I love this bass! 24 "Jumbo" frets, made in a country somewhere, don't know where!! Having said that the build quality is excellent. Two volume controls for the two very versatile EMG-HZ pickups, with active 2-band EQ for each pickup. Active electronics; the battery life is quite good, considering many have borrowed and left it plugged in! It has a gorgeous mahogany body and a Multi-Laminate Maple & Walnut/rosewood neck/fretboard.
Unusual shape, check out the website for pictures.
I got a gig bag free, but thats because I know how to barter.

I primarily play funk, and this bass is great for slapping etc. Its active EQ makes it easy to make the sound more suitable for rock/blues etc, as I have found out. The B string can sound a bit muddy, but I think thats may have been down to the fact the battery was running low.
Action, Fit, & Finish

Action is the best of any bass I have played, even more expensive basses. This is the first 5-string I bought and after testing out more expensive four strings, the action and sound swayed me in this direction. The only problem is the finish gets scratched fairly easily and I thought it looked so good I didn't want to play it live (!) so thats a slight problem if you want to keep it perfect, but otherwise excellent. The cherry colour is very pleasing to the eye.

This bass kicks ass!! I used to own a dodgy strap and it has (horror of horrors) dropped off many times, without detuning or any damage, I'm not saying chuck it around, but it definitely can withstand it. I would and have used it gigging without backup- make sure the battery's full before doing so.

I've been playing 3 years, and use a Crate BT100 amp w/ octaver. I use a BOSS pedal for my distortion and the bass sounds great through both. If it was stolen I would mercilessly torture the person who did it and then get another.I love the fact that when you get it out, the general reaction is "ooooh"!!

Active Two Band EQ, (lows & highs) You can feel a little bump in the knob when you hit center and it goes into bypass (sounds normal) Also two volumes, one for neck one for bridge. Both pickups are EMG-HZ's (Very Nice! But we'll save that for later) Five string, 24 fret (jumbo sized frets i think, they're not huge but not too small either) It has a very interesting bridge, different from any I've seen in other brands of guitars & basses. The official web site calls it a "diamond bridge" or something like that. Basically, it works kind of like a Les Paul's stopbar only the strings aren't covered entirely. (I don't know how else to explain, look at a pic of it really closely sometime) But anyway, the bridge does it's job, but that also belongs in another section. The tuneres are pretty nice, kind of large, but most bass tuners are. Black hardware (looks really nice on the natural satin finish) Rosewood fretboard, diamond inlays (small diamonds slightly larger than the dots in the same pattern as dots) Ok, I think that's all. Oh, yeah, and it's a bolt on neck, but it's got six bolts in it - very sturdy & well put together (looks almost seemless)

Here's the great part about this bass - you can get almost any sound of it you want. With the eq you can get everything from thin/bright to muddy & heavy. I would suggest some eqing all the time though, cuz when the bass & treb are set neutral it doesn't really sound like most basses do, almost like a blend of acoustic and elecric basses. It doesn't really sound like your standard rock bass like that. But then again we also have to take into acount that the amp I've been playing it through only cost like 99 bucks, lol. (i don't have a decent bass amp, it's like a 30 watt bulldog or something - sounds good at low volumes but dies above like 6 or 7) Perfectly clean tone, sounds silent up until the point where my amp turns into a fuzzbox. If you're gonna use a distortion on it keep the treble low, however. This bass sounds great clean but needs some tweaking distorted to keep down hiss - again, also note that this is easily done and it can sound great and for distortion i was using my brothers shitty little boss guitar distortion pedal. Maybe I should run it through my Marshall Jackhammer sometime...anyway...that's about all. I definitely approve the sound. This will be further described in action fit & finish, but there is no fret buzz whatsoever. This bass can easily be set up perfectly so that the action is very low and there is still no buzz at all. Not amazing sustain, but still very good (especially for the price)

PERFECT!!!! My friend bought a Yamaha five string used for as much as this one costs new and we had to raise the low B string to an insanely high setting to keep the fret buzz within reason. It was seriously bad. This one, however, plays exactly like a four string only with five strings. Other five strings I've played have had the strings a bit closer together and alot lower action, but this one is basically exactly like a standard four string only with a fifth string added. (In other words, four stringers looking to upgrade will have a very easy time adjusting and when you have this bass you will see no need to keep your old four string) I like the way other five strings are too, it's all just a matter of preference. I feel this one is easier to play than most others however, so it's getting a very high rating.

I haven't had this beast long enough to be able to say much in this category. However, I would like to note the finish. I got it used for an amazing price ($250!!!) because some dumbass wore his wireless system so that it was scratching the back of the guitar as he jumped around for several hours at a Guitar Center show a few weeks ago. The finish was severely scratched up - but that was all. There was no chipping and everything is fine. It's like a hard shell around the wood, not so much paint. So yeah, that's one cool thing about it, the finish is very hard to wear out and will pretty much always look the same if you wipe it off every once in a while. I'll give it a nine because that's all I know in this category and can't guarantee a 10.

One of the great things i love about this bass is just how it looks. The part of the bass w/ the input jack is flattened and it has a unique body style. I really like it. If someone stole it, I'd hunt them down and take it back. Then, I would have my pet monkey rape them mercilessly for several hours. In other words, don't try it.
