Made in Vietnam, 2005, neck-thru mahogany body, chrome hardware, jazz pickups, apparently active, natural satin finish, 24 frets, rosewood fretboard, vol/vol/tone/tone pre.

I loved the sound of this bass when I got it, but slowly I have liked it less and less for some reason. I run it through my Ashdown Perfect 10 combo and you can get some real deep lows, mids are fairly good, high's are okay. The vol/vol/tone/tone setup doesn't do much for me, I don't feel you can really get as many tonal possibilities as a 3-band or even 2-band EQ. Doesn't ever seem to be noisy, though it can get a little bit of buzz when near a computer. This is a fairly dark sounding bass due to the mahogany body and rosewood fretboard. Jazz players would probably like this bass' tone but it is shocking for metal.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:

When I got this bass it was completely out of tune, there was so much fret buzz it wasn't funny and all the pots were scratchy, so after all that was sorted out it played pretty good. I'm still irritated by all the fret buzz this bass has, I don't think it's just one of those 'adjust the truss-rod' fixes either, no matter what I do there is always fret buzz, I think this is because of dodgey and uneven fretwork. Finish has loads of blemishes which I unfortunately only noticed once I took this bass home. While not visible from far back you'd expect Washburn would take more care when finishing their basses.
Reliability/Durability
:

It's hard to say whether this bass is reliable or not. It has stayed in its shocking state for quite some time so I'll give the reliability a 5, LOL. I wouldn't gig this bass due to its poor setup though. Goes out of tune very quickly, doesn't like being subject to temperature change either.

If I wasn't such a noob in the gear world when I got this bass I wouldn't regret it so much. I've been playing for around 2 years now though I am quite experienced. This is an alright bass, it just needs a a real good setup, maybe a different pre-amp and pickups, and some seriosu fret work. Overall it's a good package but just executed poorly. I only gave this bass a bad rating because in its price range you can get a MUCH MUCH MUUUUUUUUCH better bass. If this was stolen I would certainly not buy one again.

mine was made in vietnam, evidently. same features as already listed; 24 fret, yadda yadda yadda. i dig the volume/blend combo quite a bit, and the 2 tone knobs allow you to dial in pretty much any sound you want. the bridge isn't quite ideal for me, but doesn't detract from the sound or playabiity at all.
Sound
:

the sound on this thing is KILLER. i play bass for an aggro rock/metal band, and this thing does the job just fine. i also do some jazz and blues stuff on my own time, and it's fine for that as well. if you play it, this machine can do it.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:

my one complaint with this bass is the way it was set up at the factory/the store where i got it. needed the action, intonation, and harmonics reset in a shop after i got it, and the frets need leveled, so another $80-$120 when i get that done. i've had the instrument a week as of the time this is posted. the pickups are great, and the tone they allow for is just awesome, but i am somewhat annoyed at the fret buzz due to uneven fretwork at whatever factory it came from.

i play very aggressively, and this bass keeps up without complaint. i question the finish, but time will tell. everything else about this bass is solid. it's built like a tank. i don't like to gig without backup on principle alone, but i'd feel confident with this bass if i had to.

i've been playing about 8 years now, and am primarily a guitarist. this is my first bass, and i picked up a new fender bassman 150 to run it through. this combo seems perfect for just about anything, short of large hall and stadium gigs. i've also got a gibson victory mkII, which i run thru a Laney 50 watt tube amp, a takamine acoustic/electric whose model info i forget, and a vintage guild d-40.

