5 string fretless corvette bass with bubinga body wood, wenge fingerboard and ovangkol neck. i upgraded to active/passivepickups to, which is well worth it: you get a much greater variety of toones and a cool stacked tone knob. the other controls are:
volume knob with push/pull active/passive selector
pick-up pan control.
they all have a useful thing where it sort of locks in place in the middleso yuo can just have flat EQ
comes with an amazing gig bag, very padded
also, a nice extra is the tilted tuners, very helpful for people with short arms
Sound
:No Opinion
HUGE variety of sounds using just the controls on the bass: i usually have the treble half, the bass full and pick-up selector in the middle, maye a little toward the neck side. this gives a bassy but bright sound for flea-style finger bass (obviously not slap as it is a fretless).
a more jaco-like sound can be produced with fiddling, or pretty much any sound you want
Action, Fit, & Finish

very well set up, really low action perfect for soft playing but starts to sound like a harpsichord if you start to play too violently: perfect for soft jazz. the neck is a bit of a plank if you played a 4-string previoulsly but you get used to it.
everything tigh and perfect, no rattly knobs or loose input sockets, tuners keep in tune for ages (a surprise for me because I thought the adjust-a-nut wouldn't be very solid)

built like a war machine. extremely solid. only niggling fault is that you have to polish it once a week (not a problem for me at all but i can see how it would annoy people)
Customer Support

Dunno how long the warrenty is, but as far as i know the customer support it good as it was custom made and it only took a few weeks

also own a washburn x-20 or something like that: good for the price, but not comparable to this. i am thinking of upgrading it to the warwick $$ double buck to go with this one.
one thing i wish i had asked is if the hardware was available in black but looks good anyway.
if it was lost i would buy another provided i had the money, but probably afeter I buy the 4-string fretted

This bass has 24 frets (which are marked on the fretboard), volume knob, pickup adjustment knob and a tone knob. Thats all a bass needs to have, cause i can shape my sound more with effects. The sound itself in this bass is awesome! Very punchy even with the low-b string and sounds very beautiful. i have an ibanez soungear 406 bass also and this bass certainly has a lot more bigger sound in it (especially with the b-string). and there is that great growl in it, which is typical for warwick basses.
My version is passive. It doesnt have a battery inside, which is actually quite weird, this bass does sound like its active.
I have got one problem with the volume knob: it hisses when i change the volume and play something at the same time.
The fretboard feels good. I thought this would be a heavy bass, but the weight was much the same as my ibanez has.
I dont understand why couldnt you use this bass for slapping and popping. Even though its fretless, i like the slap sound that i get. It gives me a ?slighly muddy? slapping sound. One thing i was pissed off was about the fact, that this bass doesnt take every kinds of strings. But thats only a problem with the b-string. i changed strings to this after a week i got it. the b-string didnt fit in, so i hammered it a little. Then it fitted, but the sound suffered too much, so i put the old b-string in it, which has a good sound.
Overall: this is a great fretless bass which hardly has any drawbacks. I recommend this bass if yer looking for a 5-string fretless. The price is quite much if bought as new, but i got it used, happy me!

Two octave fretless ebony fingerboard on a Wenge neck, Natural oiled and beautiful Bubinga body, two active MEC J-pickups, both closer to the bridge than on Fender Jazz basses, with volume, blend, and concentric treble/bass. Comfortable body shape that balances the slightly-heavier-than-normal bass well when strapped on. Comes with a case of Warwick surface finisher to keep the wood clean and healthy, as well as a high-quality "Rockbag" gig-bag.
Sound
:8
The best sound comes out of a direct signal straight in to a mixer. Punchy, rich sound, until you hit the B-string. In live playing, I have found that the B-string is rather weak and undefined. A great fretless sound, however, that's not too cheesy or cliche. A large range of sounds are availible, from a passive, bridge pickup Jaco type tone (although a little less punchy), to a real bassy P-bass tone. A sensitive bass for light and soft playing as well as for funkin it up. Not too good for slap playing, but that's mainly because its a fretless. Tends to be on the mellower side. Definately not a bright bass.
Action, Fit, & Finish

I had to play with the action to get the B-string buzz out, but other than that, it has played beautifully. I found no flaws in the instrument from the time I got it three years ago.

Besides the weakness of the B-string that I mentioned, the instrument gets a pretty darn good sound, and I've really loved performing with it. The hardware is very high-quailty. Strap-locks have worked flawlessly. I have not had to make any adjustments to it. Neck is solid, pickups have given me little trouble. Be sure to unplug the chord from the bass when you're not playing it, because that drains the battery.

I had been lusting after a Warwick for some time before I bought this one. My main interest was in a Thumb Bolt-on, but when I finally played one, I found that I couldn't play it standing up because it was so neck-heavy. The Corvette had a much more understated sound, and was much easier to play. What put the Corvette over the top was its beautiful design. I have really loved this instrument, and don't regret my choice in the least.

Made in Germany, the specs are the same as the other Standard Covettes listed except it's a Fretless. I love the features.
1.) Wonderful hand polished wood grain.
2.) Outstanding Active electronics with passive option.
* Master Volume/(Pull for Active Elec. Defeat).
* Pickup Blend - Neck to bridge selection.
* Treble and Bass stacked combo nob.
3.) MEC Pickups (J)type x2
4.) Solid Hardware
5.) One of the tightest neck pockets I've seen for a bolt on.
6.) Gotta just love the Low B on this 5-sting.
7.) 34" Scale
I have to give this a 9 because it doesn't include the adjustable nut.
Sound

Can any one say GROOOOOOWLLLLL! Just as solid of a tone that anyone could ask for. It is by far the best sound Low B I have ever heard. Being a fretless, the nature of this bass is a darker blend of tonal characteristics, however, the higher tones are full of color and personality. The active electronics gives you the flexability to set the tone exactly how you want it. There isn't anything about the tone on this bass that I dislike. Performance in the studio is quite more effecient than my passive Standard J-Base. Can't quite compair the two though, their both totally different animals.
I am playing this in a rockin' power blues power trio. My playing style is more aggresive than most blues players, but find the tone to be huge which my guitar player really appreciates.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The setup on this bass is precise. I can't say if it came from the factory that way or if the music store set it up. Either way, the intonation is right on, action is as low as I've seen. I haven't needed to touch the pickups or anyother adjustments for that mater.
I have inspected the bass many times, looking for some kind of flaw. It is absolutely perfect. What else can I say..
Reliability/Durability

This bass if fairly new, with few playing hours on it. From what I can tell, the duribility of this bass is rock solid. The only weakness that I can see is the hand rubbed finish. In reading the manual (everybody reads the manual right?), there were strict instructions on how to polish the wood with the provided wax and cautions against liquids and other harmful materials that would damage the finish on the wood. To keep it as nice as it is, it will definately take more tender care than a Painted finish body style.
This in my opinion is worth the extra work if you appreciate good wood. I am giving it a 9 because of the added waxing that needs to be done on a regular basis.

I have been playing for sixteen years. I started on a Standard Upright bass, went to electric with frets, now I'm jammin' on a fretless again (go figure). I also play a Standard Fender J-Bass 4-string (With Frets)and enjoy them both. I am finding my time being spent more on the Warwick as of late and have found addition creative resources imbedded into this instument that has given me a whole other avenue to persue with my music. I would have to hunt down, mame, and cut off fingers belonging to anyone who would even think of stealing this bass. "STAY AWAY FROM MY WARWICK". Ummm....yeah, I would definately replace it with another if something unfortunate should happen to it.
The price was pretty high for my budget range, but have heard worse sounding basses for more.
