This is an early 2006 Standard 5 string. Bora Blue Burst finish (#4480 in the sold archive)
Here are the specs straight from the Sadowsky page on the specific bass I own:
#4480 | Standard 5-String
FINISH | Bora Blue Burst
BODY | Quilted Maple on Swamp Ash
FINGERBOARD | Maple, 12" Radius
PICKGUARD | None
HARDWARE | Black
PICKUPS | Sadowsky Humcancelling
WEIGHT | 8.30 lbs. (3.76 kg)
Controls: Volume, Pickup pan, Vintage Tone control knob (pull it up to bypass the active bass/treble boost, last knob is a stack, bass boost on bottom, treble boost on top.
The bridge has a cool quick release option that you can't see at first.... if you give the strings a little slack, the balls can move to the side and pop through a hole, saving TONS of time on string changes! YAY!!!!!
This bass came with warranty and certificate, an ultralight case and the tools to adjust the truss rod and bridge saddles. It even came stock with Dunlop Strap locks.
I rated features at a 10, because there aren't knobs all over this bass, but each function serves a grand purpose and this bass sings even without an amp!

NO DISLIKES WHATSOEVER....
The notes sing loudly even acoustically... You won't believe it until you hear it for yourself. The preamp is very useful and the knobs move smoothly with no fuzz or crackle in the output.
The control cavity is VERY neat and the 9 Volt battery has a special tucking spot away from the wiring!
I can literally dial in a very dark tone... it's as simple as cutting the vintage tone control knob down a bit and you can even roll the bass up a little for extra bottom.
This bass sounds amazing through my ampeg rig and in the studio!
of course, I couldn't find any dead spots anywhere on the neck!

The action was phenominal on this bass, but I like it unusually low, so I lowered it myself. The pickups were adjusted according to the old action, so I had to compensate... keep in mind, I like LOW LOW LOW action, so I dialed it in. The factory setup was impressive.
Zero flaws, not even one scratch or fingerprint on it.
I'm the second owner, and the bass was obviously loved and cared for

Although extremely lightweight, I feel confident when playing sitting or standing. The hardware is VERY heavy duty in looks and feel.
If the finish wears or gets dirty, that's just character! I love it!
I always have a backup, just in case, but this IS my new MAIN BASS!!

Roger Sadowsky and crew have been super helpful with info and questions even before I owned one of their fine instruments. They always take the time to email back when they can to answer any questions or help with a product order.
You can definitely count on Sadowsky guitars to take great care of you and your Sadowsky bass or guitar during and after your order.
They also have some great accessories and cool stuff like Tshirts in the store on their website.
Sadowsky strings are great, too! I use the steel ones 45 Medium is the gauge, I think

I've only been bassing for about four years. I run a full Ampeg stack and the occassional pedal or two.
I think it would be cool to have lit side markers on the neck, but then again... it's more fun to play without looking at the bass!

If you live in the NYC area, it wouldn't be a waste of time to stop in and see how great these basses really are.
I know for a fact that I will own this very bass for the rest of my life and I hope to own a few more Sadowsky basses, too!

This is the unbigutous MS- Metro V with the Tried/True Ash Body Maple neck/fretboard 21 fret 34"inch scale Jazz Bass along with the in-house Sadowsky pickups/2 band (boost only)preamp. The tuners are of the Schaller variety,as is the bridge which is real nice and effective quick release type. I also like the case it comes with

The sound of this bass is well focused, and it pretty well lends itself to any style or genre of music that I use it for, however it doesn't really have the upper mids of a Fender, but it still can sit very well into the mix regardless of the room or venue. The sound is very bright, but if that's your thing then is an awesome bass

The fit & finish is superb, the action and setup I changed more to my liking, and it's starting to feel pretty good

I've been playing for well over 20 years so I have other basses, however I still do love my fenders. There are ssome things I like about this bass, and there are some things that this bass doesn't do that I can live with, however if it were stolen I don't know if I would go out and buy another one. Being that I have a Sadowsky and I have a couple of Fender Jazz basses 4/5 to me there is no comparrison of the 2 because niether one sounds like each other at all, but the Sadowsky is a great bass no question about it.

the bass suits my playing style perfect, mostly funk and r&b.I use it with an ebs head and cabs and find the sound perfect for all styles, the sadowsky never gets noisy even with the pre-amp boosted, the sound is 100% full range, plenty of top and bottom with just the right natural mids.I honestly cannot find anything i dislike in this bass.

I can`t really judge the set-up as i purchased the bass online and the set-up is a personel thing. You can set a sadowsky bass anyway you want it,it is that well made.I work in instrument retail and have seen a lot of guitars and basses in my time, but i have never seen anything as flawless and well put together as sadowsky, this is their secret`NOT STERIODS' just a well put together bass with great attention to detail,AMAZING.

i`ve been playing now for nearly twenty years, and have owned and still own some great basses but nothing like as good as a SADOWSKY,i should have bought one years ago.If jazz basses are your thing think seriously about SADOWSKY,they are the best no doubt about it.
