1999 24 FRET SPALTED MAPLE TOP W/SOAPBARS BASSLINES AND A AGULAR 18v. A beautiful & Great BASS

Sound : 10
VERY FLEXABLE WITH WELL BALANCED PUP'S

Action, Fit, & Finish : 4
ONE SHOULD EXPECT QUIRKS WITH A HANDMADE BASS. ITS WELL MADE, HOWEVER AS AN EXAMPLE THE FRETBOARD ON THE BASS DIDN'T ALLOW ENOUGH MATERIAL TO FINISH AT THE 24TH FRET. ITS ROUGHLY SANDED, NOT AS MUCH ATTENTION TO DETAIL AS MY SMITH. i WOULD RATE THIS AS A 6 OR 7 ON A MORE AFFORDABLE BASS

Reliability/Durability : 10
I DO A REGULAR CHURCH GIG ONLY BRINGING THIS BASS, SOLID

I can not overstate just how disappointed I am with Dran and the C/S at Warrior. I bought the bass used and recieved it in amazing shape the previous owner stated that he had it in for "warrior care" over the winter. Called 3 x to find out about the bass and see what Warrior care included. I was told to email them, ok no problem I have heard nothing back. I have talked to Mike Pedulla, Ken Smith, Stuart Spector, and Dan Lakin all of whom treated me well and were very prompt. I was excited about a company of believers and maybe had higher expectations because of that, sadly they were not met

Overall Rating : 9
Great bass, some attn to detail issues.

This is an update of that my previous review. I kept it for a few months but ended up selling it so that I could take my family on a nice vacation. I have regretted it ever since. These basses are, in my opinion, the best made, best sounding and BEST PLAYING basses out there. I went to a guitar show where they were there along with some vendors of Ken Smith's, Linc's, and various other brand. Absolutely, Nothing beats the playability of these basses (for me).

Sound : 10
At the show, William Eric and J.D. showed me how to adjust the blend and EQ for the best sounds. These settings were different then I would have thought would work but the basses sounded amazing; very funky and detailed with a nice full range tone.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
No bass that I have played could have better action. In fact these basses play like they were made for my hands.

Reliability/Durability : 10
They should be very durable. I have seen several on Ebay that appear to have aged well.

Customer Support : 10
I have talked to numerous employees as well as the owner and his son. Everyone has been as friendly as they can be.

Overall Rating : 10
I am rating basses that I have tried and or have previously owned so I do not currently have a Warrior. It is a matter of not having the money for a new one right now and missing a few opportunities on Ebay for a used one. I will own another one and soon. And once I do, I will not let it go. In summary, the bass plays better than everything else, sounds great, is loaded with features and, oh yeah, plays great. I can't say that about any other brand of bass that I have tried and I have played for about 20 years now.

This is a 24 fret Bolt-on 4-string Warrior bass that I picked up at a local music store. It is the first one that I have ever seen and I don't know any history on the bass. It was set up very nicely which was more of a function of the way it was built as opposed to the saddle heights and the way the trussrod was tweaked. This bass has a beautiful mahogany body with a flamed maple top. The neck is a 3-piece mahogany and purple heart design with a birds-eye maple fretboard. It has an 18-volt preamp with three band's of EQ and a switch to adjust the mid frequency. There is no passive option which is why I rate it at a 9.9 and not a 10. The pick-ups are a Bartolini MM pick-up and a single coil or thin double coil at the bridge. The 1/4 inch output is a neutrik style that won't let the plug get pulled out without pushing a release button. The frets on it are HUGE. If you like to tap, there is no easier bass for that style than this bass.

Sound : 10
This bass has some amazing tonal qualities. Perfect for jazz, funk, Latin, but maybe not as good for Rock or Country. It fits my preferences though and every drummer that has heard it loves it's sound. The sound is very open with the bridge pick-up in the mix or you can solo the MM pickup and get a very MM sound although it comes out a little cleaner. There is no noise whatsoever. Probably a great studio sound but I have only used it on the stage.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Action is incredible. 10+. The neck/fretboard is set low into the body, the pickups are set low and the bridge is set into the body. The nut seems a perfect height to complement the low action of the rest of the instrument. The bass did have some mild flaws. The purpleheart veneer between the mahogany body and maple top does not appear to be large enough and there appears to be filler at the widest parts of the body. The top is two piece and is not aligned evenly. This doesn't affect sound at all, just appearance. I give it a 9 though because everything else is so good.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I haven't had it long but I would guess that this will last a very long time. It may have already. It has dunlop internal straplocks and the knobs seem very sturdy. The finish is supposed to be oil but the wood feels unfinished and very natural(but also very hard). The bass has stayed in tune very well. Maybe not as good as the Kubicki or Steinberger that I have owned but still quite solid.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I haven't contacted the company or needed any service.

I have played for over 19 years and have owned 3 Ken Smiths, a Rick, a few Fenders, and various other brands. I didn't intend to buy this bass but I have to admit that I love it. I almost didn't buy it because it had old, dead strings on it but once I put some DR 'Hi-beams' on, it sounded awesome. I used to think that Smith's were the best basses but K. Smith et.al. are very arrogant people who while offering a very good product also seem to dislike everyone else's products. I am currently playing it through a Euphonic Audio 500 amp (which is a pretty awesome amp) and a Bag-End 15 and/or Avatar 12 inch speaker. This bass is the best that I have owned and is also the easiest playing bass that I have owned. I hope to go check out their factory someday.
