Bought brand new from a seller on eBay for a measly 55 GBP. My thoughts were that if it turned out to be a pile of junk, it wouldn't be a costly mistake. Standard P-bass set-up, 1 volume, 1 tone control, split pick-up. Solid wood body and 20 fret neck. The one I bought was yellow with a maple neck and maple board. Standard P-bass copy bridge. Does the job but nothing to write home about.

Sound : 8
I play metal and hard rock through a Laney B1 into two Marshall 4 x 10 cabinets. The sound is classic 'P'. Punchy and bright. In a live situation, it cuts through any mix. Used mine last weekend whilst recording a demo in favour of my BB415 which sounds muddy by comparison. The Engineer didn't need to EQ the bass at all. A little compression and it sounded sweet

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The fret wires hadn't been finished leaving sharp edges which could be felt as I ran my hand up and down the fretboard. This was soon rectified with a small file. Action was a little high out of the box but with a tweak of the truss rod and adjustment of the saddles, the action came down nicely. No buzzes or rattles. The only bug-bear is the mis-alignment of the pick-ups in relation to the strings. The overlap of the two halves of the split pick-up is incorrect meaning that the pole pieces of one half of the pick-up does not sit directly below the string that it is alloted to. This cannot be corrected without either cutting the original pick guard or replacing it with a genuine Fender item. Machines hold the bass in tune well.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Absolutely solid as a rock. Quite weighty which could be an issue on a long gig. Hardware is budget but works as it should. Pots are nice and smooth with no buzzes or crackles. Strap buttons are solid. Paint finish seems as though it will last. Would stand up to a life on the road without issue.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Not had call to contact Westfield and as it cost me so little, if anything happened to it that I couldn't fix myself, I'd throw it away and get another

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing bass for 29 years now and have had more basses pass through my hands than I care to remember including the Fender Precision that this bass emulates and I can honestly say that it is as close to the original as the current Squiers get.

I wanted a P-bass but didn't want to go down the Fender route as I was disappointed with the last Mexican made model that I owned and feel that they're not great value for money. I took a chance on this budget copy and came up trumps. I love this bass so much that I've bought another. They would make a superb back-up to your main gigging bass.

Bought it new last year i think for around ??100 in natrual finish with a black 3ply pickguard, Has all the features you'd expect of a standard cheap bass, standard p bass pickup, volume and tone controls

Sound : 8
Used with a ashdown mag 300 4x10 it sounds absolutley fine, i play in punk bands and it sounds great, used this type of bass to record 2 cds, the first was a really old quite destroyed green one and it sounded fine on the cd, used mine to record another one and its great, very versitile sound, can get a bright punchy sound out of it that reallys sounds fairly great

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The finish its really good, the action is just right, very little fret buzz all the frets are smooth with the edge of the neck unlike other cheap basses i have, while not as good as other basses, i really enjoy playing it

Reliability/Durability : 8
This bass will withstand pretty much anything, for a cheap light bass its very solid used at numerous gigs, i generally just throw it in the car with no case and its not scratched or damaged so id say it was pretty bullet proof, usually needs re tuning after a couple of songs iff im playing haard

Customer Support : No Opinion
not had any problems so never had to deal with them

Overall Rating : 8
Compared to other cheap basses that ive played, vintages, squires, etc this is one of the best, can be easily picked up for well under ??100 and while it wont stand up too well to a proper fender for the money its definatley a good buy, you can use it for anything and it will do a respectable job, and thats all you can ask, if you pay that money you just want a bass that feels reasonable and sounds good, and it does that

Bought second hand for ??30, looked like it had been kept in a shed for several months - needed cleaning, oiling, polishing, new strings and control knobs - result fabulous guitar! Just tone and volume controls, nuthin' fancy.

Sound : 5
No buzzing from pickups or any perceptable problems, nice deep bass tone, basic bass sound is all you need. Tone/volume controls work fine! Perfectly balanced, play rock and blues.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Still set up properly despite being rather neglected, no problems with neck.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Very solidly built guitar, built like a sh*t house, should last years.
changed strap buttons for strap locks just in case. Stays in tune perfectly.

Customer Support : 5
Spares easily obtainable.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
Fender Telecaster for rhythm playing. New to bass, maybe graduate to a more expensive model in the future. This guitar is fine for the time being. Use with Marshall bass amp.

What year was it made? Around 2004
Where was is made? Japan?
20 Frets
4 Strings
Passive Spilt Precision Bass Pickups
Tobacco Sunburst
Rosewood Finger Board

Yes it actually looks like a Fender but the headstock lets it down it's totally the wrong shape.

