Spirit by Steinberger
Made in Korea. 24 Frets. 4 String Bass.
3 piece solid maple neck-thru construction.
2 volume, 1 tone knob.
2 Humbuckers (Passive).
Black gloss finish with Steinberger tuning/headless design.
I give this a "9" only because other basses have EQ knobs.
But this isn't a problem anyway, as I could adjust it on the amp.

Wow! This is my first bass guitar and I love the sound.
It is good for rock/funk (maybe jazz??). Has a deep, clean,
clear sound. Good rock sound with the tone turned down, or
good funk sound with the tone turned up.

Set up was needed after delivery. Lot of string buzz.
I had to raise the string height. Frets are smooth.
The only minor flaw is that I noticed that someone at
the factory used
touch up paint to cover a tiny spot around the neck.
Finish is absolutely great, but not perfect. What do
you expect for $269?!?

Everything looks extremely durable. I don't get the feeling
that any cheap parts were used (like some
of the lower end Mexican made Fenders). Knobs, tuning knobs,
bridge, just about everything feels substantial, not cheezy or
cheap.

I have to give top grades on this. I ordered guitar and
received it promptly. The initial delivery did not include
the strap and extra set of strings I ordered. I was upset
and emailed MusicYo about the problem. I got a quick
response and they sent the missing items right away.
MusicYo customer support is great. At first I thought is
was disconcerting that you can't contact anyone by phone. But
email seems to work fine.

I've played 6-string guitars (Fender Strat), piano, drums.
This is my first bass (just to fool around with and maybe
work on some bass lines). It is a great bass for any
serious player out there. Much cheaper than most guitars you
buy and Sam Ash or Guitar Center, with equal to better
quality and sound. I definitely recommend Steinberger. It
is not for everyone, if you don't like the small body or
the headless design. It has an untraditional look, but I
think it is cool.

A curret 2 octive 4 string wooden stieny! The controls are setup like a jazz bass two volume one tone, very soild, two kick-ass passive EMG humbucking pickups with special steinberger bridge and a neat little leg rest thing! The neck on this thing seems to be a little longer than my jazz bass, It just seems longer.

This bass has a nice sound. I took it out of it's gig bag and pluged it into my peavey bass head. Wow! This little bass has a kick ass rock growl. My band plays classic rock so this tone was it(especially when we play Rain by the Beatles, sounds just as good or maybe better than pauls hofner!). This bass's Humbuckers are great and by far the best pickups I've played on DEAD QUIET!. I find that you can get either a very funky slap sound or a great deep rock growl, as far a jazz sound or anything esle, lets just say this is a rock bass. I love the tone, for my classic rock/beatles/zepplin/stone/The Who style that I am playing this bass will hit the McCartney mellow highend trills to John Entwhisle's punchy bass solos and everything in bettwen! A big Rock 10 here guys!

The factory set up was ok but I liek my action high so I made a few adjustments. The pickups also needed to be rasied a bit, but hey not problem. This bass had not flaws, the hardware strings and finish are perfect!

This is also a very tuff little bass! It has swithstanded live performances with manyt odd looks and questions as too where the head has gone. The strap buttons are very very solid and I would use this bass without a backup!

I have been playing for about 4 years now. I played jazz and rock. I have a fender 4 string jazz bass, a alverez 5 string and this bass, and for rock tone and fast playablity this bass beats them hands down.
Its a little bass with a large rock sound. I can whip off fast trills and keep the low-end down. The thing I love about this bass is that its so punchy and playable. Its small so it gives you a more guitarish feel, with a sweet McCartney-like highend sound that I just love! (listen to Rain or paperback writer and you'll know what I mean) but if you need a lowend sound this bass gives it and more. For playing rock live this my bass of choice, but for recording I would pick up my 5-string alverez. For pychodelic highend tones to skull rattleing rock lows this bass is tops! It turns heads and shakes the walls! For the money and size for that classic rock tone you can beat this steinberger(or steiny as I call it). Its a kick-ass rock bass!
