I purchased an all maple fretless Jazz Bass neck from USA a couple of years back and have to say that it is the best fretless neck I have ever had the pleasure to play on (and I have played on many over the years). The Radius is just right, rear contour makes movement and hand pressure easy like nothing else. It is also soooooo light and sturdy. I've owned a few Warmoth necks (even worked for them for a short while) and have to say that the USA product blows them completely out of the water with it's quality, workmanship, playability, construction, and features. The graphite reinforcement and slim contour are very welcome compared to one of those clunky, chunky, and dead sounding Warmoth boats...oops, I mean necks. I use it with a USA made Jazz bass body and it is this most beautiful pieces are pure artwork I have ever had the pleasure to handle.

Woo-hoo!!!

It is the warmest yet bright sounding necks I have ever used. For sure the best sounding fretless neck. Doesn't sound all metallic and and dead like a Warmoth neck. Lots of growl. I've added a polyurethane finish to the fingerboard to protect it from the roundwounds but it still had this amazing growl before the finish. I think the finish added much anyways it is just an amazing sounding neck. The action is like butter and plays wonderfully with little pressure on the strings. I can get nearly any tone I want with this. I can even do percussive playing and it has a nice bright snappy tone which you almost never find on a fretless neck.

Plays as well as some of the $1500 and up basses I've played on. Kills any Fender american standard deluxe. The neck width and rear contour are like nothing else. They know how a real Jazz Bass neck is supposed to feel. Not like the fat end of a baseball bat like the stormin mormans at Warmoth and not a rush job rubber band neck like modern Fenders.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Plays great and very tough. I love the graphite reinforcement. Sturdy yet nice at light. Doesn't feel like a rubber band like fender necks do.

Customer Support : 10
Tommy and the boys are the best I have ever worked with. I have been in the music reatil business and even worked at Warmoth for a while and have to say that I have never met anyone as knowledgable, down-to-earth, and stand-up as the boys at USA.

A lot of the modern "multiple choice" custom manufacturers and production line guitar companies could learn a lot from these guys. they take the time to produce what is truely a piece of art. They don't cut corners, they won't b.s. you about the quality, and no skyrocketed prices for an inferior product. Above all however they make a wonderfull product out of shear pride. Something most modern guitar makers have forgotten about and have pushed to the side to increase their wallet size. If only all could be like USA Custom...
