i own a '93-model, cherry-body and 4-piece flamed-maple neck, mec j-j pu's with 2-band-control. perfect german craftmanship!
Sound

thundering basses and crisp highs, the lack of mids is a little weakpoint and gives him only a 9 on skill-charts... too bad, since the bass starts to become vintage i dont want to spill it with "upgrades".

the bass's technique does everything you want, nut-screws and a 3-way bridge (incl. stringspacing) give you the exact setting you desire. the smooth touch is priced with permanent waxing but; you know that when you get one

with a little care you'll have a lifetime-instrument, hardware's fine, straplocks and best materials guaranties best, 100% pro-ware. no backup needed (hold an "old" string-set in spare)

i bought it a year ago and gigged it roughly, i have and had a lot of gear, when stolen i'd rather get me a stage I because of the mids.
love all of it, specially the wood-touch and i dont like the waxing.

96 model, MEC gold 2xJ pickups, bass and treble E.Q.Active or passive. Metallic grey poly finish on the streamer/spector ns style curvy body, original brass adjust-a-nut,4 piece maple neck with 3 (wenge?)strips and wenge fretboard. Bell brass frets. Warwick 2 piece chrome bridge and tuners. Schaller straplocks and warwick rockbag included. Not sure what the body is made out of on these older ones but i'll guess maple. If you know-email me.

The bass sounds fantastic for any style music if you adjust your technique accordingly. I play alot of funk and R&B and this bass gets a nice punchy low mid growl with both pickups equal. Highs are nice and transparent, not clicky or brittle. This week i'm playing a blues gig and I was a bit worried about bringing this bass because of the "moderness" of it. There are alot of slow blues songs on the setlist where a warm, growly, tubby upright thing would lend it self well and I found it in this bass in no time. Favoring the bridge pickup turning down the highs a bit and plucking up on the neck made the bass say "brrroooowww"with the perfect blossom and decay for that sound. Also being a J bass lover, all those sounds are available with a little extra punch and lowmid sweetness. At first I was disapointed that there was no midrange control but was happy to find that the sweet mids I desire are all in there already and having mid boost would be overkill. Another nice, but strange thing about this bass is that when I slap the midrange that is usually boxy on other basses doesn't get in the way at all. I originally wanted a second J bass or something with a maple fretboard for slapping. Now I don't need one.The bass has a wide variety of sounds available and I'm sure it will soung good in about any situation. I have no dislikes for the first time ever in an instrument except that it is so beautiful and shiny that I am paranoid about taking care of it and dreading that first nick.(its coming)

Set up was nice and low with no buzzing. The brass frets needed polishing badly. The bass sat in a shop since it was new(why??) and I doubt that anybody polished them. No big deal at all. This bass can be set up for anybody. The nut, string spacing, saddle height, intonation, and even bridge height are all adjustable. The d string tuner creeks(big deal). The finish is flawless and impossibly shiny. I originally wanted a natural oil finish, but now I like the almost black metallic finish better because it seems rare for a warwick bass and its tougher and requires less maintanence. The only complaint I have is the location of the input jack. Its right where my stand holds the bass. Another minor thing.

If this bass got stolen I would be up shit creek because I would'nt be able to afford another for a while. I would buy another though. If money wasn't an object I would want to try a stage1 or 2 first. If money was no object I'd have alot of things. This is the bast bass I've ever owned. It sounds amazing, its user friendly, and damn sexy.