Sound : 8
I generally play rock through a Trace Elliot 1 x 15" 300w Combo and have played it onstage in a room that accomodated 200 people and to be honest it played well live,
apart from the E string going flat,
It managed to keep up with an Ibanez RG, Epiphone Les Paul, and a Pearl Export drum kit and people said it sounded well.

The sound has a nice boom fell and goes through you like a vindaloo.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 4
THE PICKUPS ARE TO BE HONEST A BUGGER TO MAINTAIN, you have to constantly adjust the pickups so you get the right sound. This let's the bass down.
The finish "Tobacco Sunburst"- Basically brown.
Scratches like a cat on happy pills- Andy slight touch and your fifnish has vanished! E string tuner was faulty

Reliability/Durability : 6
Will this bass withstand live playing? Yes, Tried and tested

Does the hardware seem like it will last? I suppose

Are the strap buttons solid? Had to REPLACE the strap buttons because they were basically bollocks.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Most likely there HQ is in a shed in Japan

Buy a richwood instead. But still a good guitar for a novic/intermediate

2003/2004 model. Probably made in some far-eastern communist slave-labour type country...
20 frets, 4 strings
standard P-bass set-up: 1 pasive split-coil pickup, 1 vol, 1 tone
natural wood-grain finish with transapent gloss coating
P-bass shape.
String through top bridge
open 'clover-leaf' style tuners

no accessories other than the allen keys for the bridge/truss rod. the guy in the shop gave me a discount on a strap & guitar wall hanger.

Sound : 8
i play rock/metal bass, occasionally funk, through a 100watt H/H bass amp. at home i have to use my 15watt fender guitar amp, but it sounds OK.

it sounds good! i reckon it's got a good range of sounds for a cheapo 1 pickup bass, but i'm a guitar player so what do i know? i just play it at home, mainly just to work out basslines for my own songs. it sounds best when i'm playing with my fingers, nice & warm & deep, but it does thrash metal well when i get the plectrum out... not too bad for slap either. it's just a case of adjusting the height of the pickup and the vol/tone controls to get the sound you need

never used it on stage or in the studio, so i wouldn't know where it's best suited...

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
it was well set-up when i got it, obviousy i adjusted it to my personal taste since then. i intend to change the machine heads for some sealed ones at some point, and maybe see if i can get a better pickup(nothing wrong with the stock pickup though) the only modification i've made is to add a thumb-rest.

the finish is good, i think it looks really classy. Sand the headstock down and stick a Fender decal on it and most people would be hard-pressed to tell the difference...

Reliability/Durability : 9
Will this bass withstand live playing? - can't see any reason why not

Does the hardware seem like it will last? - all seems durable, no problems so far

Is the finish good enough to last, or does it seem thin and easy to wear off with lots of playing? - good quality as far as i can tell

Are the strap buttons solid? - had no problems with them

Can you depend on it? - no problems so far

How often does the neck/truss rod need to be adjusted? - had it about 9 months i don't think i've touched the truss rod yet

Would you use it on a gig without a backup? - i'd have to, i've only got one bass! i probably would use it without backup, basses seem generally less prone to problems than guitars...

Customer Support : No Opinion
no problems as yet, so i haven't had to deal with them. it seems fine, i can imagine any problems being as a result of use and/or abuse rather than the fault of the manufacturer.

i like to try and fix most things myself anyway...

Overall Rating : 8
been playing guitar for about 12 years, been playing bass for about 6/7 years. i used to play a Maison bass, but sold it after getting the Westfield.

if i had to replace it, i'd probably get a slightly more expensive/better bass, with 24 frets.

i like the fact that it's a simple layout with the one pickup, it sounds good, the neck feels nice, good action, looks nice.

the only real bad point: it's a bit 'neck-heavy', the only solution i can think of is to make a cavity in the back and stick lead weights in it to weigh the body down and hopefully balance it out.

in short: i like it! i wouldn't have bought it otherwise. good value for the money and definately a great beginners bass, or reliable back-up for the more experienced bassist.

