This bass is made in Korea, I think. It's your typical 4 string P-bass clone. 20 frets, maple neck and rosewood fingerboard, i think the body is plywood. There's 2 pickups, passive electronics, one tone dial and volume dials. The electronics are all pretty crappy. The body's damn big, but the neck is nice and sleek and thin. It's got a nice black finish with just a little of the grain showing underneath. I got this bass used with a case, 20W amp, patch cord and picks for $400 canadian, so it was a pretty good deal. I liken it to getting a hamburger you don't really want because you get a shake and fries with it.

This bass has got a really nice sound... it's warm and deep, even on the aforementioned 20W toy amp. The G string sounds 'twangy' but i don't use it much. I tried it on my friend's combo amp, and it sounded even better... The notes all sound nice and round until you get past the 12th fret... you can get a range of sounds from the two volume knobs, but the tone knob is crap. I play a lot of punk and it's not the perfect sound for it, but it's good for blues and rock. Plus i plugged it into a distortion pedal my uncle built and got a nice crusty sound from it.

The guys who sold it to me did a good job of setting it up, but the bass has a really bad tendency to go out of tune. I usually have to make a habit of retuning every time i pick it up... although i bend the strings and slap a lot. The tone knob goes from absolutely muddy straight to anemic with a lot of noise. The pickups are all pretty noisy. One of the tuning pegs got loose and made buzzing noises until i figured out what it was... there's a lot of fret buzz so i guess it's time to check the truss rod, and the intonation is off as well. I'm not exactly inspired with confidence because the bass has stayed in a fairly constant dry environment for less than a year. What can i say? It's a good bass if you don't mind tuning and adjusting like a mad hanyman.

When i got the bass there were already a knicks and cracks, and a chunk missing from the fingerboard. Overall, the body and neck feel solid but everything else feels cheap. The bass is in a constant process of shaking itself apart. I've had to rescrew the line input four times now and the tuning pegs were all loose. The strap buttons have stayed on though. The advantage to all this is that i don't feel bad punishing this axe a little for all the headache. I don't suggest doing a gig without a backup, make sure you tune every time you walk ten feet...

I didn't even bother. I don't live near the place where i bought it so whatever needed doing i learned to do myself. The store was pretty friendly when i bought it, probably because they saw a way to unload this bass on the newbie that i was.

I've been playing bass for a little over a year now, and i was looking not to shell out a lot of dough in case i realized bass wasn't my thing. i compared it with several other basses, but of course i had no idea what a bass was supposed to feel like. I'm not sorry i bought the samick but now that i've gotten my feet wet i'm getting frustrated with it. If you're a newbie looking for a cheap axe you can probably do better... I'm gonna hold onto the samick because it's got a nice sound and it would be a good backup bass and i wouldn't feel too bad if it got ripped off on the road or something.

Rich but dark sound, gets boring after a while so i started using a zoom 506II. Slap is good but picking is difficult.

Action should be condemned, I keep changing it and it still doesn't improve, pickups aren't too bad. The nut is useless and after a month the controls started crackling.

I wouldn't use it in a gig if i didn't have to, it doesn't stand up to any hard playing at all.

I have been playing for 2yrs now, looking forward to getting rid of it within 6months and getting something more reliable. Not anywhere near as good as my mate's Yamaha 5-string or my uncles 72 precision.....

a p-bass style 20frets. P+J pickups. the stock pickups suck. bridge like those vintage types. no idea what its made of, but i can say its freakin heavy. made in india. bought this when i totally knew nothing about guitars. i recently change entire setup(wiring, sheildings, pickups) changed to dimarzio model-P.

i play prog metal, death, classical etc. a bassman amp at home, usually a roland in studio - never paid attention to the model. the sound dark to warm type. inotations damn unstable. it always seem to go out every few times of slapping. stock pickups sux. pots n wirings create incredible hum. its so much better after my modifications. tones so much fuller n sustain is incredible using the model-P.

i bet the idiot who made this axe didnt know how to use a screw driver. the screw are practically all angled such that it provides weak bonds. n they're all half screwed. sunburst finish is somewhat okay. chrome knobs.

No serial number, model number, or anything to clue in to the history of the bass except a "made in india" sticker. Has two volume knobs -- one for each pickup, and has a tone knob. It came with nothing, really, no manual or paperwork at all. I bought it on clearance from Boykin's Music in Hampton, VA.

I play this with a 100W Peavey amp. The sound seems to be more a function of the amp than the bass itself. I'd like to think my style is akin to Police-era Sting. This bass sounds much better without a pick -- with a pick, it gets a nasal Geddy Lee sound with too little low end. The neck pickup had a farty sounding buzz to it that I had to fix due to the string being too close to the pickup. Other than that, it has been great for suiting my growth as a bassist. It made me all smiles as a beginner and makes me whine about its imperfections now.

The paint job never was too pretty -- there are some greenish streaks beneath the tobacco sunburst job.

Reliable! Plays the same as it did when I bought it approximately 700 hours of playing ago!
