Made in Taiwan, with a Rosewood neck and Alder body, mine is a 4-string fretless model. It's got two (pretty basic) pickups and a tone dial (non-locking). The neck is pretty slim, feels very playable with no problems. I also like that the instrument not too hefty relatively speaking. I got this used for 800nis (about $180-190 american). The tronics are passive, the finish is transparent.

The sound is reasonably versatile, nothing more, but sounds great in most settings. What really sets this baby apart is you can quite easily get the very sought-after electric-fretless "pwawww", that is, you can really get the trademark FRETLESS sound, moreso than with a lot of much more expensive basses.
Generally I'd place the sound in the "dark and warm" region, which is excellent for the stuff I play - Jazz, avantgarde, ethnic. I believe it can work great for most of your rock needs as well, unless you need coldness/sharpness.

I think it's pretty easy to get good action on this one. I've never experienced any problems whatsoever with the build or fit.

As I said, I got this second-hand, it's been through a few. I do concerts with it, I never have a backup. The finish on the neck wears off pretty fast if you use wound-rounds. Other than the finish, it seems very dependable and solid.

I've been playing for 9 years. I got this one two years ago, and I sold my american-made fender jazz-bass pretty quickly afterwards - because soon enough I wasn't using that one anymore. Hands down the best thing about the BB350F is the sound - it wouldn't hurt if it were more versatile, but the sound it does make is splendid, and it beats most fretlesses I've tried. It looks great, too.

I bought it used and don't know the year it was made. MAde in Taiwan. It's fretless, solid body, basic passive controls, plain chrome tuners, long thin neck. J and P pickups. I give it a 7 because it has the essentials and is well made.

Fantastic! This is where it shines. Great tone and warmth. Power and finess. Really a versitle tool for the studio or stage. Especially for the price. I paid $200, so I am just plain happy. It could use a bit more power/balance in the upper range, but I E.Q. that back into it usually.

Incredible! Smooth as silk. Ultralight action, plays all by itself. This ax begs to be touched. I guess it's old, but it looks great, solid black, no rust.

IT works and works. Very solid, except the tuners feel a bit lightweight. I will probably replace them for a more solid set.

I don't know, regarding this instrument. But Yamaha helped me get parts for other gear that was WAY out of production . . . at a hefty price. But they had most of what I wanted or got it from Japan. They just about separated my lungs when they grabbed into my wallet though.

I own about 15 guitars of different makes and most are midrange instruments. I have a few pro items, but I don't have the budget for the high end stuff and have put together a studio full of second hand gear and only a few new things. This is one of my better purchases. I would probalby replace it if lost. I compare it and it played so much better than ones costing much more. Then there's the sound, much better too. It's also pretty light, so it won;t wear you out holding it either.

I think this bass was made in Taiwan in the mid 80's. It is completely stock with passive PJ pickups, volume, tone and p/u selector. This bass has a nice weight to it: not too heavy, not too light. The neck is very comfortable.

The sounds this bass can make! Fat, punchy, crisp, warm--whatever you need!

Bass is surprisingly well-made for an entry-level, imported, bass. I bought it used, but it seems to be unaltered. Nice action. Great playability. Have had the fingerboard planed a few times and still have a buzz at the 14th fretline. The neck and body are solid. Hardware is good. Finish is mediocre.

Will definitely stand the test of time. The hardware shows no signs of rust or pitting. The electonics work great. I'm comfortable taking this bass anywhere without a backup!

I've been playing over 15 years and have lots of basses. I've had this one for about 6 years. I have no plans to get rid of it.

This is a fretless bolt-on neck 4 string bass with a rosewood fingerboard. It came from the factory (I believe) with inlays where the frets would have been were it fretted. It has the stock Yamaha P and J style pickups with master tone, volume and a toggle switch for pickup selection. Electronics are passive. I assume this is an 80's model bass, since I remember when the RBX series came out (early 90's) and that series was really inferior to this bass' series.

This bass sounds very good. I think the original pickups are actually pretty good. Sounds good recorded and live. A little noise from the single coil J style pickup when fingers are off the strings (as expected). Nice fretless bite and growl when needed. A good bass although not from Yamaha's most expensive line, obviously. Still, superior in quality and substantial feel as compared with the 90's RBX series and more modern crapmobiles that are being peddled as "instruments." I'm giving it a 7, since the upper limits here are really reserved for much more expensive instruments.

I just had it set up so it plays and sounds great. It had TERRIBLE action when I got it. Now the action is perfect. As we all know, this makes the difference. Maintain and set up your instrument optimally and you'll know whether or not the instrument is good or not.

This bass is built solidly and feels good. The neck is a nice chunk of wood, although I've found that models from this series need adjusting more than some basses, yet less than others. Still the truss rod is just fine and smooth and responsive. So all's well. I think that on a bass that's not super-expensive, like this one, things like tuning machines will be acceptable, but not great. They work just fine, but can't measure up to expensive replacement tuners. This is as expected. I've had no mechanical problems at all.

I've played other fretless basses and this is a good value. I think older Yamahas (from this era) are underrated (stay away from the RBX series). Although don't have the antique charm of an old Fender or something, they also don't have the "charming" pricetag. I like the way it plays and sounds. In this era, that's an equipment victory.
