This review mainly compares this bass with other cheap or bargain basses suck as sx, jay turser, epiphone, squire etc...
The pbass with jazz pickup under reg. pbass humbucker model
slightly smaller than fender pbass body, angled 2 per side tuner headstock, rosewood neck.
body is solid basswood? 2 piece maple thinnish but not too thin (oh so subjective!)neck, med. frets.
BEST features are the bridge (thick n heavey and better than my badass bridge...really!) then the neck/frets...wow! beveled frets at this price? unreal!, and the overall quality has topped anything in its price range...it really reminds me of tokai in the 80's when they were unknown, not quite as good, but very very good.
only demerit is for tuners...which are quite good in fact, but one is a bit stiff...works but stiff...but at this price, thats almost a who cares thing

me likes the motown, the notown and in between...country? a la burrito bros. or early sting or modern modest mouse etc...its all good, I just dont do the metal thing so...couldnt tell ya bout that.
very quiet, very very good basic pickups...surprising pickup quality and much better than the other brands at this price. Yea, i changed the pbass to barto's and left the jazz as is after replacing it with alnico telebass....hey, the orig. pickups are great!
Nice sound, glad its not active electronics...it always amazes me people want active! have had both, and both are good with the right pickups but overall, c'mon, the actives are too sterile!
warm sound, quiet, lots of variety! put in a new cap (the paper/oil mojotone at .047 does quite nicely) or cts pots and you have a bass rivaling those at much higher prices ...REALLY!

well, here is where it kicked all the other brands in the ass. MY 2 sx basses were ok (excellent woods and balance but horrible fretends, sharp hardware ends, big skislope tongues at base of neck...I owned 4 of these dogs...not impressed) the jay tursers were ok (stupid light bodies made balancing bass silly, and electronics pretty poor), epis...ok and pretty good overall but didnt care for fretends and overall quality...fender squire...very hit or miss and usually miss, johnsons and about 10 other brands about the same...samick stood head and shoulders above, which is funny as i have owned a greg bennet guitar and wasnt that impressed, and other samicks and they were so-so, some very nice, some dogs.
anyway, the neck joint is superb...something the bargain basses have a hard time getting right, though jackson does a good job!

everything beefier and overall more solid than what you can get for this price...esp. the jay tursers...they must make their profits shorting steel on their bridges and tuners...YUK...so cheap.
finish is excellent and i really dont care about this category as im more interested in a player than how it looks. saying this, the electric yellow i got is so hideous i love it...ugly is pretty. basic thick finish, NECK finish is excellent, i hate thick poly necks and this is a satin finish that is easy to get around on...very nice.

sorry, GOTTA give it a 10 when compared to others in the price range. Maybe i got a good one, but...ive been buying and selling basses for 25 years....and this one is almost the best I have ever had, in fact it ranks slightly below with my big 3 best evers...aria cardinal, guild pilot, carvin 4 string custom....just to let you know where im coming from. now i have none of those but just the lil samick and it is that good. as stated, went through too many cheap basses...and this one is a deal compared to them.
if you like not shredding your fingers on the frets, or having a great pickup set without having to change'em, and so forth...just get this bass or a good old peavey or ibanez sr or roadstar series...also good for the money but seems they are going up in value past their value.
love the neck. love the size of the body, love the sustain but especially love the bridge...massive for a fender copy, and yes, better than most all fenders other than the new fender badass copy bridges, hey, the bridge is important!
tuners could be better but at this price...they are OK...and work as should, im just used to the buttery schallers

I beleave this bass was made in the yeah 2002 and it was made in Indonesia. It is a fretted 22 fret, 4 string Bass with a 34" scale. It is a solid top body made from Agathis and has 2 controls, one for tone, one for volume. The Pickup configuration is a P style and the make and model of pickups are the stock ones that come with it. It has passive Controls and the neck is made from Maple and the fingerboard is also maple with a gloss clear coat on it. The finnish is a Solid color, the one i have is Cobalt Blue, but it come in other colors too, the body style is a precision and the bridge is NOT string through body which i dont like, the tuners are stock one and they work well, no drops in tuning or anything. Bolt on neck. die cast tuners, and chrome hardware.
The things that i dont like about this bass is that it doesent have active pickups, the body is made from Agathis which i dont like(i prefer the sound of maple), the pickup cavity was poorly routed and drilled so the pick guard screw wasent holding anything down, the frets also wear down on me too, i dont play that hard as i play blues and jazz, and play Punk and Rock in my spare time, otherwise it's a pretty good beginner bass as i started out on this aand i learned alot on it.

