very good all round tones for a wide variety of music styles. when used with an ashdown evo 300 into 4x12 cab absolutely rocked! on stage di'd into a tech 21 sans amp modeller this bass produced fine sounds that sat nicely in the mix when playing with the band. the fretboard produced even and consistant tones throughout after a brief setup adjustment. for a passive instrument this bass is really good...loud & proud!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
fairly well set up by wesley. slight inotation and string height adustments improved the action and tone. 1st class cutaway really makes this a 2 octave instrument. the neck is slim for a 5 string and once you get used to the narrow string spacing it is a joy to play.

Reliability/Durability : 9
seems to be built like a tank. nice cast bridge, good quality tuners, knobs and electronics. can't see any issues arising with this bass. I only use this bass as a backup on a couple of songs at the moment so it is not going to take a battering yet. the hardware is impressive. nice cast bridge, good quality tuners, knobs and electronics.

Customer Support : 10
wesley are great. 12 month warranty and a friendly, helpful and efficient service which the big boys should but don't do.

Overall Rating : 10
i have been playing 20+ years and owned a variety of bass guitars. my current 1st bass is a 73 fender jazz with dimarzio model j's and series/paralell switching. the wesley comes nowhere near the jazz but neither should it. i use the wesley to plod through ballads and where i need rich deep tones that sit way back in the mix. prior to buying the wes i was borrowing a yamaha active 5 string for this purpose. the wes, alough passive, more than matches the yammy in both action and tone. it's a great bass but i wish it had a solid maple neck...because thats what i like best! at some point i will probably experiment with caps, pots and switching but for now its just fine. the only thing cheap about the wes is the price. buy one!

Bought mine in 2005, new on eBay for #82. That is ridiculously cheap!
Made in Korea, seems to sell solely through Wesley Guitars in England.
Very solid feeling instrument - Agathis Body (East Asian Alder),24 fret rosewood fingerboard,2 x SJ-5 Coil passive Pickups, 2 Volume 1 Tone control

Mine is a metallic maroon/red colour.

Sound : 7
I play a range of styles, mostly classic rock when gigging, but also more jazz oriented music for recording.
Being a 5 string this has a full, deep sound; I don't find it to be very bright (maybe it's the strings!) so seems less suited for funk.
It hasn't got the tonal range of my Warwick 4 string, but that's active, and I choose this because it's passive, as a backup instrument.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Guitar arrived in the post pretty well set up. There ios a little bit of fret buzz, but I've seen worse on more expensive makes (I also have a US Fender Precision).
The back of the neck has a slighty rougher feel than I am used to, but it's not unpleasant. The neck is a good width - I didn't want a 5 string plank, and this is only a small amount wider than a 4 string neck. Only had it a few weeks but it has a very playable action.
The finish on the instrument is very good - no blemishes, the hardware is all solidly made and mounted.

Reliability/Durability : 7
Too early to say for sure, but it does feel very solid - the controls are all firm, there's no sense of looseness anywhere.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Not had too deal with them

Overall Rating : 8
I've played bass for 22 years; I have a Warwick Rockbass Corvette Classic (which is truly wonderfull), a Fender Precision Fretless, US made from 1984. and a Hohner B2A stick bass (which is very portable and light). I used to play through a Trace Elliot 1x15 combo, now use an Ashdown Mag 300 Head and 2 1x15 Cabs (one Trace, one Flight).
Compared to my other basses this stands up well, especially for the price, but's it's not top of my list. If it were stolen, I would probably get round to replacing it, rather than rushing out straight away and buying a replacement. For the price, they can't be beaten, and it's a good instrument to get started on.

Made in Korrea, not sure when. This bass has 24 frets, mking it double octaive, 5 strings, and 2 very large coli pickups!
The body is solid hardwood, and it has a kinda metallic marron finish on it, which looks rearly cool. The neck has a distintive course finish on it, which makes it very distinctive to play

Sound : 10
where do i start.

I upgraded to this bass from a Starfire Jazz bass, and when i took it out the box, i was amazed with the sound it produced. This guitar puts some #1000 + guitars to shame! It's loud, due to the amazing pickups, and is great for slaping. I can't fault this guitar in this area.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The action on this bass is good, the pickups are well placed, and the neck is straight. One minor niggle is the gap betweem the front pickup and the base of the neck is a little out. But this is so small it hardly maters

Reliability/Durability : 9
Never broke on me, i could probebly throw it infront of a train and it'd come out ok(although i'd cryif it didn't!)

But you should always gig with a backup

Customer Support : 10
Fast delviery of the bass, was in tune when i got it out the box. Can't recomend these guys enough!

Overall Rating : 9
Compared to my starfire (which cost me 50 pounds more) this bass is amazing. It's certainly the nicest bass i've ever played (that includes Ernie ball stingrays!) and at the price i paid it's probebly the best guitar you could get for that money!

It's a 2000 model made in Korea I think. Full 24 fret solid body purple and maroon finish. It has a nice chunky neck this one. 2 volume one tone with passive pickups. I'll give it an 8 as it has passive pickups.

Sound : 9
Play mostly Zeppelin and 70s rock stuff, has a nice natural compression from the pickups and a massive sound. I usually wind back the bridge pickup slightly to get the tone I like. Sounds fantastic. "I've been Dazed and Confused . . [boom] [boom]"

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
It had been set it up when I bought it, was even in tune when I took it out of the box - intonation was all spot on as was the truss rod neck was nice and straight and buzz-free. I lowered the bridge pickup slighty as it was a little to close to the strings. First thing I did when I got the guitar was to fit some Rotosound half-flatwounds strings - this improved the sound and feel 100% and made it much easy to play.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Never had any problems. Great gigging guitar. I always get people asking me what type of guitar it is because of it's strange styling.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 9
For the #150 I paid for it, this is the best bass I have ever played. It is really chunky and has a nice matte feel to the neck. it is quite heavy and this adds to the sound. You need to tame the bass, but once you have you will never want to play another bass - EVER !!
