The lbj21 i bought two years ago was made in 1995, in Indonesia. it's a 21 fret,4-string jazz bass style bass, laminated top. As a jazz, it has two passive pickups, two volume controls for ezch pickup and a tone one.
it has a maple neck, with rossewood scale and jumbo frets. the tuners are schaller licensend. I`ve bought it with no acessories, any tools,
NOTHING !!!

Sound : 6
I play rock, jazz, blues and other regional rithms.i USE A ZOOM506 to improve the slap sound, and some users presets.it is very noise when i use the distortion sets ans the synthbass programs of ZOOM 506 are not very good. The bass has a good sound, rich and warm. I use it in a great variety of sound from jazz to pop. I use it for the stage cause it's cheap. For studio i use my Fender P.BASS and JAZZ BASS. It is a good bass, but the electronics are very bad,the controls get noisy after 3 months of use, the output jack is weak and breakes very easy.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6

The action adjusted at the factory was too high, it is almost impossible to play the instrumnet. For a beginner bass player, it is very serious, since he(she) does not know how to solve the problem.
The pickups wre not very well adjusted, and the screws don`t work very well. Fortunately, my bass has no problem with the frets(jumbo), no poor cut nut etc. The only problem is the quality of the potemtiometers used in the controls and the output jack.

Reliability/Durability : 7
I think tha it can withstand live playng, but i don know how many it will last. the finish is good but nothing special, up to noe i have no problem with it.the strap buttons are solid and well fitted. I have no problem with the neck/truss adjusts since i use the same type of strings (0.40), and take care with temperature and humidity using special cases etc. On a gig i use it as a backup, (my number one is a Peavey milestone I)

Customer Support : 1
I never use the company support, and i do not think that exists one here in Brazil.
When i have to repair it, i do it by my self. I am electronic engineer so, when its necessary, to change a pot, a pickup, a jack, adjust a neck/tuss, saddles etc. I just do them. But when the problem involves wood, i go to friend of mine that is a luthier.

I hae been playing since 1983, i also play guitar(electric and acoustic),Keyboards, piano, and cavaquinho. I own 5 basses(1 peavey,2 fender, 1 giannini 1 samick)2, keyboards(1 yamaha and 1 cassio), 2 electric guitars(fender,1 strat. 1 tele.) 1 acoustic guitar(michel)and 1 cavaquinho(malaga). If it was stolen or lost i would fell very bad, but i think i wuld buy another Samick (YB5539). I compare it with my Peavey milestone I, (which sounds fantatastic!!!)cause the pickups configurations, scale length (34``),playability. For a cheap 4-string bass it works good.
