Made in the early 90's, in Tiawan.21 frets. It has two knobs, volume and tone.It still has the original passive pickups, but it has two, whereas most other bb200's I've seen or heard of only have one.I'm guessing the body is basswood with a maple neck, and roewood fretboard. It's got a super shiny black paintjob. Standard p-bass body. The bridge is quite basic, but solid. The open tuners leave a little to be desired, but I haven't had them loosen up on me yet.Pretty basic neck, very slick. I got it from a friend of mine on a trade with a hard case about 10 years ago and been playing the snot out of it since. I like it alot, but I think I'm gonna sell it after I get my ESP Tom Araya signature bass next week.

Sound : 7
I like the sound I get out of it, but for the hard stuff I play, it sounds like I need more(maybe fx peddles). Most of the time I just use my small Crate amp, but I play out with an old Fender Bassman double stack setup. I do get a little buzz out of it, but its not too noticeable. When I use "Bass Boomers" strings it has a good, deep sound, but now I tried different strings, and I'm not as happy. I think its pretty versitile for anything I've used it for. I've really enjoyed this bass, but its pretty much just a starter bass, and I'm ready to move up.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I did have to adjust the bridge a little to bring the strings down to the fretboard, but now the action is terrific.I haven't had to do anything to the pickups. The only flaw in my bass is the scratch I put on it last time I changed the strings...IDIOT!

Reliability/Durability : 9
I have to say, I've had this bass exclusively for a long while, and I've never had a problem with it. Everything is built very solid for an inexpensive bass. I highly recommend it for a beginner.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I got it used, so I didn't get a warranty, but I've never had anything go wrong.

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing for about 15 years now. I had 1 other bass before this one. It died, and I've been playing this one every since. If it ever came up missing, I would not be a happy boy, but since I've tried alot of other basses in the last 10 years, I probably would buy something else now, but if I just started playing, I would definately get another one.

Made in Taiwan, mid to late 90's manufacture. 21 frets. A pretty straightfoward P-bass copy. One split coil pickup, one volume knob, one tone knob. I believe it to be a basswood body with a shiny high gloss finish. Mine is a bright red which looks good. Simple bridge, open gear tuners. Neck is a cross between a P-bass and a Jazz neck, pretty comfortable.

Sound : 6
I play mostly hard rock with some classic rock...and some funk rock here and there. I am using it through a behringer ultrabass 1200 combo amp. Pretty good sound, nice full low end. As with any lower priced guitar the pickup could be better, but a seymour duncan bassline is going in soon anyway. The sound is kinda limited(one pickup, one tone knob) but hey i got it for its simplicity. You can get a decent slap tone if you try to.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Im assuming it still has the factory setup since it looked barely played if at all when I bought it used. Action is suprisingly good...pretty low without much buzz. I might adjust the pickup so I can rest my thumb more comfortably on it. Only pain in the ass is the high gloss finish shows fingerprints and smudges pretty well.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This thing feels like a tank in your hands, solidly built like a fender. I havent gigged it yet, but I plan to soon, it holds up great during jams...Stays in tune well. I would feel confident gigging it without a backup. With fresh strings that is.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never dealt with them, but I know that Yamaha makes good instruments for the money.

Overall Rating : 7
Been playing guitar for 3 years, bass exclusively for 1 year. I own a fender MIM strat, a yamaha f-335 acoustic, an Ibanez tr-80 bass also. If this got stolen, id probably just wait and save for a Fender Jazz. But id be pissed cause id have to go back to playing the crappy tr-80 until then. The BB200 kicks the ass of my Ibanez.

I don't know what year mine was made. I bought it used about 5 years ago and have played it ever since. It has one tone and one volume knob. Nothing fancy. It's got an average neck size, although I don't like the finish on the back of the neck - it seems to impair fast movement.
Overall - just a basic bass, no frills.

Sound : 7
For me it did just fine. I purposly avoided playing anything nicer so I wouldn't know the difference. When I finally did get into some nicer gear, I realized that an upgrade was needed. The BB200's sound leaves something to be desired. It's not very punchy, not very thick, just kinda "blah"

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The setup was great. No problems when I first bought the bass (although I got it used so I don't know about factory settings). Over time I was getting some buzz from the tuners vibrating (the tuning heads come loose).

Reliability/Durability : 9
The construction is actually very solid. Yamaha does a good job making a nice solid instrument. I'm sure you could drop it off a cliff and have no problems.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with the company. But I like Yamaha - and mean where else can you buy a piano, a motorcycle, and a speedboat?!

Overall Rating : 7
Overall it's a fine beginner bass. You can't go wrong if you're just trying to learn. I wouldn't suggest it for the more serious bass player unless you just like the color or something.

Mine is an Early 80's BB200, Cream finish. Got the bass for $125 from my father. Has the original tuners, Replaced pickup with a SD basslines Quater pounder, and the bridge was replaced with a heavier duty stew-mac one. 1 vol and 1 tone. Neck feels similar to my ernie ball. For a basic bass this bass is awesome.

Sound : 8
I love the tone of this bass, it fits very well with the music I play. I can use this bass from blues to metal. With the addition of the SD Basslines pickup the tone is very warm and round. I like the basic setup it gives me a chance to break away from the Active EQ's and get back to just a basic p-bass tone.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I have the bass setup nice, With the addition of the new bridge, the sustain is alot better. The Stew-Mac bridge is a heavier duty bridge than the original. The finish on it is great, Mine is an aged White color, now a cream. The neck has a nice figure to it.

Reliability/Durability : 9
ONE THING - This bass is reliable, You can play anything with this bass, I put the Dimarzio strap locks on it and it works great. Everything on this bass is built to last. I would definetly gig this without a backup. I own quite a few other basses, and this is probly my favorite right now.

Customer Support : No Opinion
DON'T deal with them, I am a luthier so I have no need for customer support.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for 9 yrs, I own a Musicman Stingray, Fender Jazz, Schechter Trad. Jazz, and a full Ampeg/SWR rig. I love the tone and features of the bass, Simple is the best. I would pick this bass over a MIM Fender anyday, Built solid. I got this bass from my dad because I wanted a p-bass. I didn't expect it to be this great. I have recently put the Musicman Stingray up for sale since I have enjoyed playing this old budget bass guitar. For a low Priced instrument this is a great deal.

BASSwood body, hard maple neck with rosewood neck, 21 frets, 4 in line gotoh type tuners, string tree, 1 split p bass pickup. The neck seems thinner than most fenders I've played. 1 volume, 1 tone knob.

Sound : 10
I prefer this bass with nickel roundwounds, 45-105. This bass had great acoustic tone even with the shot strings that were on it when I first considered it. The stock pu was very even sounding but the addition of a Seymour Duncan SPB-2 did increase the bottom and output dramatically. Sounds great either full treble or rolled off and then forward enough to get some bite.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
This bass had been in someones closet without a case. Slapped a new set of strings on it and it SPOKE. The construction of this bottom of the line bass is very good. Both volume and tone pots disintegrated when I tried to clean them with electronic cleaner...oops.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I live in the mountains. Climate can change pretty dramaticly. I have not had to adjust the truss rod yet. I did have to move the action up pretty high with a set of thomastic flats, but no truss rod adjustments in the past 8 years. My carvin must be adjusted at least twice a year!

Customer Support : 9
Bought Used no warranty. They did respond to my inquiry on year and bodywood.

Overall Rating : 9
It satisfies my need for a P bass. I've been playing bass 33 yrs, I have a 5 string carvin, cort headless w/barts, and a completly frankensteined ebo. This bass fits perfectly in my arsenal. I did try several early mij squires before I bought the yamaha.
