Wow I bought this bass back when I was useing a Peavey Mark 8 bass head with 2 10-18 cabs, it was a monster, then I updated to an Eaden WT-300 and a SWR Henery 8 CAB. What I like best out of the sound of this bass is that it has endless ranges, the wood is high quality and it has deep rich tones that seem to get better every year! I use it live, the EQ has a bit of a humm for the studio.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
This bass rock the day I bought it, no problems at all

Reliability/Durability : 10
My Sarzo was road teasted on a 2 year road trip and passed. I replaced the strap buttons. The neck has been adjusted only three times in 12 years!!!!!!!!! I have never ussed my back up due to the bass its self, only strings!

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never used it

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for a long time! 18 years. I own a lot of other gear. I would kill the person who would steal this bass. I dont think you can find too many around anymore. If you come across one, grab it! you will love playing this bass

Neck thru body, active/passive electronics, red stain on the sides clear where the neck is. Fast fast fast neck feels great.

Sound : 7
Sounds good. Pretty versatile. I've heard better, heard worse

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Here is where this bass has little compatition the action and playability of this bass will rival anything on the market, no matter what the cost. I purchased this used so it has some caracter marks but otherwise its perfect. The finish is very tough.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
This bass could withstand armagedon. It will out live the roaces. Built to last.

Never had to go to peavey for anything.

If this bass sounded as good as it plays it would be the holy grail. Maybe i've found it and all I need is some new pick ups and electronics (enough thinking out loud). If this bass were stolen or distroyed I would have to hunt down like the dogs they are, because these basses are hard to find. If I could find another one I'd buy it now. Great bass if you find one don't buy it cause its mine. Just kidding pick it up you wont be dissapointed. I've been playing 14 years and its rare to find an instrament like this that almost plays itself. Thank you Peavey and Rudy

Neck Thru Body 24 frets bass, dark brown translucent finish (sides and headstock), 4 string. Active, 3 band EQ, Voume, Pickup pan, switch for the passive mode (how useful !!!). Pickups are 2 Peavey Soapbars. Ebony fretboard with "Eye" mother of pearl inlays. Very beautiful. Tuners and bridge from Schaller, all the hardware is gold plated. Construction and finish is nearly perfect, only glue can be spotted on the fretholes when viewing from the side.

Sound : 9
The sound is incredible. I own or have owned Fenders, MusicMan, Warwicks and soundwise, this bass is my favorite. Totally unexpected versatility when I bought it. You can do it all, from funky slapping to heavy rock through blues and anything you like really. The three band EQ delivers only very usable sounds in my opinion. THough, the preamp may be a little noisier than on other brands. No big deal though. A must try, if you are lucky to find one.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Finish is beautiful, though (I bought it used, and that you surely can see) there are so many dents that the polyurethane finish isn't glossy any more. I have to bring it to a luthier to have it refinished, this bass is worth it. As I bought it used, I cannnot say if the worn out finish is due to lack of quality of the coating, or to years of abuse, but I would definitly think for the latter. Another problem I encounter is with the Schaller bridge, one height adjusting screw is totally blocked. But I could swear the person having owned it was not very cautious, and therefore keep thinking this bass is worth a 9

Reliability/Durability : 9
I has withstand live playing, or the previous owner was a crazy phenomenon in the studio. The neck has remained perfect over the years, and this is surely an evident of quality. The bass is also standard equipped with standard Schaller security locks (a useful addition, believe me). Though, like all for all active basses, I would not play live without a backup (this is not due to the construction of the bass, but I always distrust the batteries)

Customer Support : 10
Peavey has a great website and is one of the rare manufacturer to archive information like user's manuals on its website. For this I give them a 10. For the rest, I never had to deal with them

Overall Rating : 10
I really like this bass, because a) it is so beautiful and b) the sound is one of the best you can get. Peavey and Rudi Sarzo have made a great job in building this bass. The one of you who would expect that this bass is only ment for Hard Rock will be surprised. This is for me one of the best collaboration I know between artist and manufacturing company. The body shape is original and the bass is very well balanced ... If you are looking for a well priced - high quality alternative to classics ... Check this one out. Remember me that I will have to ckeck for newer models in the Peavey range, see if they maintain this level of quality.

It was made in the USA, not sure of the year. It has 24 frets, 4 strings. it has a volume, pickup balance, 3 band EQ, and an active/passive selector switch. it has 2 humbuckers, one in the neck, one in the bridge. it's all active electronics/pickups. it has a neck thru flamed maple neck. it has a red finish on the body, but the neck part is left natural. i'm not sure of the body style, i'd label it as "exotic" it has a solid brass? bridge. it has non-locking sperzel tuners. ebony fingerboard i think, medium-jumbo frets, medium neck to my feel. came with a custom peavey ABS hardshell case.

