I'm a four-string bass player and was looking for a five-string I will need for some feelings in my band.
Testing a couple of gears of all price categories, I was mostly disapointed because of poor B-string tonality (muddy and flappy)or high tech sterile sound. After a long trial with a very nice bass specialist in the shop he gave me this Sanberg because I wanted characteristic sound like my Fender, Music Man, esh basses...
I never thought I would bought a relic but this one has a sound that knocked me down, typical P-Bass (like a very good old one) you can have in passive mode, pushy and versatile with active modes, and the funky clic you need for your drummer and for slapping, great B-string

Very good adjusted from manufacturer, my dealer put my favorite Ken Smith strings on it and made final adjustments, this made perfect action for my playing style
Reliability/Durability

No Opinion
Seems to be as rugged as comparable instruments, too new to describe my experience

Sandberg is a small manufacturer, it's working like a custom shop, but for fair standard prices. If my dealer will not be able for any repair, they will do that. I'm pretty sure my instrument will be in good hans with them, but it seems so that I will not need them with this instrumen built like a tank

I'm aa amateur bass player since more than 30 years, playing all styles of rock, blues, soul and jazz. In these years I got quite a big number of 4-string basses which I like and play because of their different characters. My first five-string was a very nice fretless carvin, perfect for jazzy things. the Sandberg is my first fretted 5-string which I wanted to use additionally. At present I don't put it out of my hand, my band likes it and if it was stolen, I would look for another Sandberg.