This is from the eBay site:
Stained mahogany body
Neck thru body
Multi laminate neck
Rosewood fretless fingerboard
Grover bass tuners
ABT pickups (Advanced Bass Technology) JJ
Dot fret markers on side of neck
It has 4 knobs. 2 pickup volume/blend knobs, treble, and bass.
Bought it on eBay. Apparently the fretless version is rare.
Sound
:

This bass has great punch, even on a fretless. Slapping the open E makes a very deep, growly, punchy sound. Great for funk. However, such a sound on a fretless seems mismatched. It doesn't quite have that smooth sound I was looking for, probably because of the slightly rough fretboard.
The highest string gives too twangy a sound (not enough body), which seems out of balance with the other strings. It may just be the strings. I still have the stock string on.
The pickups are quite good though. Powerful sound.
I did notice a weird echo sound when playing, and I have no idea where that is coming from (not from the amp). That might bug some people.
I play whatever style comes to me, but fretless seems more fitted to jazz. Overall I'd say it is more fit to be fretted than unfretted, but it still sounds pretty darn good. Overall, great bass for the price.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:

When I first got it, it was a tad buzzy because the neck was bowed pretty bad (I didn't expect buzz from a fretless), but it seemed to fix itself...now it doesnt buzz.
The stock strings it comes with are very harsh on the fingerboard, and I suggest they be replaced with flatwounds right away. It already has string-grooves all along the fretboard.
Action was medium-low upon arrival. The bass is thinner than I thought, so it is light despite heavy wood.
Pickups are great. Feels good to hold, looks beautiful! When I look at it...I must play it. It looks that good.
Reliability/Durability
:

It is made of strong wood.
Stained finish can't chip or wear off, so that's good.
Hardware is strong/solid.
Haven't had it more than a month, so not sure about gigging...

Please note that I haven't had too much experience with this bass yet, I just wanted to make a review because when I went to buy, there were none, and I'm sure this may prove helpful to somebody.
I have been playing for 4 years. This is my first fretless that I've owned, but I've played a fretless Warwick and Godin. Although the other two are much better because they have that super-smooth, jazzy sound, this bass makes a good "powerful" fretless bass.
If I would suggest anything, it would be that the fingerboard be replaced with ebony or ebanol to make it sound more smooth.
Not a bad choice for fretless.

This was made in 2001, on the sticker on the back it says "Inspected 9/11 2001... Wow. A little bit of history there.
But anyway, it has four strings, goes all the way to the second octave, and has two individual volume pots with two tone pots.
The handwork on this bass is magnificent for the price I gave for it, laminated neck thru - Mahogany, maple and cherry.
The satin finish, however, starts to bubble when the wood dries, because of a pigment fuck-up with the finish. This has, however been corrected with later models. Mine has a little bit of the afore-mentioned problem, but not so much and only on the inside of the bottom "wing".
Grover tuners, buzz feiten, standard bridge, ABT pickups (Jazz),
thin neck (This rules - perfect spacing)
All in all an 8 - I draw two points from it on account of the bridge and the satin finish.

It sounds great! I didn't expect it to given the price, but it really does! It does better in the studio than Live, i would say - a good thing for me. The low F sounds fuzzy, but that can probably be adjusted.
This bass plays great, and is very varied - it's the best in its range if you like slapping and tapping, because of its super bright and brilliant funkiness.
It's not noisy at all - almost no buzz or fuzz.

The only thingf to draw in this category is string height. I adjusted it, and it plays like butter.

This will never break. Trust me. I would use it without a backup any day.
But the finish - if you keep it in daylight around summertime, you can say goodbye to it. Keep it in a dark humid plac at all times, and you can't go wrong.

I've played for five years, and have had a Kingston, a Hartke, and a Mexico Fender Jazzbass before this one, and the washburn outdoes them all. There is only one thing left for me to do with it, and that's buy EMG pickups, and a brass saddle. If this cost 2000 USD, it would be an 8. So figure it out - it costs 625, it has got to be a 14! (But of course there is no 14.)

4 string - Has 2 full octaves - Neck-thru - Mahogany - Beautiful Bass - 2 Jazz style passive pickups. Satin finish. Light and quick!

Got it yesterday - Played great right out of the box. I'll probably tweak it just a bit to take out a teensie-weensie E-string buzz. Pickups were fine, and the bass was a perfect 10. This thing looks sooooooo great!

I've had it for a whole day and it is still perfect, so I think it will last a very, very long time! It's all solid. Since I don't have a backup, I'd play anywhere without a backup. Wouldn't need one anyway! I'll take care of it, too ... Like I do all my instruments!

