2006 5 string model made in Indonesia 22 frets 34" scale, standard passive J layout. Hum canceling when volumes equal. Neck has a satin finish, the body is a beautiful glossy orange flame. Accessable truss rod adjustment (not like the pesky hidden under pickgaurd fenders). Thru body strings, but ferrules tend to pop out when replacing strings. Tuners are sealed and stable, rarely needs tuning. The neck is slim and fast, action can be as low as required (your mileage will vary).

Sound : 9
There is not a passive five string out there with more grind for the money. Used with ampeg B3, GFX 150F, Hartke 3500, through digitech RP2000 for tube emulation this beast carries the bottom end admirably, especially considering the price. The typical single coil hum on just one pickup is very slight and unnoticeable on stage and studio. Tone is heavy rock oriented, switching to just the neck and backing off the treble is effective for lighter fair. Works well with both finger and pick style - slap is difficult due to the close string spacing - but I'd rather that than have to perform aerobics to get at the right string.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Factory set up was fine. Always check neck relief and how close the saddles are to bottoming out for any guitar purchase.

Reliability/Durability : 8
This bass has done a dozen gigs as my main five string axe without complaint. It is very light - I use an ultra cheap strap and have yet to drop it. I expect the pots will require replacing in a couple of years.

Overall Rating : 9
I have thumped bass for a few decades and the quality of this bass is beyond anything I have seen considering its cost. Slightly louder pickups would be the only change I would make.

Made in 2006 Indonesia. 21 fret, rosewood board on a rock maple neck.
Has a real quilted maple top on a basswood body. Passive J style pups that hum cancel when evenly on. Vol,Vol,Tone. 34 inch scale with a string retainer bar to keep the strings tight feeling especialy the B.
Neck isn't to wide or to chunky. Tuners are standard Peavey but they do hold in tune so they work! Bridge is ok. I have seen worse. You could string it through the body or the bridge.

Sound : 10
I play worship, and rock mainly. The bass can cut it.
I use it with an SWR workingmans 15 or a Hartke Bass Attack preamp-DI box. Can sound warm, full, and bright. Much like a jazz bass. Electronics are quiet with both pups on equal. Good for stage or studio. I would gig with this without a backup.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
It was set up perfect with the crappy stock strings but that chaged when I changed the strings and was a bit of a pain to get a good setup on but I finally got it comfortable. Action is old school style slightly high but comfortable. Pups were adjusted fine. Good fretwork and neck overall.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Well Built!

Made in 2005 USA. 22 frets, 5 strings. 3 pots - 2 volume and 1 tone. Has s/s p-up config, standard Peavez J-type pickups. Passive bass, rosewood, REAL mapple top, actually very beautifull instrument. Has a 'tigress' finish, the most shown in sunburst variant. Modern body style, string-thru body system, peavey tuners, normal rosewood neck.

Sound : 9
I like the sound, suits my music style, can play with finger or pick, and both variants give out great sound even on low-price amps. I play NWOBHM type of music, and it's really my kind of bass. I use it with Ibanez SythBass SB4, and sounds great! Has rich and full sound, mainly because it's a passive bass, kuz it has that wilderness in sound. Great for stage, not for studio, and mainly the best with thin strings.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Not very well set in the factory, you need about $50 for post-setup to make your bass - an animal! No flaws.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Withstands live playing great, hardware seems like it can last for 10 years, finish is invurnerable, but you should replace your pots, kuz they seem a bit cheap. You can actually depend on it; i mean, you can tune it to normal tune, on the fatest strings you can find, leave it, and the neck won't go oval.

Features are pretty well covered--5 strings, passive Jazz-style p/ups, 2 volume and 1 tone control, basswood body w/ gorgeous quilt top, maple neck w/ rosewood fretboard, String thru body bridge nice touch. Mine is transparent blue and I find it gorgeous.

Sound : 8
Sounds excellent. Keep in mind it's passive so theres not a lot of alterations you can make. However what it does have is a good solid useable bass sound. I used to have a Warwick Corvette active 5 string that sounded amazing. The Peavey cannot do what the Warwick did but it's also $1000.00 less, so if you do the math after owning this Peavey for six months I sold the Warwick. And I don't miss it.
I found that by using my amp tone controls I can create any sound I need with the Peavey.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Factory set-up was excellent however I like my basses a particular way so I did some adjustments myself and love this bass.
I mentioned the Warwick Corvette earlier and here is where a $240.00 bass beats up on a $1200.00 bass. I play in a band and many of our performance are 4 hours plus. Playing the Warwick I would get hand cramps and have soreness the next day. I never get hand fatigue playing the Peavey the 15" radius neck is so easy to play.
The bass itself and all of the hardware look excellent. For an experiment I put some black tape over the Peavey name on the headstock and everyone including my bandmates thought this was a $1000.00 plus bass

Reliability/Durability : 10
I have had good luck with all previous Peavey products and this bass seems to be living up to my expectations. I tust it completely.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never have needed them... i see that as a good thing.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing Bass for 26 years Guitar for 24.
I would buy another one if this one was stollen I'm taht impressed.
This is the best (BANG FOR THE BUCK)out there.
All things considered this bass deserves an overall 10.

