I love the mids of this bass. They really kick ass with a good amp, and the low-end is killer, too. But the high-end sounds could use improvement. I think all sound flaws come from the buzzy bridge springs, and weak and buzzy electronics. The p-pickup could use replacement maybe with a Dimarzio split p, or a Bartolini. Not as good tone as high-end Washburns.

The bass was set up perfect from the factory, with the exception of a twisted neck from display use at the shop. The pickups needed no adjustment, i just like to "v"-shape them for my own tone purposes. The bass was perfect when i bought it.

This bass was my first bass, and has survived TONS of abuse, with only the inevitable dings on the finish and headstock. The bridge sucks, it doesn't quite resonate like i want, and the springs buzz when the action is set low. The finish doesn't wear off very much, and the lighter-colored versions of this bass dont' show scratches as much. The strap buttons fell off when i was playing at jazz practice, so i had some fatter ibanez ones stuffed in there, so it works good now. I never have to adjust the truss rod, and frets only buzz when i tune down to like a c or b. I never had a backup to play, so this was my main for 2 years. I think it's gonna become my sticker-covered bass now. Wonderful beginner bass, although i think they don't make wp-4s anymore.

I never dealt with washburn, but Morgenroth music has taken great care of my bass for me, with the 2-year warranty, which they disregard and repair after 2 years.!

I've played for 2 years, and I played first through a beat-up guitar amp, then a crate b-20xl, now through a hartke 3500 and 115xl cabinet. If it were stolen, i would probably just save and get a tobias, ibanez, or yamaha, like i am. I only need one bass, because i trust my instruments. i love the feel of this bass, the fat neck is wonderful for slap playing, and it has a great slap tone with the tone knob cranked. I compared it to the hamer slammer bass(which sucks complete ass), and to the ibanez sr-305dx. The 305 blew my bass away, but i only had $250 to spend. And i noticed that although the washburn and slammer were almost identical, the washburn's pickups rang a lot truer and were much louder, so i bought it! If you want one of these puppies, check ebay out and see if they have it for around $150, cause they usually do. Or, for a similar tone, with a more modern look, check out the washburn xb-100, 105, 200, or 205. Washburns are great and keep their value pretty well.
