I just want to start by saying,Travis Bean guitars are some of the nicest guitars EVER made. The Construction is amazing.the look is just awesome.
mines the standard bass model.#50 out of 1023 ever made.between 1974-1976.
KOA wood body.natural finish.nicest wood ive ever seen.
the neck is through body,OH and its just a solid slab of aluminum.awesome!! the pickups are passive.but are mounted right onto the neck.Which gives it the best tone i've EVER heard on guitar/bass.think shellac, red scare(the bassist),white octave, etc. All awesome sounding.Black gibson-like knobs.the later ones have clear knobs. Then the WAY later ones have a different type of black knob again.
Three way toggle switch .Selecting Either bridge PU,Neck PU,or both.Theres two vol knobs and two tone knobs as well.the bridge is part of the neck, mounted right onto it.Which is why these things will sustain for 5 days.
the Best construction ive EVER seen on a guitar.

I play in a progessive hardcore/mathrock/screamo band.and the sound is the best thing ive EVER heard.ive been playing since i was 15 (im now 22).I've loved how these basses sounded since i heard the first Shellac record. And ive been looking for one for about 5 yrs.i LOVE how it sounds.it growls like a demon in heat,it rings like no other,And the low end will make your teeth fall out! you can get ALOT of different tones with this bass. a high ringing sharp sound,a DUB (VERY DUB!!)sound that will make you house fall over.VERY versitle.

Well theres no truss rod on these things.so forget the stupid neck adjustments when you change string gauges or anything. You wont have to kill yourself or your wallet to set it up.I have an old rickenbacker 4001 and after owning that thing im VERY greatful i dont have to adjust truss rods. Most annoying thing EVER.Especially on ricks.Anyway,The bean plays like a dream.one of the best necks ever.you can change string gauges and never have to worry about adjusting.the action gets VERY low.some people dont like the Weight of the bass( its VERY HEAVY.)this isnt cuz of the aluminum neck-thru,but due to the koa wood.a very heavy wood. Some may not like the cold neck as well.i LOVE it.The neck is also kinda fat.but that doesnt matter to me.i have big hands.awesome feel.

well this thing is built like a friggin tank!!!!.im sure you can do the usual ammount of abuse to it,and never have a problem.Although if something does EVER go wrong, such as PU problems, etc .I dont know where you'd get the help to fix it.alot of people wont even bother trying to fix these, because theyre so unique. And since they were made 30 yrs ago.good luck.

I have a TB2000 that I bought in 1977. It's natural Koa. S/N 327. The bridge pickup was replaced with a Bartolini Hi-A humbucker. I love this bass. It's really been to hell and back with me. I've played live gigs, studio sessions, etc. At one point the top half of the body was broken off. I spliced it back together with a walnut piece and glue.

I started playing at 8. I have owned about all high end bass equipment that has existed. 5 string Fenders, Beatle bass, Rickenbacker with dot inlays, old jazz and precisions. Newer days I played alembics, rogue model, Tobias, and warwick.
I use to play through two svt's with cerwin vega 18's and svt cabs.
Now I use Trace Elliott, and ev cabs, with 4/10's in each.

made in the usa.crafted in 74-77. i think there where 1023 made. all numbered in almost order. i own #318. aluminum neck through the body. koa wood body on the sides of the aluminum. 2 pickups. 2 tone. 2 volume. 3 position toggle switch. schaller tuners. body is like a jazz bass but with a bigger upper horn. very nice looking. it has a flat neck and a brass nut. the only way for this bass to break is down the seam of the wood.

has a great sound almost a chorus effect to it. since the sound goes through the aluminum, it does that. it also will sustain forever. the pickups are the best ive ever heard i love the sound of these things.it has huge spreg caps on the pots. very metal not heavy metal sound. very bright and full.

action is very low. you can put any size strings on these things and not have to adjust the neck. actually there isnt even a truss rod to do that. it fits well into big hands and is very very very heavy. the neck is kinda thick...and cold....but i like that. the finish is a stained koa. its very elegant looking.

reliability and durability? hmm. its made of metal. you cant break it. i have never had a problem with mine.

none. dont really need it though. but dont mess with the pickups. youll never find a replacement. the tuners are schallers but they dont make that style anymore. the bridge is custom made so no replacing that either