Bought this two years, not sure where or when it was made. 21 frets, basswood body, 2 J style hum cancelling pickups, string thru body. Only a 34 inch scale I believe, sadly.

Sound : 8
Sounds pretty good for the price point. I play mainly Rock/Blue/Funk and the bass seems to fit the style really well. I've been able to pretty much get any sound I really want out of it. The pickups are hum cancelling, so they can be alittle noisy when not used together, but other than that the bass is pretty silent. Other than that, it has a fairly decent J bass sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I bought this online two years ago, and it came set up just perfectly out of box. Everything was in order, Truss rod was fine and the intonation was perfect. Most likely not the common experience from getting an instrument mail order, but I'll take it :)

Reliability/Durability : 10
The bass has been rock solid the 2 years I've owned it. I had replaced the strap buttons with Dunlop Straplocks because thats what I use on everything i own, but the originals included with the bass were fine. I've played about 15 gigs with it, zero problems and having no back up bass.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never tried or dealt with them

Overall Rating : 9
Other than the 34 inch scale sometimes leaves the low B string to feel alittle floppy, I've had no complaints about this bass. Of the different basses I've tried in the under $400 catergory, this one seems about the same quality as all the others. Obviously, any custom made basses or any of the high end Fenders etc etc sound much better, but for the price, you can't go wrong with a solid 5 string j-bass.

This is a great bass! for the price i believe it to be one of the best. I believe it was made in China (sticker on back of neck) but don't hold me to that... 2 volume (1 for each P-UP) and a tone blending knob.. it's got a string thru-body design, which is great for added sustain... i always do string thru. The finish on this bass is fantastic. It's really beautiful, infact i took it to do my senior picture's! The tuner's are also another great factor. You can tune this thing and it'll stay that tuning for weeks, and this includes practice's and gigging! and even then it will probably only be about a 1/4 note off or so, unless you really bang it around... The neck on this thing is AWESOME. I simply love this neck, its so fast and sleek.

Sound : 7
This is my primary bass. At the moment, i run... Peavey Millenium BXP 5 to a Peavey TKO 115, and then in the effect loop, i run a digitech bp200 and a boss ds-1 distortion. You can get a nice range of sound's if you play with the knob's. My only problem is that my tone knob got loose and over turned, and became gritty.. i cleaned it, but a wire inside the bass is loose, and occasionally has a very annoying buzz that i need to fix. That's the only problem i've had with it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The bass was set up perfectly when i bought it new at a local store. I havent done any changes to the action or anything... I've kept it completely stock and left alone.. no need to mess with the PUP's.. Everything was great

Reliability/Durability : 8
Durability is amazing. You can thrash it around and it wont hardly hurt it. Whats great about the finish, is it makes it really hard to see any scratch's or dent's in the bass, unless they go pretty deep... I keep a back up with me, just becuase if i break a string, i can switch quickly and not take up 20 minute's of stage time restringing it... i have had a small problem with the strap button's though, but i suppose that's every guitar/bass... i would suggest strap-locks.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to use it...

Overall Rating : 9
I've played for almost 3 years now.. this was my 2nd bass (Started out with 5 string's).. I also own a westone spectrum 5 (my back up) a BC Rich Iron Bird NJ Series (made in 1982), and an off brand Regal p-bass knock off... im customizing it. I would probably replace it if i was low on cash, other wise i'd up grade to the next level (a schecter in my case)... like i said, this is my primary bass, and i love it. It's just a greay all around bass... and i play pretty much every style on it. rock, funk, jazz, metal.... and do finger style mostly.. but also slap n' pop, tapping, and occasional picking.

OK--Features are pretty well covered--5 strings, passive Jazz-style p/ups, 2 volume and 1 tone control, basswood body w/ gorgeous quilt top, maple neck w/ rosewood fretboard, sort of a P-bass type body but with longer horns for balance, string-through-body bridge, crappy Peavey tuners and, the main selling point for me, a wonderful fast neck, very easy to play. I will add that this is a REAL quilted maple top, not a photo. Not bad for $200...
I bought a transparent black with black hardware, quite sexy, but they also had transparent blue there as well.
I give it an 8.