Features : 6
2004, precision chinese maker, 20 frets, 4 string.
Volume and tone control, push on chrome knurled with smooth, quiet action. Pickups are passive split humbuckers, with healthy output.
The finish on the body is not like a #1200 gibson but all serviceable the neck finish is superb with well dressed frets, and satin finish. Chrome bridge is a bit scratchy at the edges and would be better covered.
Its a good copy of the fender precision bass body, basic bridge and club head tuners which are all, just right.
Beautifull rosewood on maple neck, very well made and good selection of wood grain for tension properties balanced against string weight. Good finish on medium frets.
No accessories

Sound : 10
Play rnb. Just starting out and the wider fretboard means its easy to play with precision. No noise discernable.
Fender champion 110 and 15" celestion red 150 Watt external speaker, it is all good. The guitar amp can use its own speaker at low volumes as the sound produced is very precise and does not make the speaker flap, it's a fender mexico amp.
This instrument has the original tone i was looking for, warm and powerfull with good solid low frequencies that do not wobble, and sustain well.
The tone control is actually usefull, whoever designed this electronic setup knew exactly what they were doing.
Like the way that everything in the room vibrates at the same note including myself, loads of good feedback and very powerfull sound.
Love the sound. dislike scratching my hand on the poorly finished chrome.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The neck is worth all of the money paid for the bass, seems to be a tusq type nut, although the rest of the guitar is obviously designed with low cost materials the neck is as good as you will find, it just works!
Intonation seems perfect, good action, reasonably low profile neck.
Pickups work well in most areas, only a couple of quiet spots around 10 on string 3 but this is a 50 year old design.
Everything is well designed for function not cosmetics, all controls well adjusted and smooth.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Have owned the bass for a week, in my estimation its likely that the bass will survive for quite a while, gloss body paintwork looks nice and thick, it is well designed but with cheap materials which may let it down eg. if the strap buttons (very wide) work loose.
The guitar stays in tune and makes good bass tones.

Customer Support : 10
1 year warranty

Overall Rating : 10
Have been playing consistantly guitar for 3 years and am nearly ready to play gigs. Have a Stagg SF403 Electro acoustic cutaway, Hohner gw300 and a fender amp,
If lost or stolen, i would buy a real fender precision.
I love the sound and the easy playing characteristics.
Compared it to 80's japan squire and yamaha rbx170, neither of which i can afford, for general all round sound per pound, this westfield beats them both.

China made guitar, 4 strings(duh).45 guage, fretted 21 frets, dunno what coating it has, tone and volume control pots, split single coil pickups, non passive i think, westfield pickups, sunburst finish (dark purple and natural), precision style body and neck, string thru bridge, basic bass tuners (big), jumbo frets i think, rosewood not sure. came with strap n cable

Sound : 10
dont have a music style, but suits what i play. plugged into a rocket 20B amp which can be linked as a head unit to other amps (for louder sound etc. best with a 15g fender amp Wiv distortion sounds COOL. not noisy, humbucking i think, strings are very deep, not twangy, unlike my ernie ball string (which is very very twangy. prefer the stock strings)makes a giant bang sound when the strings are pressed against the pickups. might not last a gig, not tried. i like the strings alot, more than the more expensive ernie ball strings. no dislikes for sound

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
has a great action when the strings are removed and refitted again (really). the pickups have sharp edges and were wonky/ misaligned when bought, but not by a large amount. some of the screws had rounded off and the tone knob falls off alot because the plastic insides are buggered. otherwise fine

Reliability/Durability : 9
very reliable so far, been dropped, stabbed with cables n suchlike and seems to keep on going. the strap buttons are ok but need tightening every month. only need to tune it, nuthin else. the hardware will last quite a while. have to use it at a gig, have no backup! great finish though

Customer Support : 6
n/a, chinese company remember. but the store assistant was helpful and made up the package for me

Overall Rating : 8
i know this is a re-review, but ive had it a while now and the things evened out a bit. i would be gutted if it was stolen, because i love it. the only thing i hate is the incredibly big scratchplate and the giant tuners. fav feature? there are none!

Features : 8
westfield p-bass from the king of cheap things, china.
pretty basic neck, wide though, and eay to play on. 4 string with a sunburst effect, 1 volume and 1 tone controls which are hard to remove without a knife, standard split single coil pickup, spring mounted and humbucking(yes apsolutely no humm, top loading bridge, precision bass with massive machine heads, which i dislike.

Sound : 7
the pickups sound ace, and the strings were almost perfectly tuned. suits my music style well(since i'm a beginner). the amp it came with was a starfire clone, from a company called rocket. the one thing i dislike about the amp is it distorts the top string when playing higher than the 20th fret, and the controls for low and middle make the thing buzz like mad, otherwise its great. it gives a nice sound, but since i have only tried one other bass i cant really distinguish differences

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
the only problem was the pickup was set too low and leaned over, but that was easily fixed. unlike the other reviews the strap and vol/tone controls are difficult to remove. the action is good, but some screws are a bit messed up(slightly rounded out) but i could easily fix that.

