This is a Vester Stage Series Bass. Its a relly nice copy of a 1960s Fender Jazz. Produced during the early 90s, I guess this would make it a Korean model. My experience of Korean guitars is not too favourable but this is a nice instrument, very well put together. Only the h/stock differs visually from the real thing. It has a nice two/tone s/burst stain, tortoiseshell s/plate,chrome knobs and dot marked slim r/wood neck, all very traditional. Pick-ups are Jazz types, origin or make unknown and nice quality traditional machines

Sound : 8
I have only used the bass for home use mostly but a friend used it at a jam session recently while I played guitar and it sounded superb
to the point where he wanted to buy it. It looked authentic too. My gigging days are past but during those days I owned many a good quality bass (Fender, Rick` Gibson) and this Vester Jazz has without doubt has a very nice old Fender feel to it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I bought the Bass used from my local music shop and it was in the usual ill state that some peolple let their instruments get into, but not abused. A quick bit of love and attention brough it back to health, i.e. removal of old strings, a good clean, new strings on, quick check and spray of the pots etc, general set-up and away you go. Nice straight neck , no crackly pots or buzzy frets, great.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Without doubt this bass would go the distance. The general build quality and the hardware is good enuogh. The quality reminds me of the basses that came out of the Japanese factories around the late 70s early 80s under the names, Antotia, Kimbara or even Ibanez when they made copies (very good quality).

Customer Support : 9
The bass came with no warranty as such but the shop is very good regarding back-up. Any problem that surfaces within the first few weeks of ownership will be dealt with by the shop. The bass was relatively inexpensive und second-hand. It was also sold on a As-taken-in basis (grubby and neglected). Sound like me!!!.

Overall Rating : 9
Ihave been playing 30years, all my gigging was bass playing. If the bass was stolen I would probably find it difficult to replace it as Vesters are not produced any longer and I guess #250-#300 would replace the quality. That would probably be an early Sqier. I love the s/burst and tortioseshell configuration it gives tha bass an old authentic look.
