Features : 9
2006 and 2008 made (I have two, one black and one red); made in Germany, 24 frets, 5 strings, includes volume with push/pull control for active preamp, pan control for pickups (passive MEC MM type), treble, bass and 2 micro switches to change pups configuration (parallel - serial humbucking and single coil).
Ash body, ovangkol fretboard with bellbrass frets, wenge bolt on neck.
As most of you must know Warwicks are well recognized for its weird shapes (the only one that looks great is the Buzzard Ltd), i read in another forum the shape of the Thumb bass like a splattered seal haha!
One of the best features of this monster is the fact it comes with an instructions booklet, allen keys, truss rod adjustement tool and straplocks all together in a vinyl cover (many bass manufacturers should take note of this) and the adjustable nut (first time i see something like this on a bass)
The only negative thing is this beauty should come in a hardshell case instead of a gigbag.

Sound : 10
Versatile is the best definition for this bass, you can get a sweet, mellow sound with the switches in central position (single coil)or a thundering roar playing it with the pups in humbucking parallel position (love how can i make shake the glasses of my apartment hitting the low B string - the best, deeper and lowest end sound i have achieved with any 5 string owned or played before - lots of sustain although the fact this bass has a bolt on neck).

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
No flaws, beautiful wood details, even better in red than in black (just a personal taste).

Reliability/Durability : 10
I got these beauties last week, but they seem to be extremely well done, everything is assemblied very well and tight, i will take care a lot of these instruments because they deserve it, i'm very pleased with the quality.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Not needed support yet (hopefully i won't need it).

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing bass since mid 90's, and i have these two basses and a nice 1976 Rickenbacker 4001 in aged white color. I run my axes through a Yamaha BBT500-110 combo + a Yamaha 110S cabinet (1*10" speaker + tweeter)
If it were lost i'd still have the black Double $$, but if the one i lose is the red i'd buy exactly the same one.
Warwick basses are quite popular here in Spain and they are used by pro and non pro musicians although their uncommon shapes, but the sound, versatility and finish compensates it.
If you want to buy a Warwick in new condition and you don't have enough money to buy a Thumb (IMHO the ugliest Warwick ever made) or a Steamer, you MUST grab one of these basses, they have the best relationship features/quality vs price in any Warwick bass and many other bass manufacturers.

my bass was made in 06, 24 frets, 5 string, i love this bass. i can change the sound to do just about anything i wnt it to.i went for the ocean blue satin finish and it looks great. the gig bag wasnt a hard case but ota than that its great.

Sound : 10
i playvalot of slap an afta getting used to the slightly closer strings it was much easier to play allowin much more speed when playing. i run it throughh a behringer BX4500H head and a peavey 115 black widow cab. the sound of the low b along with the ultrabass setting on the behringer BX4500H which drops everything an extra octave gives a great sound for metal/hardcore music.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
everything was just about perfectly set up. one problem is tht one strap lock was a little bit loose and needed to be tightened.... thats about it.

Reliability/Durability : 9
this bass is amazing live, theres nothing wrong with the hardware after 9 months of very regular use. ill mention the one strap lock again as if i hadnt noticed it, playing stood up could have resulted in it dropping which i wouldnt have been impressed with for ??900 ! i always use it with the backup setting, however it sound just as good without it so would be fine if the battery died, just pop up the volume knob.

Customer Support : No Opinion
cant comment as havnt needed contact the company for any reason so far and hope not to have to.

Overall Rating : 10
ive been playing for 4 years, this is my 3rd bass but my first 5 string and i love it. if i had the choice i would deffinately buy this exact bass again.

I won't go into the usual list of features on this bass - that's already been covered here. I'll just focus on the stand out features and issues. The flexibility of adjustment and set-up on this bass is phenomenal. I give this rating a 9 only for the lack of hardshell case. For this price band it really should include one.

