This is of course the Top of the Line Warwick made in Germany. This is a 2003 model 5 string. It has a absolutely incredible Bird's Eye Maple top with Ovangcol back. The 9 piece maple neck through contruction is absolutely unmatched with a Wenge fretboard and the signature Warwick Bell Brass Frets. Yes, even though I've had it for months I drool everytime I look at it! It is definately one of the most beautiful looking basses I have ever/will ever see.
Then comes the tonal range....
Anything you want!! From the hottest slap & pop sounds out to the fattest rumble you've ever heard. It has cut outs and tonal chambers within the bass so you can get unbelievable sustain and resonance as well an acoustic bass kind of sound.
It has a single Jazz Mec pickup near the neck and a Double Jazz Mec near the bridge.
It's dials are: Stacked volume and pickup pan. This also has a slap contour for changing from finger to slap on the fly. It has a Mid pan and a stacked treble and bass pan. This also has a pikcup coil option which cuts out the double jazz pickup to make it singular.
It has an active Seymour Suncan Pre running it all...Yes...I know!
The scale is very long. 24 frets but the neck is placed further down for ealier access to the highs, which I think is another awesome feature.

Sound : 10
I mostly play Praise & Worship at church which can vary between many musical styles from funk to rock to even jazzy stuff. This is really the bass for all styles, you can hear everything so clearly, mids that cut like a knife.
I have played USA Fender Jazz Delux, Yamaha TRB, Music Man Stingray and a warwick FNA Jazzman. All Great basses, but this bass blows them all out of the water...I suppose you would expect that from a $7500 bass!! (Aus retail price)
I play it through a front of house setup with folbacks at the moment caus I blew the budget on the bass, yes and still I'm this impressed!! I am torn between GK and Ampeg amps which I will decide on soon. I will also look forward to recording very soon, very confident that it will deliver!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I got it used so the action was a little different to what I had wanted. It took me a little bit of surgery and I had the right action for me. If you have never played a warwick I advise you to go down to your nearest dealer to try some out. I think they have a very distinct feel. The neck is very chunky and it can be ruff getting around it for someone not familiar with them.
The warwick's are the greatest for changeability, you can alter just about anything from the bridge/string and nut height as well as even the string spacing...Another warwick feature I fell in love with when I owned my jazzman.
The neck however is very long, If you have short arms you might find it hard when access the lower nots so you would have to wear the bass low and on a slant. But i have long arms, easy adjustment!

Reliability/Durability : 10
I'm very confident that this bass will withstand the test of time. I am very particular about treating it well and will baby it so there is not reason anything should go wrong. It does take regular waxing as it is not a glazed finish but thats part of the fun of taking care of an investment such as this.
The construction is very strong everything is very good.I ordered this from Germany to Australia and the neck is fine! I would play it without a backup anyday. Just make sure you have a backup 9v battery and this will give you no problems.

Customer Support : 10
I got it used so there is no warranty butof course I have it insured. If anythign went wrong, God Forbid, I would still cry...then get myself together and when the Insurance money came in i would rush off to buy another!
I have emailed Warwick a number of times with questions and they have been great. getting back to me the next day with solutions to body care and all sorts of things...very happy so far.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for about 8 years. not on a rofessional level but working on it. As I said Ive played many higher end basses but admit that I haven't played any in this bass's catagory which would include, Fodera's or High end Elrick's but this takes out every prize so far. I would like to also own a Warwick Thumb NT and then move on to other high end stuff to continue my collection.
I would never pay retail for this bass (I don't have money like that) but i would scan the earth for another awesome deal on it if it were stolen!
This retails for $4999 USD, so it is in a league of it's own...but once you have played it you can't choose anything else!

I'm just going to complete my previous review about this bass as some things had happened during this months so I won't change some of the things I said before.

Sound : No Opinion

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
The electronics went dead after doing some strange noises, I fell completely devastated you know it's a 3000? toy... but it seems that it has been some kind of odd failure.

I took it next day to the muscio shop where they packed it and sent it directly to Warwick Germany. Ten days afetr that I had it returned to the shop and when I opened my case I found...

A completely new bass!!!!
I was amazed, that is really doing things seriously. Mine was a 2001 unit, this one is a 2003 unit brand new, with upgrades, I think the preamp is the new BEC 3 way and the battery has been put apart in its own pit, so the electronics are now better placed and less exposed.

