Made in South Korea,I'm guessing the year is 2007,I bought it new in '07 about 5-6 months ago. 24 frets,4 Elixer strings. Its the wood-stain, brown finish. 4 controls, not sure which does what. One is a volume, I'm told its active EQ not active pickups. So, I guess the remaining three are tone. Its hard to tell which of them do what except the volume one. Pick-ups are nice. They are Schectors and alot of people have complimented on the tone they put out. I think they sound unique, good unique. I'm not sure what the body is made out of. Its solid wood and a bit heavy. I was playing alot for a while and it got to be a burden, I bought an extra strap pad which helped a little. Thats my main complaint with this bass, its heavy and hard on the shoulder. String thru bridge style. Tuners are good tuners, I tune it, play it and for the rest of the night its in tune. Neck is great for me. I have always dreamed of owning a bass that played this great. Its a thin neck with rosewood and some dot inlays. I just think it is buttery smooth, I have another bass which doesnt really fit my hands, and I dont like how this other bass plays, so the guy at the local music store really loves how this other bass plays, with a thicker neck, so I guess different people have different hands and different needs.I dont think he was pulling my leg. I got a free gig bag with the Schector from the music store.

I like the sound, I play it through an Ampeg BA 115. When I'm playing it through this amp it sounds great, I'm amazed. I'm a Phil Lesh fan and it sounds something like his tone quality. One of the knob-controls adds a super-booming bass sound. When its cranked up it distorts when the E string is played. I use it very sparingly and usually keep it on the middle notch. When I got it, I played it through headphones on a little Ibanez practice amp and I noticed overall distortion and just lowered the bridge pick up a little with a scewdriver. I really like how this bass sounds. It takes some getting used to. Its not bright and punchy. This bass doesnt get very bright, its sort of mellow and warm. It does get kind of muddy, I use the EQ on the Ampeg to even out the tone of the different strings. I'd say I wouldnt play this bass every night because it weighs so much, I like to play it though and have played at open mics and practiced with a band for a couple of months before I bailed out of the band. Never let me down.

The setup from the factory was pretty good. I got to reading bass reviews and I tried adjusting the truss rod and the string height. I think I'm gonna take it back to the shop to get it setup again. I'm just not very good at that. It was fine before, I shouldnt have messed with it. As said before, I adjusted one of the pickups. The bass didnt have any flaws, it was in perfect condition.

I've played this bass alot, at home, at parties, the open mic, just jamming with people and even other people have played it on stage. It held up to some intense playing situations in a short period of time. There are some little scratchs that it picked up from somewhere, just little ones, they are white scratches, both of them. I dont know why. The strap buttons, I dont know if they are locking or what, the strap is difficult to put on, but once its on there, its on there. They must be locking, I dont know what that is though.I have played all over the place with this bass. I havent done an actual gig with it, I would gig with it though, without a backup, all I would do is carry an extra battery. I have about 5 basses so if I need a backup, I have one in the future, hard to say if I' need it from the other reviews.

I played bass through out high school, just jamming. Now, 19 years later I picked the bass up again. I own a Peavy B-ninety, thats the one I talked about earlier before,in the shop, an Ibanez Gio, a Spector, the one with only one Emg, and Yamaha RBX170. I played the Schector in the shop and a thought about it for a while until I could afford it and bought it. If this bass were lost or stolen I would look for another bass that had the same thin neck but weighed the same as other basses. This is a heavy bass. I would probably buy another Schector that played the same but weighed less.

I believe this is a 2003 model. Korean. 24 Frets. Gloss black. Dual covered "Diamond Series" humbuckers. Active electronics. Suppossed to be 2 volume controls and 1 bass, 1 treble control. Standard bridge. I'd like to know what kind of tuners these are so I can avoid them in the future.

When I first tested this bass it felt really good, played pretty smooth but the amp I was playing through at the store was some cheap bottom dollar amp so I didn't know how it really sounded until I got it home. It sounded incredibly bad considering it was suppossed to have the active electronics and controls. It sounded like it tried to survive a flood but got stuck in the mud. I play though early 80's Peavey equipment: sometimes a 300W head with 2-10's and 1-18, sometimes a 300W combo with 1-15 and another 15 cab. This setup sounds great with my Fender P-bass Special but not with this mudbass.
Very dark sound that might sound good with distortion but that's not how I play. I finally learned to get a less dark sound by turning down the knob that (I guess) is the neck pickup volume (or tone, ask Schecter, only they would know) but there is no way in hell that this bass would ever come close to sounding "bright".

