The Specs: Korean made 2002 model, 4 strings, 24 fret maple neck w/ rosewood singer board, 2 soapbar pickups (passive, korean manufactured), gold hardware. I bought mine with a Python gig bag which is a very nice bag - lots of space & 2 extra compartments - It can even hold my Yamaha 1/2 rack effects unit.

About the only thing missing from this bass are active pickups.

Sound : 9
Good solid bass sound - ranges from funk to a good smooth warm sound. Not as versatile as some other basses, but comparible to an Ibanez or Dean. I was suprised as the quality of sound for a no name pickup. I haven't noticed any noise from these pickups.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Bass seems set up pretty well - no real noticible fret buzzing. The neck is just slightly bowed in, giving it a nice low action and the frets all seem level. The controls had just a little oxidation on them, but it is hardly noticible. There was a small (1/4" x 1/8") scratched area on the finger board, but it doesn't affect the playability of the bass. The coloration of some of the fretboard inlays was dark too. These are minor complaints, however, and didn't warrent sending the bass back.

Now for the finish - WOW, AWESOME, FANTASTIC.

I baby this thing - not because I have to, but because I love the finish so much. The hardware looks and feels very sturdy (it's all metal) and the tuners are smooth. I don't know if the gold finish will wear off over time. The strap buttons seem solid and the input jack is excellent (better than the one on my $650 ESP guitar).

Really good. I bought mine from RavenWest Guitars and asked for digital photos of my instrument before I bought it (I would recommend this since all figured maple guitars/basses are slightly different). The bass came about 1 week after I ordered it.

Freaking Fantastic Value!!!! I laugh when I go into music stores and look at what they sell for a similar value - they are not even close. If you buy this bass and don't like the sound, you can replace the pickups with a pair of EMG's and still pay less than about any other bass out there with the same finish & features. I would buy a Raven product over a Fender or Gibson any day.

Don't be worried about the fact that these are made in Korea. All of the instruments I own were made in Korea (2 guitars, 1 bass) and they are all solid instruments.

My friends can't believe I only paid $300 for this bass.

2001 Korean made model, 4 string 24 frets, Green/black quilted finish, 2 volume 2 tone selectors, 2 passive soapbar pickups, basswood body, maple neck, rosewood fretboard 34" scale, JBT-24 bridge, gold hardware, ltd lifetime warranty. There are basses with more features, but not for this price!

I play just about anything. This bass covers it all. I use it with a Hartke B30 amp. E sting buzzes a lot topards lower frets, but isn't noticable when amplified. Pickups tend to buzz when volume controls turned up. But for this price I haven't found anything better.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Low action. LIke I said before, E sting buzzes at lower frets. Pickups were properly aligned and adjusted to the proper height. All hardware securely mounted, tuners knobs had some oxidation on them, cleaned right off though. Quilted green/black finish looks AWESOME.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Very sturdy bass. NEVER comes out of tune. Seems like it is built to last. Finish is also very durable.

Customer Support : 8
Great response time to emails. Emailed responses were also very helpful. Haven't needed any repairs, so I can't comment on that.

Overall Rating : 10
This is my first bass. It is everything I had hoped for. If it was lost or stolen I would sell my organs if I had to to get the money to buy another one (only maybe I would get the 5 string). I compared this with the Dean edge 4 and a few Ibanezes, but this sounded just as good or better for less money. The decision was a no-brainer. I wish it had active pickups, but for $255 you can't have everything
