This guitar was made in Korea, it says so on the back of the neck, away from prying eyes, apart from your own.
Has 24 frets, quite standard for a bass.
The body is laminated and shows through to the wood, which is dyed somewhat. It has two volumes and one tone, the tone knob is a push pull pot that bypasses the active module. Yes it is active, but you can switch it off. Leading nicely into the pickups, being a guitarist by trade I'm not sure what the pickup types are named. There is one jazz style pickup (found on a fender jazz bass) on the bridge position, and one P-bass style on the neck position. It stays in tune really well actually, i noticed that recently.

I love this bass, I have been playing for about three and a half years but despite this reasonably short amount of time, I can tell a nice sounding instrument from a bad one. This is quite a nice sounding guitar, if you put the selector switch in the middle, I found it quite weird that this bass had one, most just have separate volume controls and seperate ground wires so that you can have one pickup on 0 and still have output from the other, unlike an electric guitar. This bass has both, so it runs like a standard bass with the selector switch in the middle, very perculier, but it is useful.
There is some background noise when the guitar is on active, and you need to turn the volume down a little as the pickups become saturated and get a slightly distorted sound when played hard, this doesn't happen on passive though, the noise also disappears on passive, the noise is barely noticeable anyway, unless you play your bass with some form of overdrive.
The pickups sound good for slap, the neck in particular, for the other end, the pop sound, the bridge is better, so using both gets you both sounds quite seemlessly.

Th action is well adjustable, it can be set fairly high, or low aswell, I have mine low as I find it easier, my electric has a medium action, and that translates to a low action on bass, without much adjustment.
The bass it pretty flawless, the faults it has were obviously intentional to keep the price down, but the bass is extremely well built, I have not had to change any parts as they are all of substantial quality.

I bought it second hand and it seemed fine, I have taken it places and used it quite alot and it seems to be fine, I may have to change the input jack soon, as it seems on it's way out, a bit of a contradiction to what i said earlier

Fantastic, go it for 150 quid from machinehead hitchin. so not bad at all
I spend alot of time playing along to red hot chili peppers and rage against the machine, they have nice basslines, so yeh, good stuff. Nice funk sound too

24 fret 5 string with Active electronics. 2 volume and 1 tone knob that doubles as the active/passive switch. Very light wood and is easy to lug around. You get some hum when its active but nothing to really make a fuss over.

I play rockabilly/punk with it and it does great, passive or active and its a blast. Great tone from it and does real well on the funk type stuff.

Looks ok, not the best or the worst out there. Nice low action and very easy to acess all frets.

Its tough, we gig all over our area and it takes some abuse. Never had a problem even with the mileage it sees. Strap does fall off but thats nothing I cant fix. This is the only bass I use and I have no backup, tons of faith in this girl!

Its a great bass, since my friend gave it to me I really cant complain. Now its all I use and its the best one I have had, overall. Some have better sound and some look better but this one has for the most part everything you want/need in a bass. If it was stolen I would be devastated as I have nothing eles to play, but its well worth replacing.

Korean company (little known fact is they make guitars for MANY other companies!) dual pickups (front one is split style) each with its own volume knob. shared tone control. solid hardware (I recommend straplocks and won't play without them.)
don't know what kind of wood it is, but its not real heavy for a base. Finish looks good although I haven't played it very much so I don't know how it will hold up.

I use this about 3 or 4 times a year for jam sessions and play a couple times a year at church. handles praise and worship music well, and sounds good when my friend plays funk and rock on it. I'm not really a bass player.

30+ years of guitar playing does not make me a good judge of basses, however for my use this ones about perfect. I wouldn't want to pay the price for a vintage P bass when I only play a few times a year. I would recommend this for a student, a back-up or for the occasional player. I don't think a serious bassist would consider this for his primary instrument. My money was well spent.

This guitar seems to have all the same things that the Silvertone has but says Artist Series on the neck. Korean made five-string 24-fret bass. Bolt-on maple neck with rosewood fret-board. The body looks like it's made from some soft wood the grain isnt that tight. Two pasive Samick? pick-ups one is a Presision-style split coil in the neck position and the other a single coil in the bridge postion. Three potentiometers--a volume knob for each pick-up and a tone knob. The cut-aways are sweet with an extra scoop take out of the front of eack to allow maximum comfort and reach to the twenty-fourth fret.

I play through a Peavey TNT 115 and play many musical styles. I've been expermenting with funk and the dual pick-ups allow me to dial up some sweet sounds. It's no American Fender bass but it plays well.

I bought it used from a man who had taken the strings off and left it in the sun so the action was terible the strings wouldnt even vibrate without touching the frets. I loosened up the tention rod in the neck and and put some positive pressure on it and then strung it up and the action was usable. I dont know alot about setting up action but i know it didnt buzz and didnt stretch out of tune when i fretted any note up the neck.

It spent its early life string-less out in the sun and it's not the most expensive bass but it is very durable and gig's well. It has the dings and scratches to prove it. I'd take it on a gig with out a back up.

I tryed to find a Samick website and Samick.Com and Samick.Com/US are both in Korean and i cant read them. There are several dealers that have websites but i really havent delt with them.
I bough the guitar used from an Arab at a flea market so i dont have a place to take it back to.

Seems like a good bass for being in-exspensive. Its no American Fender? or Rickenbacker? but for live gigs it works well.