Sound : 7
Sound is OK--I played it through an $1100 Eden amp as well as through a $150 Fender something or other (8-inch speaker practice amp) at the store and it sounded good through both. It's essentially a Jazz bass, right? Doesn't sound thin to me, but not as fat or thumpy as a P or Musicman might be. If you like the Jazz sound, you'll like this, methinks. Remember that it's a $200 bass, and that you can always put new pickups in later down the line. The low B is a bit floppy, but that's the same as most other 5 strings, especially in this price range.
I actually don't have a bass amp here--I got the bass primarily because I'm getting into some basic home recording/songwriting, and I will be plugging directly into my computer for that. I have played it through the 2nd channel of my Fender Acoustasonic Jr, and it's sounded decent. I also have a small PA system that it sounds OK with, too. For what I need, it's just fine. As I don't have a 'real' bass amp setup, I'll give it a 7. Satisfying.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Excellent. I bought it from a local shop where they setup all my guitars, and the action was nice and low, no noticeable flaws on the bass at all. In fact, when I told them I wanted it, they did a quick setup (truss rod adjustment, bridge, etc) for me while I waited, and the guy remarked that the bass had been hanging in the shop for a couple of months without being set up, and the neck hadn't moved at all. The only drawback is that there is some fret buzz, but I expect that I can take care of that with a quick adjustment. One good feature is that the truss rod access is at the bottom of the neck, where the neck joins the body, and it can be quickly adjusted without removing the neck or fumbling with an access point near the tuners. A nice touch.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Well, I just got this a couple of days ago, so no opinion right now. I plan on posting a follow up this summer, after I've had a few months to get to know it better, but due to the paucity of reviews here, I wanted to get my 2 cents in. I will say that in talking with the various guitar techs in the shop, they liked the Millenium basses, because they saw them coming back in for service less than the other basses in the price range that they had (Squiers, Epiphones, etc). It feels well put together, and the service techs there had nothing but good things to say (even before I indicated I was interested in the bass!) while grumbling a bit about some other, more expensive instruments that they were constantly seeing on their desks. It is basswood, so some care should be taken as it dents easily, but I feel that if you are going to own a musical instrument, whether it's worth $200 or $2000, you should take care of it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I went through the local mom 'n pop that I like. They were just fine, thank you. Limited lifetime warranty, for what that's worth.

Overall Rating : 8
OK here's the deal. I've been playing guitar for 7 years, and the in-laws are giving me Cakewalk for my birthday, so that I can do some recording. I've always liked bass guitar, and have picked them up from time to time in band practices or guitar stores or the like. Now, my fiancee knows this and suprises me for my birthday by telling me that she's giving me $200 for a bass (coolest...girlfriend...ever...), so living on a budget, that really was what I had to work with. I did some homework on the net, and kept coming across this bass. The local shop had a couple 5 strings, which I wasn't too sure about, but when I played it, the neck felt wonderful to my guitarist's hands, and it wasn't too hard to get used to the low B. I played two of these, as well as a handful of other Peaveys in the store, and I have played a good number of Fenders as well, both American and Mexican made. The quality on this bass felt better than the other cheap Peaveys, and while I liked the sound of the Fenders, the necks were not as easy to get used too. The P is too thick for me to play comfortably, while the Jazz was too narrow in spots, if that makes sense. The Millenium 5 BXP feels very VERY good, sounds decent, and seems like it will last, especially as I will most likely be using it for recording, the once-in-a-while jam with friends, and the occasional trip to church when I don't feel like playing guitar for the choir that week. Are there better bass guitars out there? Sure, probably, depending on what you're looking for. But this is a quality instrument, and it looks gorgeous, which doesn't hurt. For the $$, you can't go wrong.
What other gear do I own? Carvin DC127T electric guitar, a Fender Mexi-Strat with a Seymour Duncan in it, an old Takamine Acoustic-Electric, a Fender 12-String A/E and a cheap Fender Classical guitar. I have an old Marshall Valvestate 100W amp, some effects, a Vox wah, an Acoustasonic Jr and some other stuff from when I was first learning to play. At the end of the day, I'm very happy with my selection. It's priced as a beginner bass (and I guess I'm a beginner) but I expect it to serve as my primary bass for quite some time.

This axe is a gorgeous 5 string, fretted rosewood neck with a lovely satin finish. Mine is a 2004, made at the home office in Meridian, MS. The bass features an ultra smooth quilted top, and 2 "J" type humbucker pickups.

I selected the Tigereye finish and was VERY impressed. The guys at the music store told me that they had pulled it out to "tune it for me," and were all drooling over it.

Sound : 10
I play with a church praise band and also just for my own enjoyment. For the playing I do, this guitar sounds AWESOME. I did pitch the nickel strings in favour of steel, but I love the Peavey style strings that have the ridges as opposed to smooth or flat strings.

