Features : 8
5 string, massive walnut body, 2 active humbuckers, 4 controls (vol, treb, bas, mid), rosewood board, very nice headstock (with the logo "S" of samick. It is a korean model. Nice see thru finish, mine color is like dragongreen. It has a very fast neck with small frets. Also a nice transparant pickguard. Gold hardware all the way ..

It has everything a 350 euro costing active bass should have.

Sound : 8
I am actually a guitarist and bought this one for home recording and some jammin. The sound is a combination of ibanez btb and yamaha trb, but not as agressive en punchy. It has a very good sustain. When i went lookin i compared this one with OLP musicman, richwood, squier, and bogey .. the samick has more balls and is richer and darker.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Low action, was set-up suprisingly well. The jack input was a bit tight but fixed that problem. I have to change the strings and then i will add some adjustments necessary when changing strings like intonation and neck.

Reliability/Durability : 10
It is heavey axe and looks and feels solid to me. I don't gig with it alot and only play at home so it still looks very new. In time the gold hardware will fade aswell the finish etc. But hey, wich bass wouldn't.

Customer Support : 6
This is a korean model so the american/europian website of samick doesn't show the model. If you want to look at the pic you have to visit the korean website .. and i can tell you ... IT SUCKS

anyway .. never had to deal with samick

Overall Rating : 8
i play for 16 years now guitar mostly and sometimes bass .. i have to say it's a very nice bass for the money .. the strings are old so slappin sucks big time .. when the time is right i will buy a fender 5 string active

5 string fretless bassguitar, ash body, 3-ply maple 34" bolted-on neck with a kind of contrabass headstock, rosewood board.
See-trough green high gloss finish, neck clearcoated high gloss.
Two passive soapbar humbuckers, active controls are Volume, treble, bass, and pan.
Gold heavy duty bridge, gotoh style tuners.

Sound : 10
The contrabass headstock doesn`t mean contrabass tone, but the sound is like a good fretless should be, warm with the front pickup, roundish with both, and very present with the bridge pickup only.
The active controls are usefull to thicken the sound, or boost the highs, in don`t need a mid control, cause it`s present on a level that i like, this is personal, so has no real value for rating.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
I bought the bass from some guy, setup was reasonable, front pickup didn`t work, electronics were very hasty assembled.
A total rewire and solder job did the trick, it`s ok now.

The neck was never adjusted, so even when the truss rod was tightened the neck stayed the same; even with the nut completely removed, the neck didn`t bow!! that`s a sturdy neck for ya!

I let the neck with a tightened nut rest for a couple of weeks, no strings, it`s straigtened now.

Reliability/Durability : 8
It`s a very sturdy bass, and now with the rewiring and soldering i dare to play it without a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never dealt with them, so no opinion.

Overall Rating : 7
If it would be stolen i would try to get an other, but this bass is very rare to come by.
It is my first fretless, so i am gonna study on it, long time....