This bass is basically universal, i can play anything on it, like blues, jazz, rock, Punk, and some metal, i use a VOX T-15 bass amp with no effects. it's noisy when you turn the volume knob and when u put it at half bolume, you hear a fuzzing sound through your amp, i'd say that it has a wide variety of sounds but it's mostly a Rich sound. i have preformed with this bass in 10 concerts so i'd say it's pretty good for stage use. the only things i dont like are the fuzzing sound on the volume knob.

The bass was set-up very well ath the factory, the pickups were adjusted properly and the hight and everything was great, the bass contained 2 flaws though, the control knobs were noisy and the pickup cavity was routed poorly.

As long as you dont Smash the hell out of this bass like David Desrosieres From Simple Plan does after every concert, this bass will withstand live playing, the hardware lasts along time, just tighten everythign everytime you change the strings and you'lll be fine, the finnish is very good, i scratched the back with my belt hundreds of times and theres no mark, accidently hit the corner, no mark. very good but it does attract oil very well, so if you want a nice look, wipe the oil from your hands off thebass befor a concert. the strap buttons seem to mak your strap fall off when your swingin around, but i made some strap locks with some $0.49 washers. you can depend on it anytime, the truss rod only needs to be adjusted if you change the guage of the strings, i would use this on a gig without a backup

I have been playing for little less than a year, i own a VOX T-15 15W Bass amp, but i plan to upgrade to a new bass and new amp plus cables, i wish that i knew if there was one in a box as the store ran out and they had to give me the display with no discount:( if it were lost or stolen, i would go and buy something else because my bass playing is progressing and i need new equipment. If your a beginner, Buy this bass as it's cheap but very good quality

This bass,The Samick Corsair is part of the Greg Bennett series of re-designed samick guitar line that was released in 2002. If you have played any of the older edition samick guitars or basses, you know that they aren't worth the wood that was used to make 'em. This bass has 4 strings, 21 frets and is scaled down a lot to have a much smaller and better balanced bass neck. P-Bass style pick-ups in it which produce a fairly decent sound I must say.

I only started getting into bass recently and have been playing a lot of funk and some metal too. The bass overall covers a lot of ground and gives you a pretty good variation of sounds for different kidns of music you want to play: that's what I like about it. I played a Fairline Jazz Bass when trying to decide on which one to buy (ran them through an SRV, beautiful sound) and to my surprise, the Corsair had a much betetr sound in my opinion. It tends to lean towards a more warm sound, so if your very heavily into funk, this might not fulfill your needs. This would be my choice for a studio bass over a stage bass.

The quality and finsih of my bass (which is an offset aqua) is superb for the $290 Canadian I paid for it. Bought it off shelf and everythign was pre-adjusted. All the hardware is set-up great and I can't stress enough how much I love the look of this bass and the scaled-down neck.

This bass can take a good walloping. I've played live with it twice and each time I've been doing everything from spinning to leaping over amps to crashing into mic stands and I have yet to find a nick on the finish or any damaged hardware...my only problem is the tuners...Both times I have played live I noticed my bass went pretty awfully out of tune...not to the point of desperation or anythign but to my trained ear it was very noticeable and a let-down. I definitely would use this without a back-up because I can easily tune-up again and the dependability of the body and hardware is top-notch...but the tuners definitely lower the rating.

Guitar is my main insturment (I play a Schecter Omen-6 with a Laney Amp and a Digitech RP200) so I haven't had much time to collect a lot of bass equipment. I wish I had found out the dependability of the tuners which I am definitely replacing within the next few weeks. If this bass had gotten stolen, I would seriously consider re-buying it but not before taking another look around town at some other ones. I cannot stress how much I love the look of the body and the neck, I can't get over how comfortable and easy to play the scaled down 21-fret neck is, definitely a reccommend buy for guitar players jiving into the bass lifestyle. Haha, what do I hate? Once again the tuners coming out of tune is always a kick in the pants but I find that when I'm playing at hoem it will stay in tune forever....maybe someone is toying with it at concerts. Best feature is without a doubt the colour and feel of the neck. I have played Ibanez Basses, Fender Basses, Squier Basses, Washburn, I've played a lot and this neck appeals the most....and surprisingly I'm digging the sound about just as much as the Fender too. I would just liek to say for the awesome price, dependability and sound this bass is a great, great buy for anyone starting out or if your just looking for something to try and mangle on-stage because you can put this baby to the curb and it will stay intact!