I won't say that this basses are not durable, as I think this has been just bad luck (perhaps I got the only damaged unit they missed) I make this statement cause my Streamer LX is still running loud, clear and beautiful after nearly four years of intense use (and sometimes a bit of abuse).

Customer Support : 10
Changed the bass with no questions, no problemas and in a short period of time. Just perfect for me, more than perfect I'll say.

Great gear made in Germany

This ax features Neck throu construction, semi hollow ovangkol body, with flamed maple top, flamed maple neck with Rose wood fingerboard. 24 frets. Twinjazz MEC bridge pickup an Jazz MEC pick up in the neck. The on board pream is 3 way Seymour Duncan.

The controls are one stacked volume pan control, middle tone, and a stacked trebel/bass tone control. By pulling the volume knob you get more thumpiness, the preamp gets you more bass and treble while cutting the mids, perfect for slapping. By pulling de treble knob you coil tap the twinjazz pickup and this way you get a Jazz pick up. Active electronics and pickups.

The finish is quite nice, natural oil finish tough it requires waxing.

It came whith a Rockbag deluxe gig bag, tools for adjusting the hardware, and a tin of beeswax from warwick.

I'm not sure but I think you can get a Case from Warwick, made specially for the model you buy, I think it's worth the extra cost. (I'm getting one as soon as possible)

I haven't owned this bass for a long time yet (one month) though I play it a lot and well... I don't take it to bed with me, but I though about it a couple of times XD

It's a good bass for features lots of nice things like all the warwick basses, easy acces electronic cover, the adjustable nut, the two piece full adjustable bridge. It's beautyful, a piece of art. Though the new Vampyre it's more impressive to see (and I'm looking forward to get one of them as soon as I can) this bass is simply beautyful and elegant.

Sound : 10
I'm playing lots of styles, anything from metal to jazz. but mainly this 2. And it fits marvellously. I can get very aggressive sounds, with low end, warm tones or just plain vintage bass. The slapping sound is great too. The multiple pickups configurations and the 3 way preamp lets you discover a huge array of different sounds.

The electronics are very quiet, even whith high treble settings you get a small hiss, but that's normal and i haven't played a bass that did'nt got that highs hiss.

The only problem is that rigth now I'm running it through a Shitty Peavy combo (TNT 115) but played it through an Ampeg SVT 4BH head and it was like heaven.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The bass had a nice set up though I found a couple of flaws.

This flaws are of my personal tastes so I wanted to make thsi clear.

The action was too high, but i like it very very low, so I suposse it was something standard but still to high for me.

The neck pick up was too low, the sound was great despite of this but I couldn't rest my thumb properly on it, and i needed to do that in my metal band (too much head banging and stage wandering).

I've searched for finishing flaws (spent nearly 30 minutes exclusively searching for them) but I haven't found one yet. This bass is really a piece of art.

The only think I don't like it's that you can see the electronics
through the F holes in the flamed maple top, the wiring is tied up and set up properly, and obviously the audience can't see them, even it would be difficult for your band members to see them, but you will if you have it strapped or in your lap and look down through the holes.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Looks like sturdy but also delicate.

The finish it's amazing but also needs to be taken care of.

Rigth now I can think of possible future problems, I'm not sure if it will happen but to give you an idea...

The electronics are a bit exposed, as you can actually see them through the F holes in the flamed maple top. I't not easy to see them, cause they are tied and put there the better way possible but I don't know if this could ever lead to a problem with the electronics.

Beware your nails!!! While slapping I made a small chipping between the neck and the neck pick up with my finger nail. It's difficult for me to find it despite I know were it is, and it's nearly imvisible but I suposse that a continuous chipping in that area would result in damaging the finish.

Finally if this bass is as reliable/durable as my Streamer LX, I'll depend on it, I will of course go on a gig without backup. But I don't know it yet.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have not dealed whith them yet so...

One year warranty, and warwick says depending on the damage, they would treat it as in Warranty despite it wasn't.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for five years, and I own an Streamer Lx also from Warwick. If it where stolen... I would kill and recover it. If not possible I would buy another one I'm sure.

I love nearly everything about this bass, though I would like the thing about the electronics being changed, though I suposse it's not possible.
