I belive it was made in 1992 in Taiwan but I can't be 100% sure. Like the other Attitude basses this model has 21 frets, an alder body, and maple neck and fretboard. It also has the D-tuner. The main thing that seperates this bass from the rest of the Attitude basses is the elctronics. In addition to the woofer and p-pickups there are piezo transducers in the bridge. The control layout is a stacked volume, top for woofer, bottom for p-pickup, a three way switch, and a second stacked knob, top is master tone, bottom is piezo volume. And unlike the others the upper frets of the neck are not scalloped. The neck joint is easily the best bolt on joint on earth and beats out many set and thru designs as well. The woofer pickup is located under the basses pickgurd leaving the are a the base of the neck clear for slap. The one I got is in a blue with light sparkle. Another interesting feature is Billy's signature in sharpie on the upper horn. I've seen only 2 other basses like this and the others had the signature as well, leading me to belive it is some kind of limited edition.

Sound : 9
I play hard rock and metal and this bass sounds simply incredible. I run it though an Ampeg SVT II or a GK and it can really roar. In stereo mode with the woofer and p pickups going into other amps you have full control of your overall sound. You can distort the highs while maintaing tight lows and go from a deep and thumpy 60's sound to a high power modern tone with the flip of a switch. And thanks to its high end electronics its nearly totally silent. It can really do anything thanks to its 3 distinct pickups. Its hard to get a bad tone. Though if your looking for crisp jazz bass esque tones it can be hard to deliver.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I'm not the original owner so I can't say anything for the factory setup. For a bass thats about 14 years old it has faired well. Aside from the user caused scratches and bumps there is nothing wrong. The hardware and screws have aged and rusted a bit but nothing a little cleaning can't fix. The truss rod apears to be in perfect working order. The neck feels incredibly fast and easy to play, which incredible concidering just how wide it is. The bass can be set with very low fast action without any buzz. The hardware is rock solid. The neck joint is a dream. The only thing that isnt perfect is the balance while standing. Its pretty neck heavey, but a good strap and easily compensate for it. And its not particualarly light.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This bass is built like a rock. The hardware is sturdy and the elctronics are clean and emaculately assembled. I replaced the stock strap buttons with 3 inch sheet metal screws and fender bolts, true Sheehan style. I haven't even needed to touch the truss rod since I got it. The only reason I would have a beckup on hand would be becasue the piezo runs on battery and when it dies the overall output of the bass suffers. Though the battery compartment has an easy open top so a mid set change wouldnt be to much of a stretch.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I havent had to really deal with Yamaha much. I asked them for information on this bass and they sent me a PDF of the manual in a timely manner. I've talked to them before for other basses and they are always helpful. So I will give this an N/A.

Overall Rating : 10
I have several basses ranging from other four string fretteds to six string fretless. This bass is easily one I can play till the day I die. It can simply do anything and everything and is really built to last. Its a true workhorse. If it were ever stolen, I'd never lose it, I would track the bastard down and kill them for it.
