This is a 1997 Killer B,made in Nashville,USA.24 frets,6 strings.
The body on this one is made from 2 pieces of very nicely figured ash with a natural finish. It has 2 Bartolini pickups and the Bart NTMB electronics. The neck is 5-piece maple/purple heart with a ppau ferro fretboard. The body style is the same as the neck-thru models they make.It has a Tobias bridge and Tobias/Grover tuners, both finished in black. This bass has Tobias' asymetrical neck which is thinner on the treble side.Came with adjustment tools, manual and a high-quality hardshell case

I like to play progressive rock/fusion and other styles.I am using the bass with an Eden setup. The electronics are very quiet-it's the quietest active bass I've played.I love Bartolini pickups/electronics and the NTMB setup is very flexible. It has a 3-position mid frequency selector switch and a contour switch when you pull the volume knob.I've used it for recording and live and it sounds great for both.

I bought it from the original owner.I'm not sure if the setup is from the factory, but to me it plays easier than some 5-strings I've played. The finish is well done.

This is a solid bass and it easily holds up to gigging.Aside from regular maintenance it's been trouble free.

Actually, every time I've e-mailed Gibson,I've gotten a response within 24 hrs. They were also realy good about providing me with a schematic and info for an amp a few years ago.

I'd say for the price level,it's worth looking at.Obviously there are more expensive basses that are better, but it's a very solid bass and it's cool looking, too. If I had to replace it,I might go with a neck-thru Tobias or a USA MTD bass.I compared it to several mid-high end basses(all the others were 5-strings;this is the only 6-string I tried). The feel and width of the neck did it for me.
