This is a set-neck, 5 string Bass Guitar. It's a hollow body, single cutaway in a "Les Paul" stylee. Jet black with white laminate. MOP inlays. Passive electronics with two volumes, two tones and a pick-up selector switch. Gotoh Tuners with Buzz Fieden tuning system. Fat frets on rosewood fretboard. Deluxe gigbag included. Twin Washburn soapbars.

I like the sound of this bass. It's my first Hollowbody. Doesn't get much sound at all unplugged, heck there are solid bodies I own that get much more sound unplugged. I'm using this bass with an Ampeg Rocket 100 and my main rig which is a Mesa Boogie M-Pulse 100 rig with vintage SWR cabinets. Bass is quiet and has a nice "warm" sound. Can get 'bright" but will never convince you it's an Alembic. Can approximate a good PJ sound. much better for studio than stage simply because of the fragile nature of hollowbody guitars.

In that I bought this bass slightly used of Ebay, I don't know how it came set up from there, but when I got it the bass was a mess. The neck needed a lot of TLC from the boys at "Parkway Music" in Clifton Park, New York. Even with their tender ministrations I think I'm gonna have to get a fret job done on this bad boy to make it perfect. Finish is good. Fretwire is a little on the sharp and high side on the edges. Bridge, tailepiece and saddle are first rate as is the tuning system.

You can play with it live, but I'd be scared to death of dropping it. There's no reinforment by the jack so, if dropped I'm sure the plug and jack with go right through the body. Don't know how the finish will hold up to my toxic sweat. Strap buttons are good. Truss rod needed two adjustments in as many weeks. Would not gig without back-up.

Been playing for money off and on since Nixon was elected in '68. This bass is "alright" but nothing to die for. When I've played out with it a bit more I'll either sell it or put it on consignment. If lost or stolen I might by one in red. I like the build and style of the bass and it's weight. I compared it to a lot of bargain 5's. And for $299.00 you can't beat it.