Sound : 10
Running into a Sansamp PSA-1, DBX compressor, Furman 31band EQ and out to a GK 1001RB-II amp into 2x10SBX-II and 1X15SBX-II. I had a really hard time dialing in the sound on this baby at first. Was floppy sounding, didn't have any definition, then I tweaked it a bit and it got really flat and lifeless, all mid-range. I basically had to back everything off, pull the volume knob up to shut off the active tone controls, and build my sound from the ground up. Once I did this, I found it's voice. That is the agony, and the ecstasy of having a lot of adjustment in an instrument. After a little effort, it pays off.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
It was set up pretty nicely when I received it, except the strings were flapping up against the pickups. After lowering the pickups a couple of mm on the low end, it was perfect. Making this adjustment was extremely easy and precise. Two fingers on a small philips head screwdriver and a couple of twists.
Fit and finish are perfect. No flaws, hardware is tight and feels solid. This is a heavy, very solid bass all around.

Reliability/Durability : 10
solid - although this is an instrument that you can't help handling with care. Something you want to last a lifetime. I am sure it will with the right treatment.

Customer Support : 10
The rep firm in the US that handles Warwick is outstanding. They were very responsive to some questions I had, and took exceptionally good care of me.

Overall Rating : 10
I am definitely a Warwick fan for good. I am very happy with my decision to purchase this bass

Made in 06 me thinks by Warwick, I got mine in a nice ocean blue finish, Wasnt as dark as i had expected it to be from the picture but its nice all the same, a welcme change from all the typical black guitars. Controll wise theres one bass, one treble, one pickup pan nob and a volume nob which when pulled out turs the bass fully passive, which is very handy if you run outta battery in the middle of a set.Theres also two 3 way toggles for both of its powerhouse humbucks which can change there tones between single coil humbucker and reversed polarity humbucker, which is wierd its kinda a brighter humbucker tone if ya ask me but still a handy feature to have, also makes the bass super versatile.O yea forgot to mention active the active e.q.

Lovely 2 piece brige, ive heard about problems with warwick bridges not accepting certain string sets but so far i have not encountered this problem.Swamp ash body with an ovangokl neck and a wenge fretboard for a nice warm growly signiture warwick sound.Good tuners which are angled for easy reach, mightnt seem like much but when your playing a gig and need to tune quick there very handy.

The neck seemed pretty thick for a while but i think that was cause this was my first 5 string now it feels like a regular neck.My favorite thing about the guitar is its string spacing i dunno if its just the 5 string but the spacing is great for fingerstyle, it gives you just enough room to be alble to play comfertably but the strings are close together so string skipping and moving down the strings seems a sinch, i dunno if this is an important factor for many people but its a major factor for me.Also another factor is the adjustablility of everything, Pretty much ever aspect of this thing can be tuned to meet your needs its NUTS.

With mine i got an Ok gig bag, could have used a bit more padding but still for free im not complaing ended up getting a hard shell as soon as i could though.I also got Some nifty strap locks which actually click into the strap button, Which was really cool, i thought so anyway.

All in all i think this bass has every feature under the sun which is great if like me you wanna play a lot of different styles.

Sound : 9
This thing suits pretty much every style i can thing a bass is required for, i mean you can coil tap each pickup 3 ways, remove or add a hefty bit of treble and bass and pan between pickups.i play through an ashdown mag 300 head and cab and basicly i love it in the middle pickup position with the bridge coil tapped to a singe coil and the neck as a humbucker with bass and treble up full it gives that nice warm clean sound with a touch of growl.I have recorded and played this babey live and it holds up well in both the warwick chape makes it great playing live cause its perfectly balanced. The only thing i have noticed is a bit of noise when both p/u's are put to single coils, nothing major live but when recording its a bit of a problem, Also the battery seems to run out fairly lively for me but i do use it pretty often so i dunno is it just me or the battery.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The bass was set up good at the factory but the action of the low b was a bit low it kept on hitting of the pickup, this also lead to the problem that the Low b was louder than the rest of the strings, EAsily solved though cause they give you the tools and the manual on how to look after your bass with it. The pickup height was good enough mabey a bit high. The bass contained Zero flaws in its craftsmanship.

