, and only needed minor setup on the B and E strings for intonation.
I searched this bass high and low for flaws when I recieved it, one of the neck bolts was a little loose, but other than that, the frets are level, the finish is good, and everything is nice and sturdy. Also, the dual truss rod is a bit weird, and the bass came with a short stainless rod that you insert at the base of the nick into two gear like structures to tighten or loosen the action, I've never seen it before and I wish more manufacturer's would use this instead of using a screwdriver/allenwrench/special hex driver ect. The electronics, despite sounding lifeless to me, are well installed, with shielding and paint applied well. The battery compartment however, is sealed in with a couple of screws, and if I can find a way i'm going install a flip top battery compartment thats gig accessible. Over all, the construction is great, finish is great, and the hardware is attached well.

Until I can save up the money for a dave pushic custom, (check these out btw, http://www.dpcustom.com friggin beautiful) I'm going to use this bass for all my playing, and I think it will hold up well. On my next payday, i'm going to by two xx56M bartolini pickups and an aguilar preamp for this bass, and I bet it will sound sweet. The construction, though simple, is good, it has great action, a nice fast neck. I'm surprised for this much money you can actually buy a great bass.
