This Bass Guitar (EB-100) was made in 1965 in Japan. If you are counting the Frets, there are 23. It's an odd number of frets because for some reason, the manufacturer added a fret next to the nut on the neck. This may have been done to shorten the distance between the nut and the first fret. The first fret actually supports the weight of the strings and the plastic nut is just a string guide.
This guitar was described above by Tony, who made a very good and accurate description.

My musical styles are many, but I needed a Bass to keep in my home studio since I like to record all instruments. The sound of this Bass is awsome for the age. The sound is both warm and bright with the tone control. I have never used this on stage, but if I had to fill in on Bass guitar for someone, yes, I would use this guitar. The sound is fine, but it has so much more. With todays effects, there is no reason you couldn't make this sound however you like.

This is where this Bass stands out above the rest. The guitar is 1/4 Scale (or somerwhere in there). I have always played 6 string guitar and only played the Bass when I was needed or when I finally decided I needed one in the studio. I have made many recording with this little guitar and no one knows the difference.
If you play six string and you grab a bass, you know the feeling of the long neck, wide frets, and the feeling of having to man-handle these big ass strings. The EB-100 is so small, so light and the frets actually match the frets on an average 6 string guitar. I can actually play typical guitar solo's on this thing, because the string action is real sweet. Slapping, bending and sliding is what this thing is great for. If you're a 6 string guitarist who hates the way most bass guitars play, then you will love this (If you can find one).
If you are a Bass guitarist, get a full scale bass. If you are a guitarist who has to play bass now and then, this is sweet.

Hehe, this bass has already withstood the test of time and it still rocks! The finish on this thing is showing it's age and I would love to refinish it. Yes, I would take it to a gig and use it without a backup.

Customer support is not an option. Company is long gone.

(Man, there are lots of questions in this thing).. Ok, I have been playing for 32 years. My gear is most all 6 string gear, Strats, Tele's, SG's. If it were stolen or lost, I would buy another short scale bass regardless of the make and model. I love the size. I hate the finish. My favorite feature is it's size and action.
If anyone has one of these laying around (EB-100), let me know if you wanna sell it.

I play guitar, but this bass sounds okay. I've never "gigged" with it, and have done nothing more than mess around with it at my home.
Sounds okay, but its not for a "real" player... or your son...
Its more for the collector.. not that its a "collector's piece" but I know there are folks who like this stuff. Mostly the guy who grew up in the 60's and probably had one of these as a kid. The emails I get show this type of interest. I'm selling it on ebay 12-22-01 under the seller ID G3plus.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
action - okay..
Fit and finish - okay... hey, it was an $80 guitar in the 60's.. equivalent to a $150 guitar now.

Reliability/Durability : 7
Its an inexpensive guitar... so dont expect much.

Company is out of business.

nice collectors piece, for those who like these kinds of guitars. Dont get it for your new player or your son/daughter. Its an adult guitar for the nostalgic person. It wont ever be worth more than $150 bucks....