I've been playing for 35 years. I have owned and played a Ric 4001 fretless, a Kramer Duke, a Washburn Bantam, a Spector NS2000 5-string, and now this one. I think I might settle down here for a while... I also have owned and played a Univox LP copy, an Ibanez PF300 LP copy, a Yamaha SBG500 (still have - plays like butter), a 1998 US Strat (freakin-a!), and a recent tele-style project (still have), an Ibanez '77 Concord D Acoustic, an Oscar Schmidt satin classical. My favorite amp for studio work is my Fender Blues Jr.
If this were stolen, I'd say prayers for (and against) the thief. I'd then scrape around for some more money and replace the bass. I ain't gonna lose it. How on earth could you "lose" your guitar? I don't drink that much... Geez...

i have a couple of basses and this one has got to be IT!!! I believe this bass was made in Korea. It has 24 frets, ABT JJ style pickups (passive), bolt on neck (the U.S. version has a neck through, i'm located in Asia), it has a wood finish (which is again a little different than the U.S. version), two volume and tone knobs (one for each pick up), rosewood fingerboard, grover tuners...

The ad says it all, it has punch and bottom. This bass is a real steal. I purchased it at a very low price (much less than it was priced) and it sounds really great. i can get a very round sound to an edgy metal sound and everything in between. arguably it's like a modern fender jazz (at least for me). modern in the sense that the sound is much richer and fuller and the design is much better. I play in a new school punk band and it suits our sound very well.

no need to adjust the truss rod. it's been set perfectly. didn't have to get used to this bass beacause it's set like my old Fernandes LEBJ-4 (Vintage-Style Jazz Bass). The pick ups are set just right. Washburn should have put a better nut though. It's got a plastic one. But what the hell!!! The bass is already a steal. I shouldn't really complain.

I've had this bass for only a month. So far I have no complaints. It's tough as nails. I jump around and all that when we play and the straps don't fall off even though I don't have any straplocks (but i should get a pair). It's lightweight. It doesn't lose its tuning. No backup needed. This baby will last a long time.

The store that i got this bass from gave me only a 3month warranty which sucks royal ass. I was thiking of bludgeoning the owner of the store with the bass so that i can maximize my warranty. But since I love this bass too much, I'd rather not. Since I'm in Asia, I won't be able to get a hold of the guys from Washburn (I don't wanna pay long distance charges). But in reality, I don't need to call them or anything anyways coz this bass is well built.

I've been playing guitar for 10years now and bass for 2 1/2years. I'm not as experienced in playing bass as the next guy but for me this is the best bass i've ever owned. I'm becoming a better bass player because of this bass. My first bass was a real crappy one and the Taurus T24 is a far cry from the first bass I ever had. It sounds much better than my previous Fernandes LEBJ-4 Jazz bass also. There's no reason for me to hate this bass. The sound and feel is terrific and the price no question is a real bargain, do the math ($1 = P56). I was supposed to get a Peavey Grind bass but this one when I saw it a week after the Peavey came in the store, got fixated by it's look, and when i plugged it in, fell in love with the sound. It sounds like this is a "superficial glowing review" I know. But I can't help but love this bass. I'll maim the guy who steals this bass coz I won't be able to get the same one in the store coz this was the only piece that they had.

It has a very nice, mellow sound, from warm, not too deep, to fairly bright. I play it thru a cheap small tube amp from the "70's" and there's no hiss or unwanted noise, and it sounds really good. It does have great sustain since it's a neckthru. I would say that you could play it for any style depending on what amplifier and/or effects you use. Overall it sounds great to me, I think it'll sound better with flatwounds.

I played bass in a band 30 years ago. I havent played professionally in the last 10 years, but decided to pick it up again.
I was looking for a moderately priced bass so I could start playing when I found this bargain on Ebay. I think that for the price I did exceptionally well.
Overall, this is a well-made, solid bass. Great sounding & good playing bass!
