This bass has a lot of options right out of the box. You've got 2 pickups with a pan knob between them. Each is swtichable single coil/parallel/series, which then goes into a 2-band Treble/Bass preamp. You can bypass the preamp and go straight to the jack passively by pulling out the Volume knob. The amount of different, usable tones you can generate are massive. The only places I fault this bass are the lack of a midrange control, and the lack of a hardcase. It comes with a VERY nice RockBag from Warwick, but for the price I would have expected a hardcase.

I use this through a Roland D-Bass 210, with a Roland D-Bass 115x cab. Total wattage is 700. I usually run the Wick with some compression and a boost to the low mids.
Running flat, though...
This is a very traditional sounding bass, believe it or not. The maple neck seems to bring it away from the Warwick sound and towards the Fender sound, but not completely. You can still get the super growly Warwick tone out of this bass with no problems whatsoever, but you also have the ability to channel the P or J sound of Fenders. The neck pickup can get a P sound very easily by rolling off the treble and switching it to Series mode, then solo'ing it. The variations of tones beyond this are only limited by your creativity. The sounds are all clear and can get very deep and defined. It can do warm or cold, bright or dull. I have never had hum unless I have solo'd a pickup in single coil mode, and then it was managable.

This was perfect all the way around. No problems, it was 100% professional all around.

This bass is a rock, I've gigged it only twice, but given it countless hours of practice time in my home. I bought it to use without a backup and it works great.

I give this an 8 for the following reason: I ordered through a company here in the states, and I originally had ordered a $$ 5er in Emerald Green, the non-NT style. Well, shipment came from Germany and my bass wasn't on it, along with several other basses ordered through the company. The company I ordered through (www.rocketmusic.net) went well above and beyond and offered me the NT they had in stock for much less then sticker price instead of making me wait another 4 weeks for Warwick to make and send the bass I ordered, and were flexible with payment methods. Kudos to them, I am 100% satisfied with RocketMusic. Warwick on the other hand, should be a bit more fastidious when it comes to paying attention to their vendors.

Been playing 10 years, and I have owned a lot of gear, but nothing this nice before. My favorite feature of this bass is the flexibility it offers. My pet peeve is the lack of midrange control :) It's not a huge deal though, as the preamp has a slight midrange cut by default, so I can bypass it for a slight mid boost or leave it in the loop for a slight cut. One of these basses in 35" scale with a midrange control and piezo pickup would be my IDEAL bass, but I've got absolutely no complaints with the stock NT I have. It's a fantastic bass and I recommend it to all.
