This bass was made in Korea in September 2001 (according to the serial number) and has the Greg Bennett signature on the headstock.
It is a 22-fret 4-string with an alder body and gorgeous figured bubinga top in a high gloss finish which looks very durable.
The body shape is a quite distinctive double-cutaway - very modern-looking.
The neck is maple with a rosewood fretboard.
There are two humbucking active pickups, with four controls - pickup blend, master volume, bass and treble boost/cut.
The 9V battery is accessible by uncrewing the control cavity cover on the back.
It has chrome die-cast non-locking tuners (unknown brand) and Samick's JBT-1 high-mass cast chrome bridge.
I bought this bass in 2008 - it had been in the stock of a distributor who retired and had never been sold, so I count myself very lucky to get a mint condition made-in-Korea model (Samicks have been made in Indonesia since 2004).

NOTE: although this model is designated Corsair, it is nothing like the current Corsair range, which are mostly P-Bass clones.

Sound : 10
I am a guitarist and play mostly blues and rock (home recording only) and needed a bass to fill in the low end (keyboards never cut it for me). This bass is superb for recording and has a sonic versatility which I really like. At the extreme low end (bridge pickup only, full bass boost and treble cut) this bass really gives a fat, warm sound, especially with a touch of distortion.
At the other extreme you can get a very punchy, bright treble which would be very good for slapping and popping if I could do it - I keep trying but get nowhere :-(
Of course all shades in between are available if you play with the settings.
As I play more I am finding the wound strings are a bit trebly for my liking so will probably replace them with flats in the near future.
As I said, this is a great bass for recording - the humbucking pickups have no noise at all which is just what you want. The active circuitry means you can plug straight into a mixer or line-in without needing a high impedance input.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
When I played this bass it had not been set up and had a slight backbow in the neck - BUT it had been in store for 7 years so what can you expect? The guy in the shop corrected that and I have set my preferred action and intonated it myself.
Having done that, it plays very nicely indeed with a nice fast action and no fret buzz.
There are no quality issues on this bass.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Seems rock solid, although I don't intend to gig with it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with them yet.

Overall Rating : 10
An excellent mid-range bass. While I was looking I tried many, many others and this one has a feel and a sound to it which belies its modest price. I would have been happy paying ??400 for this - so I feel I got a great deal.
If it were stolen I would hunt down the perpetrator and ask for it back with menaces, as I doubt I could find another. I certainly would find it difficult to replace for the price.