Sound : 10
TOTALLY AMAZING!!! it suits my style completly. i'm using a Boss ODB-3 Bass Overdrive, Boss PH-2 Super Phaser, Dunlop GCB-100 Bass Wah, MXR Phase 90, a Technics SH-4080 Dimension Controller, and a Yorkville BM-200 Combo amp. the bass is very noisy considering it's active, but it doesn't bug me. it is full and rich, warm, and bright. it can make any sound you want it to, active or passive. i think it would be more noticeably better for the stage. one con about this bass is the nut for the truss rod, it doesn't use a hex key, it uses a standard nut where you have to use a ratchet to turn it. the space to adjust it is very small and hard to get it, but i managed. i was surprised at the tone when i plugged it in, i never new peavey's could get this good! also, even with dead strings, we're talking no sound at all dead, it still sounded bright.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
When i bought it, the action was VERY low, almost flat. but i soon fixed that after i brought it home. the pickups were adjusted perfectly. one flaw was the battery snap, the negative wire was not connected to the snap like it should be, so i'm gettting that fixed since i can't get at it myself. there was also a few nicks out of the paint but oh well.

Reliability/Durability : 10
it will withstand live playing. the hardware is 24K gold, so i think it would last a while. the finish is amazing. the finish has lasted so far. the strap buttons are solid, but i'm instally Schaller straplocks when i get the money. i can depend on it. the truss rod doesn't need adjusting too often. i would use it with a backup at a gig, maybe have another one in a different tuning but that's it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never dealt with it.

the store warranty is 30 days.

Overall Rating : 10
i've been playing for almost 3 years. other gear i own are a Squier P-Bass Special, Yorkville BM-200 amp, Boss ODB-3 and PH-2, MXR Phase 90, Technics Dimension Controller, Dunlop GCB-100 Bass Wah, and Peavey cables. the only thing i would change on this bass is the truss rod adjuster nut. i would deffinetly buy it again if it were lost/stolen. i love the tone it gives. when i put the strop on it it sits on my so comfortable, whereas my P-bass slids downwards. i chose it because it was a steal. i tried it and found the "tone" i wanted and have been looking for all this time. it's a great bass, if you find one, BUY IT! =)

American made, very well built, similar to more "botique" basses that use fine woods. It does not feel like nay other bass - unique neck and body shapes - but it feels amazing. Very easy to access any part of the neck.

The 3 band EQ/preamp is great. Normally, I wouldn't use this, but with all three EQ's set to MINIMUM, it has a rubbery wooden '69's Fender sound. With the high and low boosted, it sounds like a modern bass, but all nice.

Sound : 10
TONS of variety - it really follows the dynamics of your playing. It can be dull and thuddy or hard and glassy - a VERY versatile bass.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
REALLY good setup - but I got it used....

Reliability/Durability : 7
No problems at all...

This bass was made in the late 80's-early 90's and was made in the USA! It is a full scale 24 fret neck 4 string. The instrument is neck through body actually 10 separate pieces! The neck is maple and purple heart and the body wings are ash all with a transparent gloss finish. The nut is brass and the frets are a medium/jumbo. The freatboard is ebony with eye shaped mother of pearl inlays (2) @ the 12th and 24th fret. The electronics are active with master vol, pan between the 2 humbuckers and a 3 knob EQ. The pickups appear to be Bartolines or a darn good copy. They are soap bar humbuckers. This bass falls into the "performance body" category such as a Spector, Warwick, etc.! All hardware is 24k plated and all cast! The bridge is a solid brass Schaller and the tuners are sealed mini tuners. The bass came with a SKB style vacuum formed hard shell case that gets the job done.

Sound : 10
I either use a Yorkville 200T bass combo with (2) 10" and a horn or a full blown Ampeg SVT tube stack (4) 10", horn, (1) 15"! I mostly play rock, a little funk n' disco to get those fingers bleeding! The sound of this bass with either the solid state combo or full tube stack sounds great! I get a full spectrum of sound! This base is very versatile and could be used for most any kind of music!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Everything is almost perfect except I did notice one little factory "boo boo"! The hole on the back of the access plate for the screwdriver adjustable active/passive gain control is way off! You would still have to remove the plate to make an adjustment but once set you'll never have to mess with it again so the hole wasn't really important! The battery access has a separate compartment and is easily accessed for quickly changing the 9V battery!

Reliability/Durability : 10
This bass is built like a tank but is moderately light and comfortable to play! Every aspect of this instrument in fit/finish down to the cast parts and factory installed strap locks is of the utmost high end! You would expect to pay thousands of dollars for this instrument but even new in 1989-1994 it only retailed for $1,100.00! Even the gold plating on the hardware is 24k and not some watered down alloy suck as 10k or 14k! Very impressive at any price! I however have not owned this instrument long enough to give it a rating on reliability. I can tell from a quality standpoint and owning literally 50 or more guitars and basses over the years, this one is one of the best I've seen or played!

Customer Support : 10
Never had a problem with this instrument. Peavey does have one of the best support teams in the industry. I have delt with them in the past!

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for 10 years or so and this is my first Peavey bass! I will defiantly purchase other Peavey basses in the (hopefully near) future! I just wish they still made this model. Rudy Sarzo is certainly an artist that deserves a signature series bass! I as mentioned above own and have owned numerous basses and until recently never considered or really thought about Peavey basses. It is in my mind that they are "Peavey Electronics" and not "Peavey Bass Guitar Co."! I now know that they make some of the best instruments in the USA, or world for that matter! It was an accident I came across this one used but I am very glad that I did! It is a keeper! Thanks Hartley and Rudy for making such a cool instrument!!!