The action was fine from the start. It's a pretty comfortable bass and I sometimes prefer the smoothness of this bass's feel. After about a year I started to get the rattles. The frets have already worn down considerably and have a couple of flat spots on them. I adjusted the truss rod once and it helped a bit but I'm still very dissappointed in the rattles and dead spots. The dead spots on the bottom E string make me want to throw this bass in the garbage.

You can definitely depend on this bass. You can depend on it to be a muddy, dead piece of crap with cheap hardware. The first time that I replaced the strings one of the tuners bent and then broke. Mercy me, I guess I shouldn't have replaced those weak .40's with .45's. Although even with the broken tuner it still stays in tune, thanks in part to the 6 bolt neck. I'm just afraid that it's going to die on me one of these days since I can't contact customer support to help me get another tuner.

Hahaha. What customer support?? The shop that I bought it from went under last year. When I bought it they never gave me any manual with it. That would have been nice and helped with determining which controls were for what. Have you seen the website? What a joke. I've tried to contact them via the internet but everytime I try to send them an email I get an error through their page. Piss poor. If your going to manufacture a musical instrument, take pride in it and be very concerned with customer satisfaction because you never know what loudmouth is going to be angry with your crap and write about it.

If you replaced the tuning pegs, strings, frets, pickups, electronics and pots you might have a damn fine bass. The body is nice, that's about it. Don't buy it, don't buy Schecter. This is a warning.
I've been playing bass guitar on and off for many years. I didn't get serious and devote my time to it until about 5 years ago. I've played bass, guitar and drums in several bands. Mostly Metal, Punk, Rock, Stoner Rock etc. but I still like to throw down some old Blues and Country now and then. I play Peavey exclusively because they are reliable, Heavy and sound great. I have a Fender P-Bass Special that pisses all over this bass and sounds absolutely superior.
Don't buy Schecter junk!

It is pretty well suited to metal depending on what you like. I have to disagree with the previous reviewer. It could be that mine was a dud or something, but this bass is extremely muddy. It has a lot of lows and low mids, but no highs. It is warm, but I have all my highs and upper mids cranked. And even then it is has a very nasal quality to it.
However, it does have a lot of character to it. The sound is not like most basses in it's price range, it has a very distinctive tone. Just too muddy to my tastes. I could not get any definition out of it.
I run it with a Kustom Groove Bass 1200, Avatar B212, Dr. Bass 2x10. Doesn't work for me, but I could see it working well for others. With good strings, the sound is tolerable.

Set-up was killer, but I think that was more the local shop than the factory. It is an extremely solid bass. It feels solid, has a good balance and can take a beating. Finish looks good and the neck is thinner but very comfortable. No fretwork was needed to get very low action.

It is an incredibly solid bass. Never had any reliability problems in the 2 years I have had it. I adjusted it once, and it has held as long as you use the same brand, guage of strings of course. Even changing seasons didn't have much affect. Touring to different states and climates, the bass remained solid.

I have several Schecters (guitars mostly, I am really a guitar player), and everytime I have needed help, they have been extremely helpful.

I have been playing bass for about 2 years. Been playing guitar for 8 years. I am a huge fan of Schecter guitars. I bought this bass since I got offered to play bass in band I couldn't refuse. I went to a local shop, played this with no amp (was in a hurry) and bought it on the spot. The action, price, and stability of this bass was excellent. However the sound was just too muddy. I thought it was my rig, which has all been upgraded. It is warm, thick, and has personality, but I just could get hardly an clarity.
With good strings, this bass gets pretty decent, but otherwise it has some trouble. Try Pedulla's, D'Addario Pro Steels, DR Black Beauties, if you are having similar trouble.
It makes a killer back-up or something like that. It is solid, heavy, reliable with a tolerable sound if necessary.
So very solid, but basswood with roswood fretboard, just too warm and too much low-mid. Not for me, but could appeal to some.

This has a vey nice alive humbucker sound. It is great for metal, which is what I play. It can easily change it's tone from bright, clear, and high, to smooth big and low. I play through a Gallien Krueger 1001rb-II and a Avatar B212. I also have a Digitech BP200 which basiccly makes my tone. It does have some noise.

I had to adjust my bridge height because I play B-C#-F#-D and it was really rattle crazy, I hightened the bridge SO HIGH. It's fixed for the most point. The neck is nice. Very sturdy 6 bolt maple neck.