With the steel strings, I get a bright, full, extra deep sound that make people question me again about the price!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The bass came out of the box fairly close to tuned. I agree with the other chap, the tuning machines are total crap. I'm out to replace mine too. Other than that, can't complain about the mechanics.

The finish is absolotely amazing in a guitar this cheap! Sexy as hell!

Reliability/Durability : 10
This is my one and only bass. I traded up to the 5 string from the 4 string and was a bit nervous not keeping a second "backup" axe. But this sweet little darlin' has NEVER let me down. Once I tune it, it hold a tune for an entire set. Even transporting it doesn't throw it out too bad.

Customer Support : 7
Dealt with Peavey's support, they're OK, just overworked.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for about a year now, use a Johnson 65W practice amp and play through a custom Bose house rig for sets.

If I could change one thing, it would be to make the hard case for this model a little more sturdy. It's a generic "line based" case, instead of model specific. But hey, it's a $200.00 guitar.....

2003 model bought from Musiciansfriend.com. Transluscent black over flamed maple top (don't know if it's real maple or an image), but it looks great. Single coil passive pickups wound opposite for hum-cancelling, two volumes and one tone. Rosewood fingerboard.

I bought this as a backup to my DeArmond Pilot V deluxe 5 string. I figured for $199, if it didn't fall apart when I picked it up, it would be good enough for me. I love my DeArmond and was not looking for anything to compete or replace it.

I couldn't be happier. I played a USA model and was hoping this would be close to that when I got it and it was. The playability is incredible for a bass this inexpensive (I won't call it cheap - it's too high of quality). The neck has a satin finish and the sound even unplugged is fantastic - I use that as one of the signs of quality. Good basses just sound great even unplugged while cheap ones tend to sound hollow and thuddy. This sounded great.

The sound is not as precise as my active bass, but it is quiet and having the two volume knobs gives you plenty of flexibility. It won't replace my DeArmond, but it is a MORE than worthy backup. If I were looking to buy a 1st bass for somebody, this bass would definitely be it. It would serve as a first bass very well too. I am not saying - in the least - that this bass wouldn't hold up well as somebody's "baby." I just have a bass I love already and am probably biased toward it so it would take a lot to pry it away from me.

Sound : 9
I play through a Behringer BX3000T 300 watt head and an Eden CX210 cabinet. It's got a great "springy" sound and is great for all types of playing. I play with a pick as well as with my fingers and do a little bit of slap/thump playing and this combo does a great job on all. I just can't say enough about this bass when you consider the money I spent (or lack of).

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
This is where I was totally floored. The bass looked gorgeous when I took it out of the box. It's light, but doesn't feel cheap. Its finish was relatively flawless. It's not completely perfect, but unless you're looking for flaws, you won't find any.

The finish on the neck was awesome. The satin finish is welcomed - if a bass has a glossy finish, I sand it down to get to that satin finish which makes it much easier to play, particularly when you're sweating while playing out, etc.

The action was an even BIGGER surprise. Not good, not great, but spectacular. It was absolutely perfect. When I first started playing it, I figured it had to buzz at some point because it was almost TOO low. I wouldn't want the action any lower to tell you the truth. Kudos for the setup.

The only true negative I have are the tuners. They're junk. It's hard to tune the bass as some seem to work very quickly while others take more turns to tune. They're not accurate at all. However, once you do get the bass in tune, they seem to hold it in tune, so hopefully I won't need to tune much. These will be the first thing to be replaced. If it weren't for the tuners, I'd give it a 10, but since they are easily replaced, I'll give it a 9

Reliability/Durability : 9
I've had Peavey guitars, amps and basses my whole life (Peavey Nitro Custom guitar, Vandenberg guitar, Ultra 60 Amp, TNT 115 bass amp, Peavey Fury Bass, XR600C PA, SP4 Speakers) and I've NEVER been let down by a Peavey product. This thing feels so solid that I doubt it will let me down.

Customer Support : 9
Never had a problem with my products, so I can't vouch for their service, but I have heard great things about the company and their support from the people that have had to contact them.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for 15 years (Bass off and on, guitar the whole time and bass 90% of the last two years). I play in a three piece band playing power-pop and rock music. This bass sounds great and would tell people to not be afraid of the low price. This thing sounds and plays better than many $500 basses out there. I've never thought the extremely expensive ($1000 and up) basses were much better on the whole than the midpriced basses, so other than active pickups and low grade tuners (they will be the first thing to be replaced), Peavey did a great job. The important things to me are build quality, neck and action. The pickups, tuners, and bridge can be replaced. The bridge seems great, but the Tuners are horrible and the pickups are average.