Reliability/Durability : 8
i've not had it long, since i got it at christmas, but the pickguard scratches too easily. however the finish is great and could probably withstand a fair amount of bashing, since a doors already slamme on it and their was no effect. the strap buttons are incredibly hardy and never falled out

Customer Support : No Opinion
i cant get info on the company, but the store assistant was very helpful and threw in a noiseless cable and a strap for free! no warranty, but the store owner knows me and would gladly help me.

Overall Rating : 9
this is the second bass ive played, the other was a marlin bass which wasnt paticularly good,

Made in Korea or somewhere is labour is cheap
Has 20 frets and 4 strings
Has a brown and black polished finish
Has volume and tone controls (which conveniently fall of easily)
Body is made from maple
Has natural finish
Just a normal looking bass guitar. Nothing special
Quite a large neck with standard size frets
No accessories included.

Sound : 4
The sound is very distorted. Gives a unique sound but gets annoying after a while. I am using a Kustom amp with it but the amp was cheap too. I like playing all types of music (metal, punk, pop-punk) and the guitar doesn't complement them much except for old-school punk. It complements this type of music well.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The bass set up was OK the factory. I had to take the strings off and put them back on again. The pick ups are lined ok, but nothing perfect. E string is very distorted though but may be my fault.

Reliability/Durability : 8
The bass stands OK for playing live. I havent had a problem live yet. It might last a little while but i will definately be buying a better bass soon. The finsih has lasted very well. UI had put stickers and stuff on it and took them off again and it still looks pretty good. The strap buttons come loose sometimes and so i have had to repair my guitar a little.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Not used it.

Overall Rating : 6
I wish that i would have saved up a little more for my first bass to buy a better one. It does the job well since i am an amateur player but i have definately played better basses.

P-Bass system; Stock P-Bass style Split pickup with volume pot & tone pot, P-bass style bridge & P-bass style non-locking tuners. fat 20 frets . Basswood (Purple & Natural). Heres the thing, I've played the one my band has and the one my sister's. Both came with amp as package deal (one was a Beghringer the other was a Leem)

Sound : 2
UGH! I play many types of music, from punk to rock to metal to indy to jazz and it sux. No effects through it. Pickups buzz away like bees. The pickups sound as if someones made them from fridge magnets, i have no idea what the other reviews are about (Esp the one saying they spent their 500 on this peice of scheit) but as someone whos tried 2 recently and 4 in total i can say this bass is crap

Action, Fit, & Finish : 1
strings are TERRIBLE. I wouldn't have noticed that if i hadn't BROKE the bass string about a week after i played it from the store (the one in my bands) so i replaced it with warwick's .45s and it sounds better than it was (I'm not saying its good, it still sux)This bass is a flaw of nature

Reliability/Durability : 3
The onlyt good thing about this bass is you can dent the fek out of it and it still stays in 1 peice but the pickups constantly need re-screwed in. The crome knobs are always falling off, espcially the tone pot one. And the lock strap is reall crap, they came off both my sister's and the band's

Made in China, 20 fret Fender Precision Bass Copy, tobacco sunburst, white scratchplate, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, 1 split pickup, passive tone and volume controls, bridge (not string through body) unbranded P bass style elephant ear tuners. Fat frets.

Price GBP 135 (including lead) + 15 for gig bag. New mint condition.

Bought from X Electrical Croydon Surrey.

Great workhorse bass, amazing for the price

Sound : 8
Tested a number of basses through an amp with flat tone settings, ranging from this bass, to a 550 pound "real" fender jazz bass.

This bass has a classic P bass sound, not too versatile, but does it's job well.

For level of output and tone, it beat everything I tried up to 300 pounds.

It would suit any straight ahead rock playing style. Would not really suit extreme slap bass.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Mass produced in China, but brilliantly finished. The bass was in tune!!! straight out of the box, and also the intonation was perfect. There are no flaws that I can see, and no noise. The only real clues to the cost of the bass are the look of the tuners and bridge (shiny chrome). All in all a fantastic looking copy of a classic bass.

Reliability/Durability : 8
This bass is going to last.

Customer Support : 10
X Electrical provide a 1 year warranty, the shop service was fantastic. Alex (salesman) is a bass player himself, and was very helpful.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing guitar for 13 years, this is my second bass guitar.

I would buy this bass again, as an excellent bass.