Reliability/Durability : 8
This bass, when setup properly is a monstor the strap locks and the hardware that comes with it are solid. However what knocks it down a point is the fact that the battery seems to drain fairly quick(for me anyway) I would still use it no problem without a backup though for the simple reason that i can just turn it into passive mode and it would still sound A ok, not as good as before but still good none the less.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Cant comment on warwicks customer support cause ive had no problems but I can however comment on the guys i baught it off, Thomann.de . Theese guys seem to be a joke when it comes to customer service took me absolutly ages to get any form of reply of them when asking for the ups tracking number.i would not deal with them again ever unless i saw me a generaly good deal.im still gonna mark this as a no opinion though as this is not warwicks fault i thought id just give you people the heads up.My gitarist ordered an amp from them 2 months ago which they claimed was in stock and he still hasnt recieved the thing.

Overall Rating : 9
I love this bass, ive been playing guitar for aroun 4 years and bass for around 1(SOLID SERIOUS BASS PLAYING), I play fingerstyle and i play every form of music under the sun. The only problem with this bass is for me the pickups are situated in the area where i would normally be plucking with my fingers however i soon leared to live with playing closer to the bridge i dunno it sounds cleared but i dont like being retrained on where i can play. Its got a nice pop and slap in it and is great for every style under the sum IMO.I love its versatility and if it were lost id go nuts cause quite frankly i couldnt afford to replace it.What i hate is its damm cost.

I love this bass, its reliable(cept that batttey) and it sounds great and is a joy to play. What more do you want from an instument?Well yea the vampire and the buzzard do look a lot nicer but hell they are also a few times the price. If i could go back again and make the second choice of this bass or fender 4 string jazz bass, id pick tis babey again.I love the 5th string and its Variety.

When it comes to features I'm pretty sure this bass has it all, It has a stacked Master Volume control that when it is pulled up it by-passes the on-board preamp. It has to selecter flickswitches which mean you can chose either, parrallel humbucking, single coil or series humbucking. Then it has a balance control , bass tone control and treble tone control. The electronics are active 2-way and is fitted with two MusicMan MEC pickups which sound fantastic.

The body is made out of Swamp Ash with a Red oil finish that looks pretty cool. The neck is one peice of Ovangkol African Hardwood that gives it a growly sound very nice. The fretboard is made out of Wenge and is a 34" scale with 24 bell brass frets (good for sustain)

Two piece with balck finish and is very very solid. The tuning heads are black as well and it doesn't go out of tune easily.

Included in the price of the bass was a Warwick Rockbag with truss rod adjuster allen keysfor the bridge and nut adjusters

Sound : 9
This bass suits rock music best in my opinion which is my prefered style but within rock are many other types of music like metal indie etc etc and it is very versatile in that it can suit all of the styles within rock.

I run it through a Hartke B600 Combo 60Watt Amp which seems to compliment the bass nicely, I also have an ElectroHarmonix double muff that with humhucking pickups sounds really nice and not harsh and trebly like on my old jazz bass.

The bass has very nice growly lows (on the B and E strings) warm mids and bright treble which siuts me just fine.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I bought this bass new from SoundControl in Manchster UK where it was already set up. The set up is good but the action is too high so I'm going to have to take it back because it makes it a little too hard to play. The pickups selectors are not too noisy but there is a faint click from the amp when you do change. Warwicks are very high standard basses and all the fittings appear to be neat and tidy

Reliability/Durability : 8
This bass is a workhorse. It can take hours of playing without the need for tuning. The hardware is heavy duty and appears that it will last. The strap buttons are very solid as the go about an inch into the wood so its not coming loose anytime soon. Since I have bought it the truss rod hasnt't needed adjusting at all. I would use it without a backup but I keep one incase strings snap or somehtng like that.

Customer Support : 10
Since I bought it I had to email the technical department a few times because this is a new warwick bass and so it is not mentioned in the Owners Manual and theyu have been extremely helpful. I have had replies within the hour giving very detailed advise and information and I am very happy about thier customer support.

Overall Rating : 9
If this bass was lost or stolen then I'm pretty sure I'd buy another but It would take a while to raise the cash I'm only a student. I looked at this bass as well has Spectors and Tobias's and this was by far my favourite for the control that you have on the tone and the fact that it just looks awsome. I wish that I had asked to have the action lowered at the shop when I bought it because I haven't had the time to go back since.