Compared it to 10 basses ranging in price from 135 to 500 pounds. My budget was 350 pounds, but I didn't pay that because this was the best bass.

Made in Korea. It has 21 frets and 4 strings (i can't stand any bass with more than 4 strings!). The neck's Maple and the fretboard is rosewood, and it's a copy/replica of a Standard Fender Precision Bass. Two knobs, tone and volume. Came with no accesories. This bass has a blue/green Turquoise finish with a flashy pearl scratchplate (i like the look of this bass). The pickup is a split-coil humbucker (P-Pickups, obviously). The Bass didn't come with a manual, and i didn't ask about the bass before i bought it, so i don't know the make/model of pick-ups. Pick Up configuration is a Standard P Bass one: H/H.

Sound : 8
This is a pretty versatile bass and it supports my music styles, funk, metal, grunge, punk, alt metal, heavy metal, jazz. Right now I run my bass thru a Laney HCM60B or a Vox Pathfinder (yes, it is a 15 Watt Guitar Amp!) and a BFX708 Multi FX Processor. Nice and loud on full volume! It gives off a ritch warm sound. As this is a Bass with only one pick-up setting, it doesn't do varieties of different sounds, the tone knob can vary the tone from a warm bassy sound to a bright, clear sound. I'd say it's equally good on stage and in studio, but it really depends on the amp(s) you are using. I like the sound of this bass a lot, althought it would be cool if it had multiple pick ups like an electric guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
The bass seems to have been set up pretty well and as I bought it from a shop, it was already adequately set up. The controls were loose, and fell off when i started jumping around with the bass, so if the same happens to you, just add superglue and they'll stay there forever :-). The strap holders were a bit loose, but they were easily fixed with a screwdriver. The brige screws were rusted and the G string screw is kinda sharp. Apart from that everything about the action fit and finish are cool

Reliability/Durability : 8
This Bass has withstood live playing so far, and i know it will in the future. Hardware seems like it will last and this bass has a cool finish which won't wear off with lots of playing (i have been playing this bass for half a year now and the only signs of wear are where i have been clumsy and chipped and dented the bass). The strap buttons are solid, but they tend to unscrew slowly in time, this is no great problem though. I haven't needed to adjust the neck/truss rod yet so it is very reliable and i can definately depend on it and would use it at a gig without a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
my bass is under a twelve month warrenty, i know nothing about the company, i don't know if they have a website, or a helpline. I think Westfield changed it's name to Westwood??

This is a good bass, with a ferw flaws. I love it's funky tone. I didn't compare it to other basses, i chose i because i wanted a bass. I wish it had a drop tuner.

This is my 1st bass and was made in Korea. it cost me #160, and has a beautiful clear sea blue laquer on the body. the neck's Maple and the fretboard is rosewood. It's a straight copy of the standard fender p-bass, with 1 volume and 1 tone controls. it came with nothing but the strings, so i had to buy the rest.

Sound : 9
I play punk mainly, and when plugged into a distorion, (or overdrive,) pedal it sounds great. The pickups are a bit on the noisy side but when it's slapped and popped it has real bite. It is quite noisy but whether thats my crappy amp or the guitar i don't know, (the amp probably!!) when played through a pc recording program it sounded amazing. The only thing i don't like is the Pearl scratch plate!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
I had to raise the action coz the buzz was awful, in fact it still buzzes now, but that might be the how the necks set. I'm gonna get it checked, when i have the cash! The pick-ups had some kind of foam under them instead of being spring mounted, so onced i'd lowered them the foam is now squashed and i've had to wedge some rubber under them to raise them again! After a few months the controls are now really loose, and no matter how much i tighten them they still nearly fall out the moment i turn them.

Reliability/Durability : 8
The bass holds it's tuning even when i thrash the hell out of it, (as punk bassists should!) The finish is still solid, and it's been played constantly for 4 months, the strap buttons were very good, but the strap came off a few times while playing, so i've replaced them with some strap locks. The neck seems to be about ready for some adjustments but i'm not confident enough 2 do that, neither do i have the cash to pay some one who does, so it'll have to do for a bit longer! I would definately feel able to use it live without a back up, but i'd rather have one just incase.

Customer Support : 1
I would deal with the company if I new where they were, if anyone has any info, please let me know, coz i want sum spares.

Overall Rating : 8
I would really like a 5 string, but as i don't know where the company is i cant find out it if they do them! I'm really glad that I bought it on a thursday other wise i'd have ended up with a cheap second hand!! (The shop with the cheap bass was closed on thursdays, so i had to buy this one!)
